LLAMA AT SALISBURY ZOO DIES
Salisbury Zoo Director Joel Hamilton is sad to announce that on Tuesday morning, June 17th, one of the Zoo’s female llamas was found dead in her exhibit. She had been observed the evening before sitting in the barn. She was found by the keeper Tuesday morning in the same barn.
The llama’s body was submitted to the Maryland State Animal Health Lab for necropsy and tissue analysis. On gross necropsy, her liver was found to be compromised with many lesions observed. The lab suggested that these lesions were probably either bacterial granulomas or tumors. Approximately 90% of her liver appeared affected. The extent of the lesions indicated that the condition was probably years old. A more definitive diagnosis is pending based upon the microscopic evaluation of the tissue samples.
For more information, you may contact the Zoo Director, Joel Hamilton, at (410) 548-3188.
NOT FOR NOTHING BARRIE TILGHMAN, The ONLY drinking source these Llama's have is the RIVER! The Zoo has no City water into that exhibit. You don't suppose that's where these lesions came from, DO YOU?
WBOC & WMDT Are Looking A Lot Like Salisbury News Any More
How about THIS one?
Try THIS one out for size.
Oh, we don't want to miss THIS.
How about THIS one too?
This is actually a great thing. However, shouldn't BLOGGERS be suing the MSM for taking their stories? It should be known that I do give many of these stories to WMDT & WBOC. However, in light of other discussions about the MSM going after Bloggers, it just doesn't sem fair.
Here's how I can PROVE to you many stories are copied from Salisbury News. Just watch us post an article and watch other MSM sources put up something very soon AFTER it is posted here.
I get calls all the time from people who laugh because no sooner did I get off the phone to complete a story and post it, minutes later WBOC is calling my contacts asking what's up about my story.
Most importantly, the reason "I" give up this information is because "I" feel it's important for it to get out to the public any way it can. It does not bother me if they get it here first, (and believe me, they do) and use this information to educate the public. However, if it ever gets to a pissing match like it has elsewhere between Bloggers and the MSM, it will end immediately. I have very good contacts at both places and IMHO I don't believe that's going to happen. Besides, I'm the one doing most of the giving, believe me on tat one.
Gannett Drops Again Today!

A Letter To The Editor
So at some point after 6:00 pm Trooper 4 transports the patient to PRMC. At the same time the Allan Volunteer Fire Company BLS ambulance drives to PRMC to pick up their paramedic who must have flown with the helicopter. Guess what time the helicopter arrives at the hospital? Central acknowledged them at 6:20 pm. That was probably a normal drive to the hospital by the ambulance in less than 20 minutes. So that patient could have been loaded in the ambulance and transported to the hospital in less than 20 minutes with lights and sirens. WTF were they thinking? Did I mention criminal? This is a sad case of unadulterated negligence on all parties involved. I certainly hope the patient survives without any problems.
Someone should investigate this entire incident and take the appropriate actions. Everyone involved should be reprimanded and have their certifications stripped from them. Everything is taped and recorded and can be found at the 911 center before the tapes are erased. This is another case of renegade fireman doing any thing they want to without any oversight from the County. It is apparent that the Wicomico County has given the fire departments a License to Kill. If you live in Allan I feel sorry for you. The best thing you can do is put a for sale sign in your yard and move to another county.
None of this has been fabricated. It is an actual incident that someone should be asking questions about.

Would You Rather Advertise On Salisbury News?
By KEVIN KINGSBURY
June 19, 2008; Page B9
Shares of Gannett Co. fell to levels last seen in 1994 as the newspaper publisher disclosed increased declines in print-advertising revenue for May, further highlighting the pressures facing the industry.
Gannett shares fell 4.5% to $24.42 in 4 p.m. New York Stock Exchange composite
trading.
Gannett, which publishes more than 80 U.S. newspapers, including USA Today, said publishing ad revenue fell 14.3% in May. Earlier this week smaller rival McClatchy Co. reported a 15% drop in newspaper-ad revenue for the first five months of the year and announced a 10% cut of its work force. Gannett's first-quarter ad revenue in the print segment dropped 10%.
Ad revenue at Gannett's television operations fell 6.2% last month. The TV division is expected to improve as the year progresses thanks to the presidential election.
Last week, Gannett said it would take a second-quarter write-down of between $2.5 billion and $3 billion, largely because of economic conditions in Britain, where a real-estate downturn is hurting ad revenue at its Newsquest newspaper operation.
A Salisbury News Reader Sends This Message
I don't know how many times I have alerted your organizations to what is going on down here in Salisbury, Maryland.
This waste water treatment plant has dumped, yet again, into the Wicomico River. They are repeat offenders and have dumped so many times with so many official reports to the authorities and. . . . still. . . there is no accountability.
The only way we are going to get a handle on this polluter is to launch a Coup d' etat and insert our own conscripted citizenry to run this facility until the Army Corps of Engineers can be brought in.
I know of at least 5 times over the past two years that they have contaminated the Wicomico River. Now the River is closed yet again.
Let me know if you want to assemble to start conscription of troops. We also need to send emissaries to the White House and let them know what we are up to. Moreover, maybe they will deploy the National Guard as we seek their aid in an attempt to try and thwart the irresponsible regime.
I know of no other alternatives. . . .I've tried diligently to alert all of the authorities. . .and still the dumping of raw sewage continues.
I'll officially insert both you and Allan Girard as official military commanders - (Officers) - until a federal occupation force can be permanently installed.
Let me know your thoughts.
Here is the link to the latest fiasco.

