Talk About A Prick!
Every time I see these overgrown rose bushes with pricks on them I think of Barrie Tilghman, and the demise of the Downtown Plaza. A sharp poke by that prick and the next thing you know there's blood dripping from your hand. Come on Barrie, do what you do best and cut those pricks off before someone else gets hurt.
Man Almost Run Down By Lawnmower
While there's an advantage of having a push lawnmower with a reverse gear, this man was doing all he could to get away from this vicious machine. The new Hitachominski Lawnmower is capable of a reverse speed of 10 mph, which is tough to get away from once you lose control.
So be careful of these new products sold in stores near you. ;-)

If At First You Don't Succeed, Do It AGAIN!
Mill Street at Rt. 50 was closed again because the water main busted AGAIN. That's right, not that long ago I had a Post up showing this exact same area under repair, yet it must not have been done right because they closed the road off again today to dig up their recent work and correct what went wrong.
Look, I like the guys at Public Works. However, this begs the question, what's going wrong? The Mayor claims the infrastructure in Salisbury is failing, yet when you replace it with new, it's still failing?
Oh well, election time is just around the corner and it's high time we vote in someone who knows how to manage people and get things right.
An Interesting Coment About Gary Comegys
I can tell you for sure he is not a current SFD firefighter. He like many before him use the SFD membership label for political benefit.
Mr Comegys walked away from the SFD in 2002 when Station 2 went to war with the City. He claimed to have no part in it and bad mouthed Station 2 . Well at 1 am in the morning while on a call he was part of the movement and by sun up he was in Barrie's world.
Soon after, he joined Station 16 and dropped by for a few hours each week to show his face. After he was elected he was never seen again. While he was there you could he him and Gordo in a constant huddle planning strategy for the council race and agreeing on trade offs if he were elected.
Well history has shown a cushy relationship between Comegys and the SFD. Millions have been funneled through the SFD and Comegys stands poised to run for Mayor with Gordo as the campaign manager. Get the picture.
I can not tell you how many hours that his SHA truck sat at Station 2 during the day over the years. I can tell you that he has been on the hot seat several times and an SHA supervisor has saved his large behind. He hides his truck behind his house on most days and can be seen cruising around checking on SFD doings anytime. The funniest thing I ever saw was when Bubba's boss called Station 2 one day on the speaker phone. When asked where he was, Bubba replied at my office. The man on the other end asked if he was invisible because he was siting at his desk and wanted to know why his truck was at station 2. He had photos and times of previous infractions.
Well the State has proven to be soft and allow this to continue, so we should expect no different in the future.

Bill Gates Hits The Nail On The Head
Love him or hate him, he sure hits the nail on the head with this!
Bill Gates recently gave a speech at a High School about 11 things they did not and will not learn in school. He talks about how feel-good, politically correct teachings created a generation of kids with no concept of reality and how this concept set them up for failure in the real world.
Rule 1: Life is not fair - get used to it!
Rule 2: The world doesn't care about your self-esteem. The world will expect you to accomplish something BEFORE you feel good about yourself.
Rule 3: You will NOT make $60,000 a year right out of high school. You won't be a
vice-president with a car phone until you earn both.
Rule 4: If you think your teacher is tough, wait till you get a boss.
Rule 5: Flipping burgers is not beneath your dignity. Your Grandparents had a different word for burger flipping: they called it opportunity.
Rule 6: If you mess up, it's not your parents' fault, so don't whine about your mistakes, learn from them.
Rule 7: Before you were born, your parents weren't as boring as they are now. They got that way from paying your bills, cleaning your clothes and listening to you talk about how cool you thought you were. So before you save the rain forest from the
parasites of your parent's generation, try delousing the closet in your own room.
Rule 8: Your school may have done away with winners and losers, but life HAS NOT. In some schools, they have abolished failing grades and they'll give you as MANY TIMES as you want to get the right answer. This doesn't bear the slightest resemblance to
ANYTHING in real life.
Rule 9: Life is not divided into semesters. You don't get summers off and very few

Paintings From Salisbury News Blog
Ladies & Gentlemen,
I received the following two letters recently in which I was truly honored to agree with. Today we have received some of the finished products and I wanted to share with all of you not only how popular this Site has become, I wanted to share the beauty of this unbelievable Artist and how all of us have inspired one and other.
Christine, they're breathtaking! I'm sure you'll be receiving quite a few on line offers for these paintings. Follow this Post and let's see what people think.
Good Morning Joe,
I am an artist living in California (formally a bartender at Gunnings Ocean City...20 odd years ago!) and have enjoyed reading your news blogs as a way of staying in touch with that side of the world! I would like to use some of your excellent photographs as inspirations for some paintings I would like to do. You can see my painting style on my web-site www.chenrystudios.com.
If you would be OK with carte blanche permission or would like to know which I use, I would be happy to accommodate.
Thanks Joe, and I really enjoy your blog, wish some-one over here would do as well!
Christine Mac Shane-Henry
Hello there Joe,
I have been quite busy this week getting ready to put on a mini art show here in Oroville CA. We are central to where a large number of the fires have been and in an effort to replenish the local firefighters' equipment etc, I am hoping this art show will be of help. I particularly loved the one you took of the OC guy hauling the hose and hope I did it justice. I will be adding more to this series of "daily paintings".
In writing up our business plan, my business partner Jackie and I decided to opt for a local cause for our 10% to charity. So we thought of the firefighters as it would directly affect the community without too much administration!!! Heaven forbid! So we will be offering giclees of the paintings for those looking to purchase them. They can contact me through the web-site.
Happy to get your input...

