Salisbury Kennel Club Dog Show This Weekend
This AKC Sanctioned B/OB Match will be held this Saturday and Sunday at 1305 S. Division Street. They will have refreshments and indoor grooming available. It starts around 10:30 AM on Saturday and 9:00 AM on Sunday.
Don't let this photo above fool you, it's NOT at the Civic Center. It's next to the old Skate Land in Salisbury. If you're looking for something to do and or wanted to make a donation towards their new facility near Winter Place Park, this would be a great time to do so.
There will be more bitches on one room than you've seen in a very long time. LOL
High School Basketball Regional Finals!
It's official its an all Lower Shore Worcester County 1A Boys Regional Final again in basketball. Snow Hill, the number one seed, beat Kent Count 77-48 last night to advance to the regional final. Number three seed Pocomoke beat number 2 Cambridge 63-62 to advance. This will be an intense game with not only a trip to the Comcast Center at College Park on the line, but also bragging rights for the year. Pocomoke looks to spoil a perfect season for the Eagles who are 24-0. Pocomoke comes in with an impressive 19-4 record.
The game will be held at 2:30 at UMES tomorrow.
In the 2A matchup Wicomico will take on Elkton who both come in with a 19-3 record. Wicomico survived hardfought game against North Caroline and Queen Anne's to earn the opportunity to go to College Park for the Final Four. Wicomico found their inside game against Queen Anne's and will be needed because the Indians' scouting report shows Elkton having a 6-8 monster in the paint.
The game wil be held at 6pm at Wicomico High School tomorrow. This is a 1 and 2 seed matchup.

It's no wonder Paula Morris has been recognized as one of the Top 10 Women in Maryland. If you haven't been to their Site, GO HERE.
63,000 People Lost Their Jobs In February
Employers slashed 63,000 jobs in February, the most in five years. This exposes the clearest sign yet that our country is heading dangerously toward recession or is in one already. Time for some more TIF's & Developer Reimbursements, right Barrie? Like we ALL didn't see this coming!

EXCLUSIVE BREAKING NEWS
The Salisbury Zoo has allegedly hired a new Zoo Director from Rhode Island. I do not have all the details about HIM, YET, but as the information comes in I'll keep you posted, background checks and all. Just kidding.
My Electronic Intelligence Team is trying their best to intercept e-mail messages back and forth to get more details. Time will tell us more. Barrie has to be sitting there saying, HOW IN THE HELL DOES THIS GUY GET THIS INFORMATION? ROTFLMAO!
Ocean City Panera Bread Review
The decor is nice, roomy, and was NOT over crowded, which I thought it
might be at 11:45am today. They were rolling people through and delivering
some good food. We ordered the You Pick Two, which was a half asiago roast
beef and a bowl of brocolli chedder and then another bowl of soup (french
onion) and two baggets of bread. The sandwich was awesome, soups were
excellent, and the bread was probably our favorite. All this for $10.50,
not bad since it fed two comfortably for lunch. I though maybe the prices
would be higher considering the area. Think of it this way... it costs
more for two to eat from wendy's which is a stones throw away and I cant
even begin to compare the two, lets just say that panera offers a quality
product!
Breaking News, What An Honor!
Ladies & Gentlemen, if you don't know Mrs. Paula Morris, you're missing out on one fine Lady.
If you'll recall, last year Mrs. Debbie Campbell was Honored by the Daily Record as one of Maryland's TOP 100 WOMEN. The Daily Times refused to do anything about recognizing Debbie at the time and I recall challenging Greg Bassett on a Radio Show asking him WHY? He stated he would revisit it and some time later The Daily Times finally put something out there, way in the back, as usual.
Nevertheless, this is an honor of a lifetime and I am PLEASED to announce That Paula has been chosen this year as one of the TOP 100 WOMEN in Maryland! If you can't tell I'm excited about this, I AM!
Paula founded and works with "Kids of Honor" and was recognized back in December by Debbie Campbell, as seen above, Debbie & Paula are also next to eachother in the first picture on the right. When I spoke with Paula this morning, I asked her if there's anything she's like to say and as always, first class, she replied, let me send you a link to our Site as well as our Mission Statement.

Affordable Housing Resources Forum
The presenters were (from right to left as you faced the table from the
door:
Councilwoman Debbie Campbell. From the Maryland Department of Housing and
Community Development - Barbara Schmitt, Lender Relations Manager,
Single-Family housing; Bill Ariano, Deputy Director, Division of Development
Finance; Andy Cohen, Low Income Housing Tax Credit (LIHTC) Administrator;
and Nancy Palmer, Assistant Director, Special Loans Single-Family Programs.
While a surprising amount of people showed up yesterday for this forum Councilwoman Campbell held, not one of the other Council Members attended? No Mayor, but I did hear that John Pick popped his head in the door, smiles and then walked away.
I don't want to take away from this meeting but I do find it damn interesting how Lynn Cathcart will show up at any other meeting she thinks Debbie and Terry are trying to gang up on the Mayor and the rest of the Council and then finds out she's completely wrong. Same goes for Shanie Shields.
I guess my point is, Barrie Tilghman and most of the City Council don't care about the environment and what's best for Salisbury. Not unless they can get front page news out of it. Baby steps, that's what it will take to bring Salisbury back to being a vibrant City. Oh, you have to get rid of this Mayor and put someone in there that you trust and KNOW won't be put there secretly, like Louise Smith.
Great Job Debbie!

