Once again the Pocomoke Tattler has been rated the #1 "Most Influential" Political Blog in the State of Maryland
I still find it amazing how a small Eastern Shore town blog that basically pokes at our openly corrupt municipal government gets rated as the Number 1 "most influential" Blog in the State.
The big stories last week were Senior Pranks at the high school (yes kids we still love you) and the new skate board park opening. Heck we even wrote a RAVING REVIEW of the skatepark from the kids after all the bantering between us "adults" on the Blog.
Then there was the BIG story about our local MESA chapter (Mechanical, Engineering, Science Achievement) going to the State finals (we hope you win) oh and we hope nobody missed the fire whistle test.
There was good news when a story we posted (along with other bloggers) about a missing teenager from Sussex County was found safe & sound. This story rekindled a made for Jerry Springer 'flame war' on the Christine Sheddy thread who is presumed to have been murdered and burned on a farm just outside Pocomoke.
Then there was the commentary on the real estate market where a realt0r was nominated for a Darwin Award because of being so flipping stupid they are polluting the gene pool.
On the flip side in the Pocomoke Tattler Discussion Boards there was a very interesting user contribution of phone recordings from Dr. Daffy. The most interesting one is where Dr Daffy claimed that Boss Hogg (at City Hall) used extortion and threats of exposing her ex-husbands, ex-wife (It's Pocomoke) "backroom pornography" so she would withdraw from the 2005 Pocomoke City Mayoral race. That would be a good case for the feds except the real "Boss Hogg" must have a "goat" picture of her too... not being in the Blog section we don't get Blogger "points" for that one.
There was some political commentary about possible food rationing in America that might have been worthy of "#1 Statewide influence" it was a nice entry, we really hope it helps the folks in Rising Sun or La Plata.
Maybe it was our report on the Pocomoke Soroptomists celebrating 56-YEARS of Community service in Pocomoke, they are a great group my Mother & Sister have been members for decades.
It could have been our report on small town community spirit & pride when we wrote several stories about the new firehouse for the Pocomoke City Volunteer Fire Department and how we as neighbors hated to see them move.
Whatever the reason, from skateparks to claims of crooked electioneering and alleged extortion from city hall to missing persons & flame wars to civic organizations to Senior pranks at the high school, its just one more week in The Friendliest Town on the Eastern Shore.
It's Pocomoke...

A Message From Congressional Candidate Andy Harris
Friends,
With the weather warming up, the days of summer and summer vacations will soon be here. I am looking forward to meeting many of you face to face at the numerous fairs, festivals, and other events throughout the summer. I will be sharing my views with you on the important issues facing the Eastern Shore – how to stimulate the economy, control illegal immigration, win the global war on terror, lower energy costs, and improve access and affordability of healthcare.
I enjoyed the opportunity to share my vision of the future of the country and the first congressional district over the many months leading to the Primary Election through posts on this site – it was a great opportunity to communicate ideas with many of you. But from now on, we won’t be meeting in cyberspace every Monday through the website. Instead, I look forward to meeting you and discussing issues with you in person as I continue traveling throughout the Eastern Shore campaigning for the General Election in November.
As always, if you have any questions, please feel free to contact me at www.andyharris.com. Please check my campaign website often to see the latest news from our campaign.
God Bless,
Andy Harris
Messages We Love To Receive
Dear Joe, You may not remember me but I am the guy who stumbled upon your blog when searching google for national stories about Fernando. Since then when I have had a spare moment or two I have looked at some other "famous" blogs around the country. I hope you can stand another compliment without any hidden agenda.....yours is by far the best I've seen...and the lack of pop ups and other distractions...truly amazing. Are you sure the New york Times or Washington Post is not looking for an investigative journalist? Again, without trying to sound like a broken record, thank you for your great work.
Illinois Man Orders Custom Beer Can Coffin
Bill Bramanti will love Pabst Blue Ribbon eternally, and he's got the custom-made beer-can casket to prove it. "I actually fit, because I got in here," said Bramanti of South Chicago Heights. The 67-year-old Glenwood village administrator doesn't plan on needing it anytime soon, though. He threw a party Saturday...

