Breaking News!

Caps WIN 3-1 and are now in the Playoffs! Congratulations!

Welcome To The Shorebirds Game

It's Saturday Night and the General Admission Seats are packed. I'm told there are around 6,000 people in attendance and the Shorebirds are trailing 2 to nothing and just made a nice double play to start the bottom of the 5th inning.

Earlier the Shorebirds Catcher was hit in the head by a ball while batting and was removed from the game. Sorry for the late start but let's see what I can deliver the rest of the game.

The Hagerstown Suns Pitcher is throwing a "no hitter" so far.

So much for a no hitter! Man on first and third, one out. Wild pitch, man from third scores! Man from first advances to second. 2 outs. Suns 2, Shorebirds 1.

OK, we're in the bottom of the 6th, one out and a man on second and third base. Big Bad Mahoney is up to bat and just sacrificed himself to SCORE the man from third base, score 2-2, the Shorebirds are tied. The inning ends with a tie score.

7,741 official attendance tonight.

The 7th inning is over, no one scored. 2-2.

Error on the Shorebirds cathcher and a man scores allowing the Suns to go ahead by one run, 3-2. We're now in the bottom of the 8th.

We start off the bottom of the 8th and David Cash just hit a double down the third base line. Wild pitch, Cash advances to third. There is now one out. Make that two outs now. Big 6' 7" 260 lb. Mahoney is up to bat. He smacks the ball, sends Cash HOME and gets a double on the play! We're tied 3-3 with a man on second!

ANOTHER DOUBLE, Mahoney is also home and another man on second! 4-3 Shorebirds! Bases loaded, 2 outs and the Shorebirds are giving them a run for their money. The rain is coming down more and more but no one is leaving and the game is getting very exciting.

The Suns have a new pitcher warming up, awe, too bad, eh? The inning ends but the Shorebirds are now up 4-3.

I was just informed the Caps are in the Playoffs! Caps WON 3-1!!!!!!!! Congratulations!

There are TWO down and one out left to win the first game of the year! Is it wishful thinking? GAME OVER! Shorebirds WIN! Time for some FIREWORKS!

PLOW DAYS IN MOUNT HERMON

Joe:

You won't believe it . . . but the Amish were here today plowing fields at the corner of Airport Road and Mt. Hermon Road.

There were 5 or six teams of horses or mules. Each team was equipped with a plow or disc. One team had six horses tied together pulling an 8' disc with no trouble.

Here is a photograph above. Oyster fritters, barbique chicken were served throughout the day.

There were thousands in attendance. The event was partially sponsored by Reverend Oren Perdue.

Thought you might be interested.

Cheers,

Johnnie

Chimp Stole Dart Gun

Police: Chimp stole dart gun, lunged at police officer before he was shot
New details released on the fatal shooting of 17-year-old chimpanzee
By Joshunda Sanders

Saturday, April 05, 2008

A chimpanzee that had escaped from a Bastrop research center in March snatched a tranquilizer gun from an animal attendant, leapt from a truck bed and threatened a police officer by flailing its arms before being shot several times, according to documents released Friday.

On March 12, Tony, a 140-pound, 171/2-year-old chimpanzee got out of the play area by jumping more than 15 feet from a jungle gym and grabbing the top of a corral wall. Tranquilizer darts failed to subdue him. A University of Texas police officer eventually shot and killed the animal.

According to a memo from UT police to executives at the University of Texas M.D. Anderson Cancer Center, which manages the Keeling Center for Comparative Medicine and Research, the officer who shot Tony watched the animal take a tranquilizer gun from an animal attendant who was trying to capture the animal according to university protocol.

The memo was obtained by the American-Statesman through a Freedom of Information Act request.

The police report does not name the officer, who has returned to duty, said Wendy Gottsegen, a spokeswoman for the M.D. Anderson Cancer Center.

"The officer was approximately 100 yards from the area and saw an attendant in one of the truck beds with a dart/tranquilizer gun," the report said. "After what appeared to be unsuccessful attempts to tranquilize the chimpanzee, the animal jumped into the truck bed and lunged at the animal attendant. The chimpanzee took the attendant's dart gun away from him and discarded it."

When the truck sped up, the chimpanzee either fell off the truck or jumped from it, according to the report. The officer, who had been watching Tony from property adjacent to the Keeling Center, said Tony started coming toward him, the report said.

"The chimpanzee started flailing its arms. The officer shouted at least twice that he was going to shoot," the report said. "In fear for his safety, the officer then fired several times, striking the chimpanzee."

The officer slipped and fell backward while firing his gun, but the chimpanzee kept coming toward him, the report said. The officer fired again but he did not count how many times he shot at the animal, the report said. The officer remembers "hearing each shot but not counting them because the threat was still coming at him," it said.

Tony collapsed into nearby brush. Tony's escape was the second of three by chimpanzees at the Keeling Center since November. Jake, a 17-year-old chimp, has escaped from his enclosure twice — once in November with another chimp and again Wednesday — but each time he was quickly recaptured. The center this week vowed to tighten security.

This was sent to me by a reader of Salisbury News.