If YOU Paid $6.5 Mil For A Newer Press, What Would YOU Expect?
Obviously the Daily Times doesn't give a crap about what YOU think, they're the only print newspaper around. Come on now, this is BS!
As I stated several times, the Front Page ALWAYS has that black line running down it each and every day. If "I" was extruding one of my parts in my manufacturing business and we were "printing" the name of the company purchasing from me on the lamp, do you think they would accept CRAP like this, smudges all that way down the part?
You CAN'T come back and say, well you're only paying .50 Cents for it. Believe me, that's top market value for a Newspaper that's simply copying a FREE Blog Site anyway!
Then there's the trick they've been playing on you for months. They have been reducing the size of their font little by little so when they dropped down to this, (YOU MUST NOW WEAR GLASSES TO READ) print, you hopefully wouldn't notice!
Now either my eyesight got a ton worse in the past two months or their font size dropped. I'll bank on their font size dropping.
Some papers are being delivered all mangled up and quite frankly Ladies & Gentlemen, the Daily Times SUCKS!
I want to add, I have been in the Printing Business/Industry for 25 years now. I manufacture all the Safelights Film & Plate Manufacturers use to process film in darkrooms and or plated in the Pre Press Room. So yes, I know more about the printing business than Greg Bassett will ever know in his lifetime.
The quality YOU and I are receiving from the Daily Times is truly the worst product I have EVER seen, yet we pay for it? I have to have it each day for exactly this reason. Trust me Folks, IF they get their act together and they print a quality product, I'll pat them on the back for doing so. Until then, Gannett, you just pissed away $6.5 million on CRAP!
The Daily Times Can't Survive Without Salisbury News
Anyone who knows anything about the Former Sheriff Hunter Nelms knows NO ONE gets an interview with the man. That being said, on the front page of today's Daily Times, (yes, it actually arrived this morning) they have an article I headlined yesterday referencing a former Sheriff's Deputy.
You're seeing SALISBURY Police information after all the years. You've got a year in review and all sorts of Salisbury News information right there in The Daily Times now. So how will this work from this point forward?
Let's see, I'm one person with 5 other part time writers. The Daily Times has a Staff of more than 200 and they're copying me. Now that's what I call a compliment! Nevertheless, I get e-mail messages from some at The Daily Times if they think something isn't right in something I stated about them, so I know they're constantly reading my Site.
Then, all you have to do it watch my articles go up and 20 minutes later you'll see something time stamped on their update section on line copying me. Again, the funny part is, you pay for their crap, yet you can usually get it here first.
Let me assure you Ladies & Gentlemen, ALL of the major news sources come to Salisbury News FIRST. Why, might you ask? Because they know it will get PRINTED! We treat EVERY story like it's a great one! What the Daily Times has failed on is that they forgot a major aspect of news and information. Even though someone bringing you information may seem small at times but to the person sharing it, it's HUGE! The Daily Times has forgotten where they came from and they will fail. You wait and see.
To Joe G, thanks for reading Salisbury News and you're once AGAIN welcome for the front page news. How does it feel to be second now?
As I recall all the old Daily Times articles on this particular issue, Bassett ragged on Hunter Nelms to no end and beat the guy up pretty good. Today their article doesn't get into any real detail or quotes from the Judge. I guesss they were afraid of all the commments I got by keepin it real? Nevertheless, thanks for not kicking Hunter Nelms in the face again.