Setting The Record Straight?
A couple of weeks ago, I posted some information shared with me about the resubdivision of 1004 Camden Ave. That's the one where the owners wanted to stick in a single-family home next to the one already there that¢s broken up into three apartment units. The Planning and Zoning Commission turned them down, but not because these guys didn't jump through the right hoops.
Just so everybody's clear, Rod Flowers, who works for SunTrust Bank as a Vice President and mortgage lender, is on that property's mortgage and he is a partner with Mitchell David and Tim Jones in Captain Investments III LLC. BUT he is NOT a partner in Captain Investments LLC, although Mitchell David and Tim Jones are partners in that separate group. Also, the mortgage for that property wasn't done through SunTrust Bank.
Some people have emailed the bank regulators about this, but it seems like the message is getting garbled to mean that you're accusing Rod Flowers or SunTrust of something illegal. I don't think that's the case and, myself, I don't think that's what the message meant. But if you sent something in, you might want to explain better what you're asking so it doesn't come off as something else entirely.

For what it's worth, I don't know of any legal reason why a banker can't be an investor outside of his livelihood. The real problem as I see it is that your City let a lot of landlords get away with converting these homes. But I can understand people being upset with the way this looks. Banks talk about how they lend to restore blighted areas, right?
Don't shoot the messenger. And I'm taking down the previous posts about this so people don't get confused and because there were some really nasty personal comments in there I shouldn't have let through. That's just not necessary, so out they go.

Jose Canseco Walks Away From His Mansion To Foreclosure
You can't make this stuff up. Former major league baseball player Jose Canseco, said on Thursday he had lost his California mansion to foreclosure -- one of the first celebrities to publicly admit being a statistic in the U.S. housing crisis.

Delmarva Little Leaguers Pack Perdue Stadium
It was amazing to see so many kids entering the stadium last Saturday evening. The kids had a blast, (my Grandson included) and they had the biggest attendance of the year so far that evening.
If you're looking to get out of the house and truly enjoy an outdoor event, you just can't find a less expensive form of entertainment than the Shorebirds Games. If you haven't been, try it, you'll like it.

Tim Chaney's Nephew Delivers Another Photo From Iraq
It seems it's not good enough for Mr. Chaney's Nephew to be stationed in Iraq as some are challenging the validity of his photos. That being said, here's another one he's delivered. As things have changed on this Blog, you're not seeing the negative comments from some of these people. Tim, as a personal note, thank your Nephew for me as we appreciate his service to our Country as well as the pictures.

More Special Olympic Photos
With the Daily Times being short handed we're noticing their lack of presence at many events, such as this one. It's a shame because it's events like this one that bring out the very special people who truly care about people and this community. Although some were assigned to Host the event and others played a large roll in its success, many were in the background. It was a very special day for a very special cause. If you're wondering why the names aren't placed here, I don't believe they want to be recognized. Not here anyway. There's a special place elsewhere for all of these people and it's not on a Blog.
2008 Women's NCAA Bowling Champions
I was recently invited to come celebrate with the Town of Princess Anne and UMES in honoring these National Champions. It was a fantastic turn out and the support was exactly what these women deserved. Congratulations to them all and I have to say, that is one beautiful college.
UPDATE: I just learned that UMES was ranked the second most beautiful campus in the United States. Duke was #1 and UMES #2.
The Horse Whisperer
This is the Horse Whisperer who was at SonLife Community Church Sunday.
His name is Scot Tillinghast from Dundee, NY, (www.faithstepministries.com). The horse, Ace, is was donated for training on Sunday by a couple from southern Delaware. They had a trainer work with the horse all summer of 2007 and he could get the horse to “load” only once in that time. Although the program was about an hour with the education and explanations to the audience of 215 people, it took Scot about 25 minutes have the horse willingly load and then unload at least 10 times. Then the owner was also able to load the horse repeatedly on his trailer.

What would be your message in the sky?
I have rented you a skywriter (plane that writes messages with smoke in the sky). You know, the one like in The Wizard of Oz, and the ones that the hopeless romantics write "Will you marry me?" for their potential brides.
What town do you live in? What would your message say for everyone to see?
Why this message? Would you own up to it if someone asked if it were your message?
Have fun. Remain anonymous if needed. Have a good day at work . . SunnyInOC