A Comment Worthy Of A Post
I've got news for all of you . . . before SBYNEWS I couldn't get any of my opinions published without The Daily Times censoring my thoughts. And then they would include my signature while modifying some of my sentences.
But here at SBYnews. . Joe has published everyone I've submitted to date without changing any of my wording w/ exception of correcting some grammatical errors.
But look at The Daily Times make-up:
Susan Parker - former Wicomico County Board of Education employee
Eric Sahler's wife - Wicomico County Board of Education spokes person
Greg Bassett's wife - Wayne Gilchrest press secretary.
It's no wonder their news is slanted. IT'S BECAUSE THEY ARE BIASED BECAUSE OF THEIR INTERNAL MAKE-UP.

Gary Comegys, Firefighter?
The first thing I want to know is, why is Gary Comegys trying to come off as a Salisbury Firefighter on a current Website? Nevertheless, the main topic I'd like to bring to every one's attention is, just how does this guy get ALL the free time off the SHA? That is his full time job, right?
I mean, it begs to question, there must be something in it for the SHA to allow one of their own employees to take off time from his main job to take photo ops, MML Meetings, you name it, the list goes on and on, day after day.
GO HERE to see his personal Website with all the photos begging for the question, were ALL these photos taken on weekends or after 5:00 PM?
You Local AND State Taxes hard at work.
THE JOB = URINE TEST
I HAVE TO PASS A URINE TEST FOR MY JOB... SO I AGREED 100%
Like a lot of folks, I have a job--I work, they pay me. I pay my taxes and the government distributes my taxes as it sees fit.
In order to get that paycheck, I am required to pass a random urine test with which I have no problem. What I do have a problem with is the distribution of my taxes to people who don't have to pass a urine test.
Shouldn't one have to pass a urine test to get a welfare check because I have to pass one to earn it for them? Please understand, I have no problem with helping people get back on their feet.
I do, on the other hand, have a problem with helping someone sitting on their ASS, doing drugs, while I work. . Can you imagine how much money the state would save if people had to pass a urine test to get a public assistance check!?
WHAT AN IDEA!!!!!!!!

Question of the Day, Mon 7/21 -Did you know?
Today's comes from Melissa Malone:
Did you know that you can do an energy load profile on your entire home? It will tell you what changes you can make to save money and energy. I did it. I replaced all the light bulbs with fluorescent (even outside), set the A/C to 78 degrees and left the thermostat alone. WOW!!! What a big savings!!
To get your own energy profile, visit www.energyguide.com, type in your zip code then click on Analyze your home. Then, in the next window, click on In-Depth Analysis and start your way to saving energy and money on your very next electric bill.

Helping Deployed Soldiers
I've been reading your blog for quite some time, and have read comments about deployed soldiers in the past. As a national guard soldier myself, I know they face several challenges when away from home. There is a non profit website that helps deployed soldiers by sending necessary supplies like shampoo, deodorant, and other miscalaneous daily supplies that are sometimes hard to come by when deployed. The website is www.soldiersangels.com When on this site you can choose to "adopt" a soldier by sending them letters to let them know that someone is thinking about them, or you can send supplies. If you could mention it on your blog, Im sure a lot of people would check it out, and support the troops, every little bit helps. Despite anyones political choice, these guys are fighting for all of us, and deserve some respect, and support for it. Thank you for your time.