Illegal Use Of A Farm Tag

My Friend "Cliff from Delmar" saw this guy today driving his Toyota Prius Hybrid with Delaware Farm Truck tags! I'm sure he wasn't on his way back from an errand at Tractor Supply, lol. Furthermore, I'd be willing to bet his yuppie self hasn't even ever stepped foot on a farm, let alone own one.

Section 1. Amend Chapter 21, Title 21 of the Delaware Code
Ҥ 2113. Special farm vehicle registration.

Farmers may register vehicles for farm use in the following manner:

(1) Farm truck license plates (“FT” tags):

a. Farmers may qualify for the reduced registration fee for “FT” license tags if they derive at least $1,000.00 of their annual income from the operation of their farm and they own or rent at least 10 acres which is actively used in the farming operation from which they derive that income.

b. Any vehicle upon which an “FT” license tag is affixed must be used exclusively in the operation of a farm.

c. Farmers shall not hire or rent the farm truck, or permit a farm truck to be used for hauling merchandise, farm products, or other items whatsoever under rent, hire, or for pay.

d. Farmers shall not use any vehicle upon which an “FT” license tag is affixed for any use except in the operation of a farm owned or rented by the registered owner of such vehicle or in aid of and assistance to another farmer for harvest purposes.

(2) Farm vehicles exempt from inspection and registration (“Farm Vehicle” tags):

a. Farmers may qualify for a registration and inspection waiver for a farm motor vehicle, farm vehicle, or farm trailer if they derive at least $1,000.00 of their annual income from the operation of their farm and they own or rent at least 10 acres which are actively used in the farming operation from which they derive that income.

b. Any vehicle or trailer upon which a “Farm Vehicle” tag is affixed must be used exclusively in the operation of a farm.

c. No farm motor vehicle, farm vehicle, or farm trailer may be used for hire or for any use except in the exclusive operation of a farm owned or rented by the owner of such vehicle or trailer, or in aid of and assistance to another farmer for harvest purposes.

d. Farmers shall not hire or rent any farm motor vehicle, farm vehicle, or farm trailer, or permit a farm motor vehicle, farm vehicle, or farm trailer to be used for hauling merchandise, farm products, or other items whatsoever under rent, hire, or for pay.

e. Farmers shall not use any vehicle or trailer upon which an “Farm Vehicle” tag is affixed for any use except in the operation of a farm owned or rented by the titled owner of such vehicle or trailer or in aid of and assistance to another farmer for harvest purposes.

f. No farm motor vehicle, farm vehicle, or farm trailer may be operated or towed upon the public highways or roads unless:

1. Those highways and roads are within a 10 mile radius of a farm owned or managed by the owner of the vehicle or trailer;

2. The vehicle or trailer is operated or towed by a person who is properly licensed by the Division of Motor Vehicles;

3. The vehicle or trailer is properly equipped with a stop light, turn signals and brakes which are in a safe operating condition.”

Section 2. Amend §2151(8), Title 21 of the Delaware Code by deleting the words “by farmers who derive 70 percent or more of their income from the operation of their farms” and substituting in lieu thereof the words “by farmers who derive at least $1,000 of their annual income from the operation of their farm and they own or rent at least 10 acres which are actively used in the farming operation from which they derive that income”.

Home prices to drop another 50% before we hit bottom: Housing and investment guru Peter Schiff!

Watch as the "it's a great time to buy" propaganda spitting realtor stumbles over her analysis of the housing market as Peter Schiff lays down the cold hard facts about the real estate crash!

Where do you think the market will go based on reality not the fact you personally overpaid or over-borrowed?

Shorebird Game Tonight!

The Shorebirds are in action again tonight against the Hagerstown Suns. The Shorebirds dropped their first two game and look to come back and split the series. Last night their bats warmed up a bit more, but Hagerstown came back a little hotter.

If you did not come last night you missed a great game and a amazing fireworks display courtesy of Froggy 99.9. The great crowd gave a thunderous applause at the end and let me say the fireworks were worth comming out there alone. Great job guys! I think Joe got some pics from the display and I hope he puts them up if they came out.

So if you missed fireworks last night there will be another display tonight. Tonight is Sylvan Hit The Books Night. This is one of 4 Sylvan Learning "Hit the Books" Night and it honors all participating students from Sussex County. There will be a pre-game parade.

The game starts at 7:05.

Capitals Fan Reaches Out

Due to Carolina losing and Philly winning there is only two scenarios the Caps make the playoffs. A win would get them in, and I hope they play for that win. An overtime loss also gets them in. Either way they win the division and get the 3rd seed and will probably face Ottawa whom the have beet 4 times this season.
A loss in regulation and they are out. Comcast has just reported that they had their biggest audience ever for a Caps game on TV for the Lightning game Thursday, and it was a home game! People are coming around! Caps are getting popular. Its amazing what winning does for a team in a market that really doesn't support it.
I only wish more people would take the time to either watch a game or get to one in person. It truly is in my opinion the best sport of the major four. And this coming from someone who cant even skate!
So even if you are not hockey fan, please root for a Caps win tonight!! Thanks and GO CAPS!!