A Concerned Citizen

Kentucky Settles Blog Censorship Suit
Public Citizen’s client Mark Nickolas, author of the blog BluegrassReport.org, agreed to dismiss the suit in the U.S. District Court in Frankfort, Ky. after Kentucky officials approved the settlement agreement. Louisville attorney Jennifer Moore also represented Nickolas.
Under the settlement, Kentucky officials agreed to no longer single out websites just because they are considered blogs. State officials reserve the right to block sites they consider inappropriate but agree to use a “viewpoint-neutral” standard that applies equally to all Web sites.
Public Citizen filed suit on behalf of Nickolas after the state started using a filtering program to censor all Web sites categorized as blogs. The state’s former top computer official stated in a court filing that the filtering policy was implemented because the governor’s office was unhappy with Nickolas’s blog, which was widely read by state employees and frequently criticized the governor.
Kentucky’s blog ban went into effect June 20, 2006, the same day Nickolas was quoted in The New York Times criticizing Fletcher, who was facing misdemeanor charges for claims that he had forced Democrats out of state civil service jobs in order to give them to political allies. Fletcher has since been defeated by current Gov. Steve Beshear.
“The state of Kentucky targeted Web sites it considered ‘unfriendly’ and, in doing so, violated the First Amendment rights of Mark Nickolas and other bloggers,” said Greg Beck, the Public Citizen attorney who handled the case. “We applaud the current administration for recognizing that the state cannot impose special restrictions on websites just because they are run by bloggers instead of big media companies.”

Waterkeeper Alliance Is Truly Listening
Waterkeeper Alliance is built on the belief that our waterways belong to
the people who use them for drinking and recreation and not the
industrial polluters who want to destroy them for the sake of profit. We
embrace strong citizen enforcement of our nation's environmental laws
and we rely on concerned citizens like you to bring matters to our
attention.
We have just today received a number of inquiries from concerned Eastern
Shore residents about a wastewater treatment plant located in Salisbury
on the Wicomico River and we will be following up on that facility. I
assume that the Hebron plant is an entirely different facility. Please
let me know and I will try to follow up.
I want to thank you again for standing up for clean water. With the many
negative (and false) allegations being made against us in the local
media, its inspiring to know that there are those on the Eastern Shore
who share our concerns.
Sincerely,
Scott Edwards

Wicomico Liquor Control Board Attorney Denies Documents
In a letter dated June 9, LCB attorney Victor H. Laws, III informs Wicomico County Council Administrator Matt Creamer that documents requested by the council would not be forthcoming. There was just one problem, the documents had already been sent to the council after much delay.
The humor of this not withstanding, Mr. Laws makes some interesting comments in his piece to the council. Laws asserts that the LCB is "an independent state agency" and that the Wicomico County Council "has no jurisdiction over the Board (LCB) or any right to supervise its operations." Laws also asserts that the actions of "certain council members represent a form of attempted micromanagement, and even harassment."
Laws should be ashamed of himself for stealing from the Barrie Tilghman / Paul Wilber school of jurisprudence in such a blatant manner.
It is true that the LCB is an independent state agency. Therefore, they are subject to Maryland's Public Information Act. Borrowing from the Tilghman / Wilber school, Laws seems to be asserting that council members somehow cease to hold the rights of common citizens upon their ascension to elected office.
In my humble opinion, the council is being too kind. They should simply fill out a PIA request when they want something and run Haemel, et al into court if they refuse to comply.
The council, in providing legislative oversight over the county's budget SHOULD be making sure that the Wicomico taxpayer is receiving all funds from the LCB that they are due. This will undoubtedly mean that there will be requests for more documents. Mr. Laws would be wise to advise his client to comply.
How else can our elected representatives determine if checks to Kuhn's Jewelers and Kitty's Flowers are legitimate expenses?
Tomorrow we will ask the question - What happened to that $400,000 a year that Ron Alessi has been talking about?

If You Are Still Having Problems Getting Over Fathers Day…You Gotta Read ‘Post Secrets’
This is one of my favorite new sites.
As you know last weekend was Fathers Day and the cards herein are reflective of the holiday.
Post Secrets is a site started by a Maryland man named Frank who thought it would be interesting to have people send anonymous post cards to a PO Box @ 13345 Copper Ridge Road, Germantown, MD 20874-3454
People write anything they want often on hand made post cards and often telling their innermost secrets just to get them off of their chests.
Each Sunday, Frank posts this weeks best postcards, and I look forward to reading them each Sunday.
This project has taken on a life of his own and now travels the country doing Post Secret Seminars, he has also written 4 books containing thousands of Post Secrets.
Sometimes they are funny, sometimes extremely sad, but always poingnant. Not all are as dark as the one featured here, but I posted it to show the amazing honesty and frailty of the human condition.
I encourage everyone to take a look especially this fathers day issue, I found it quite moving.
Cheers!