Good Morning Everyone
The Daily Times Fires 48 Year Long Employee
Times are so tough that the Daily Rag terminated/laid off Mr. Frank Gillis, a 48 year long employee of the Daily Rag.
I'm told that a kid, (Editor) told him it was either him or you and you need to pack your things and leave, after 48 years!
Folks, Frank Gillis ran the Real Estate Showcase for a million years with the Daily Times and quite frankly, I think every Real Estate Company, Sales Person, Banker, Inspector and the list goes on, should contact the Daily Times and tear them a new one!
This is yet another VERY clear sign things are truly falling apart down there and making the move to relocate, purchase a $3,000,000.00 Press, the lack of delivery of the daily paper and the massive volume of customers dropping their subscriptions should tell you, businesses are fed up with their rates and lack of delivery as well.
As you travel throughout Salisbury, businesses are closing down left and right and commercial space is available anywhere you so desire. That means less advertisers and when you're a start up business like Salisbury News is with very low overhead, it will kill the competition, (the Daily Times) because they can't afford to drop their rates and compete.
I told you, I'm doing it Italian Style, a very slow and painful hurting/death. Mr. Gillis, thank you for all that you have done for the Eastern Shore. Some may tell you to enjoy your retirement but it should have been done with class and not termination. F/U Daily Times, that sucks! The Mayor of Salisbury certainly rubbed off on Greg Bassett!
Who knows, maybe Mr. Gillis can come to work with us?
The Complex That Cal Built?
The Daily Times did a big story about the new Stadium in Aberdeen that Cal Ripken was involved in. Now don't get me wrong, I absolutely love Cal Ripken and everything the man stands for. However, the Daily Times neglected to write a FULL story about how Aberdeen has been looking at bankruptcy over its involvement with this massive and expensive project. For all we know, they could still be looking at bankruptcy down the road. It talks all about Cal and all he did to make it happen. While that may be true, his bringing the idea to the area, they do not mention any of the financial hardships it has brought on to the area as well. Read their article HERE.
That being said, I with Cal and Billy the very best but I wish the Taxpayers of Aberdeen even more luck.
Liquor Board Lies ...
... and the Daily Times prints them all.
Sunday's Daily Times boasts a front page piece on the Wicomico County Liquor Control Board that has just enough truth to be dangerous. Unfortunately Greg Latshaw delivers an article that primarily consists of a series of lies from WCLCB Chair Stewart Haemal. Lathshaw must have had a hot date this weekend; he usually checks his facts a lot better than this. To find out more about how this motley crew is picking our collective pockets, read more ....

JOHN R YANKEE WINS KEITH LONG MEMORIAL AT OCEAN—HILL BACK
Ocean Downs paid tribute to local horseman Keith Long who died last
summer at the age of 37 and the track sponsored a memorial race for Long
Saturday, July 19. Donnie Long, Keith’s brother, drove in the featured
race, which was won by John R Yankee, a seven year-old gelding driven by
Eric Ledford ($11.00). The 1:58.1 mile was the fastest trot of the
current summer meet at the Ocean Oval.
Ledford had a driving-double and now has 32 wins after the 19^th night
of racing this summer at the ocean. Brandon Givens also notched a pair
of wins, including a win for owner/trainer Robert Leager, Jr.’s three
year-old colt Always A Choice ($3.00, 1:56.4). The Three Olives colt
last summer set the Ocean Downs record for two year-old colts with a
1:56.2 when driven by Frank Milby. Givens also piloted 12 year-old Best
After Midnight to the gelding’s fourth win of the year. The Don
Milby-trained veteran pacer Saturday posted his best time in the last
two years (1:56.4, $4.80).
Saturday was Pink Ribbon Night at the track to benefit the local chapter
of Women Supporting Women, a group that helps provide awareness,
friendship and support for breast cancer survivors and their families.
Their featured race was a one mile pace won by seven year-old Mc Matz’s
Ztam, which has won all three of his starts at the ocean this summer
(1:56.1, $10.20). John Wagner drove the Manley Brown, Jr.-trained
gelding to the win beating 2/5 favorite O Narutac Savant.
Driver W. David Hill III was back in the bike Saturday night after a
nasty spill, which sent him to the hospital Thursday night July 17.
“That stuff happens. I’m a little bit sore, scrapped up, but I’m all
right,” he said. Hill was set to drive his own four year-old Preview The
Dream in the first leg of the “Michelob Light Pace” stakes event, but
was injured three races before the stakes race. While being treated on
the track, Hill knew who he wanted to drive his horse. “Oh yeah, I was
looking for somebody I could depend on to drive her like I wanted and
Ray Robinson did that for me and he won with her,” Hill said after
Saturday’s races. The Preview Lobell mare won her first of the year
(1:58.3, $7.20) with “Shorty” at the helm.
The 60^th Anniversary live summer meet continues its Wednesday,
Thursday, Saturday and Sunday format through August 24. Parking and
admission are free. First post is 7:35 pm nightly. For more information,

The Pet Emporium In Seaford SUCKS!
This is an image of the Cockatoo Cage in this piece of sh!t Store. The flies were everywhere and the baby mice were eating them. You know what Folks, IF you should happen to go into these Pet Stores and see the mess like this image and you purchase an animal, expect to have serious health issues with it because this is NOT how you run a business, OR A ZOO! I hope the Health Department sees this Post, goes up there right away and shuts their damn doors immediately. If this is what helps these animals, well then it's been worth all the hassle gain all this attention over the past 3 years in order to make a difference. Then again, look at the Deer in the Salisbury Zoo! They don't give a sh!t either.
If you're wondering just where this place is, remember that strip joint they were trying to open on Rt. 13 in Seaford? That's the joint.