JIM

This is true, though I'm a Red Wings fan I still cannot stand to see a market fumble for the die hard fans of the area, not to mention this is great of the game. Hockey is my favorite pro sport and right next to college basketball/football for all time favorite. The orginization is great for the community! So get out and root for them

The Caps play Florida tonight at 7pm at Comcast arena on Comcast Sports!

Thanks for the e-mail Jim!

Sheriff Lewis Does It Again!

Incident: Possession of CDS

Location: Glen Avenue at Beaglin Park Dr., Salisbury, MD

Suspect: 1. John William Gordy, 52, Salisbury, MD

Narrative: On 3 April 2008, Sheriff Lewis stopped a vehicle operated by
John Gordy on Glen Avenue in Salisbury, MD. When Sheriff Lewis made
contact with Gordy, the Sheriff observed in plain view what he recognized
as a pipe used to smoke crack cocaine and an open container of alcohol.
Based on that observation, Sheriff Lewis conducted a probable cause search
of the vehicle. Inside the center console of Gordy’s vehicle, the Sheriff
located three separate small plastic baggies containing suspected Crack
cocaine, another small plastic baggie containing prescription drugs
(Valium), and an additional crack cocaine glass pipe. These items were
concealed inside of a Maxwell House Coffee bag which was further concealed
inside a vinyl eyeglass case.

Gordy was arrested and transported to the Wicomico County Central Booking
Unit where Gordy was charged with Possession with the Intent to Distribute
CDS. After being taken before the District Court Commissioner Gordy was
released on Personal Recognizance.

ADDITIONALLY: I was told to keep an eye on this case as I believe there may have allegedly been additional drugs and or cash or both found as well.

been burglarized in the recent past. While the deputy checked the exterior

Lee Sheppard. The deputy was able to get into the residence and detain
Sheppard and the rest of the residence was searched further once other

FOP Press Release

The Wicomico County Fraternal Order of Police Lodge #111 (FOP)
announces that it has filed a Petition for Writ of Mandamus and
Complaint for Declaratory Relief in the Circuit Court for Wicomico
County, on behalf of the Wicomico County Sheriff’s Deputies.

This action is the next step in a process which the FOP began to
improve the retirement and disability benefits for Wicomico County
Sheriff’s Deputies. In November 2006, the voters of Wicomico County
approved a referendum which amended the Wicomico County Charter to
require the County Council to adopt a labor code providing for
collective bargaining with binding arbitration of disputes between
the County and an authorized representative of the Sheriff’s Office
Deputies. A labor code was introduced to the County Council by
County Executive Rick Pollitt, and then several amendments were made
to the code by the Council. The Code was adopted in December of
2007. Pollitt vetoed the labor code on January 9, 2008, and on
January 15, 2008 the County Council unanimously overrode that veto to
adopt the labor code as law.

The labor code as adopted does not hold the County Council to binding
arbitration, and by doing so, disregards the intent of the referendum
which was overwhelmingly supported by the voters of Wicomico County.
The Sheriff’s Deputies believe that the referendum approved by the
citizens permits collective bargaining with binding arbitration with
the County Government, which includes both the County Executive and
the County Council.

The FOP respects the County Council’s position to retain the checks
and balances of the County Government; however we believe that the
labor code as adopted does not follow the will of the voters of
Wicomico County.

The Petition and Complaint also addresses two other issues with the
labor code; one where the arbitrator is limited to comparing the
Wicomico County Deputies to only other Maryland Eastern Shore counties
in consideration of wages, hours, or terms and conditions of
employment. The second issue limits the arbitrator to only consider
the revenue of the general fund of Wicomico County. The position of
the FOP is that the arbitrator should be able to consider all counties
in Maryland, and other revenue sources for Wicomico County.

Iraq Hockey League

The Detroit Red Wings foreign scout flies to Baghdad to watch a young
Iraqi play hockey in the new American sponsored league, and is suitably
impressed and arranges for him to come over to the US.

Ken Holland signs him to a one year contract and the kid joins the team
for the preseason.

Two weeks later the Wings are down 4-0 to the Blackhawks with only 10
minutes left. Mike Babcock gives the young Iraqi the nod and he goes in.
The kid is a sensation, scores 5 goals in 10 minutes and wins the game for
the Wings! The fans are delighted, the players and coaches are delighted,
and the media loves the new star.

When the player comes off the ice he phones his mom to tell her about his
first day of NHL hockey. "Hello mom, guess what?" he says in an Iraqi
accent. "I played for 10 minutes today, we were 4-0 down, but I scored 5
goals and we won. Everybody loves me, the fans, the media, they all love
me."

"Wonderful," says his mom, "Let me tell you about my day. Your father got
shot in the street and robbed, your sister and I were ambushed, raped and
beaten, and your brother has joined a gang, and all while you
were having such great time."

The young Iraqi is very upset. "What can I say mom, but I'm so sorry."

"Sorry? You're Sorry?" says his mom, "It's your fault we moved to Salisbury
in the first place!"