Councilwoman Campbell Convenes Highly Successful Affordable Housing Resources Forum
On Thursday, March 6, Councilwoman Debbie Campbell convened a panel of state experts to discuss access to resources for the development and preservation of affordable single-family and multifamily housing. The audience included developers, construction industry professionals and local non-profit partner representatives. Topics included state programs that provide:
grants and loans for development of new affordable single-family and multifamily housing;
grants and loans that make homeownership affordable;
grants and loans for the renovation and preservation of existing rental units;
funding for energy efficiency and lead paint abatement in owner occupied and rental properties; and
grants available to income-qualified seniors so that they can make modifications needed to remain in their homes.
Examples of “green” construction and some of the resources available to encourage environmentally friendly construction were also discussed. All employers who attended were encouraged to sign up for the State's "Live Near Your Work" program. Through this program, the state matches employer contribution dollar for dollar, and the current list of participating employers includes businesses of all sizes from very small and mid-size to the very large.
Participants brought their own “brown bag” lunches to council chambers in the Government Office Building in downtown Salisbury and enjoyed a casual atmosphere while listening intently. There was an active and instructive free-flowing dialog between presenters and participants that maximized the value of the information, Campbell observed.
PowerPoint(R) presentations on the various topics will be available. Campbell is making arrangements to have copies of the meeting handouts available at the joint city/county planning office.
Based on the sizable attendance, the scope of questions raised and comments from participants regarding the usefulness and quality of the information presented, the session was evaluated as a “resounding success.” Future sessions on foreclosure prevention, local resources for homeownership, and “green” construction and development are planned for the near future.
POCOMOKE NEWS: Sysco Cash -N- Carry to Remain Open!!!
Recently, there has been a rumor flying around Pocomoke that the Cash -N- Carry store at Lankford Sysco would be closing.
Lankford - Sysco Cash -N- Carry offers what every home town grocery had; service, conversation, convenience, quality, and value; all while simultaneously supplying many of the schools, restaurants, hospitals, nursing homes and government agencies throughout the Mid-Atlantic region.
As a regular customer, I found this quite disturbing, so I placed a call to Mr. Fred Lankford himself to ask if there were any truth to this rumor. He responded with the following written statement...
QUOTE FROM PRESIDENT FRED LANKFORD:
The Lankford-Sysco Food Services Cash-n-Carry is not closing and is open 6 days a week offering unique, high quality Foodservice products to help families
and organizations save money on their food budget.
The Cash -N- Carry offers the customer something that has simply been lost in our modern day society, and that is the old time neighborhood grocery store. Even with the huge corporate headquarters looming behind this humble block and mortar building it is filled with people who retain pride in a job well done.
Lankford - Sysco Cash -N- Carry offers what every home town grocery had; service, conversation, convenience, quality, and value; all while simultaneously supplying many of the schools, restaurants, hospitals, nursing homes and government agencies throughout the Mid-Atlantic region.
Walk into the Cash -N- Carry any day and you will receive a hello from a friendly face. The meat department is superior in it's quality, pricing and value for the dollar. If you are interested in purchasing a larger quantity you can do so with a quick conversation with a real butcher and have your steaks cut to the size that you desire.
Their produce department rivals any of the local stores for all of the basics in fruits and vegetables offering local farm fresh produce when in season at fantastic prices.
The Deli is another great feature that is by far the best value in the area with a daily lunch special that is impossible to beat.
But the favorite for any bargain shopper is the damaged section. This area in the back of the store offers on any given day a range of dented cans containing items as broadly scoped as caviar, artichoke hearts, and tuna fish to tomato sauce, kidney beans, chocolate pudding to canned prunes.
This area is filled with items that get damaged in the warehouse across the street and are sold to the public at a deep discount. The selection varies from day to day and one never knows what they may find.
We are personally very glad that the Cash -N- Carry will remain open and that this was merely a rumor.
Late Third Quarter Charge too much for Queen Anne's
Wicomico High School,
Top seeded Wi-Hi survived another big test from Queen Anne’s thanks to a big time run at the end of the third quarter to pull away and earn a 98-83 victory to propel them into the Regional Finals against Elkton. Both teams had high field goal percentages which nearly brought the Indians to the century mark in scoring.
The first half started off like the North Caroline game Tuesday night with the visiting team scoring first, Wi-Hi building up a lead, and then surrendering the lead back to single digits. Devon Gale of Wi-Hi lead out the opening lead with a quick 7 point burst to make it 11-2. The Lions Mike Hurst stopped the run with a basket and coupled with offense and defense from Dyrell Wilson brought the first quarter to a close with Wi Hi being up 21-20.
If the game had a story line it was Wi-Hi saying “whatever you can do, we can do better” and it was evident in the second quarter. Jed Danmyer gave the Lions a short lived lead at the start of the second but Gavin Dennis came right back with a 2 point goal and free throw on the play to get the lead back to the Indians. Queen Anne’s was able to pass around Wi-Hi’s defense to keep it a close game but Wi-Hi kept the edge with balanced scoring from Gavin Dennis, Brennan Gross, and DeAngelo Gie. Ronald Hall hit a late second banked three to put the game within three, but Gavin Dennis was fouled at the buzzer and was awarded three free throws. Dennis missed the first three, but was given another opportunity after a bench violation on Queen Anne’s side. Dennis drained the try and sent Wi-Hi into the locker room up 48-44.
A deluge of scoring opened the third with 20 points being scored in the first 3 minutes which ended with Wi Hi being up 57-54. The lead got pushed to 6, but back to back baskets form Tyler German and Wilson got the Lions back within 2. A late rush of baskets from Kimble Brown, Gie, and Gale pushed the lead to 74-63. Wi-Hi was able to manipulate Queen Anne’s D to provide the lift.
Queen Anne’s was not able to recover from that rush and could not find the basket often enough to keep it close like they were able to do throughout the game. Gie and Otis Waters was able to extend the lead to 86-71 at the 4:25 mark along with Wi-Hi making most of their free throws down the stretch to keep it completely out of reach.
Game Notes.
Wi-Hi’s coach Butch Waller said “They played a lot better than their record. Number 32 (TJ Brooks) was tough for us.” Queen Anne was able to get a lot of outlet passes that resulted in baskets but Coach Waller was able to make adjustments at the half to silence the threat. Queen Anne’s 3-2 defense was tough but was eventually picked apart. “We worked a lot better down low and was able to get scoring there where we didn’t have it last game” Coach Waller stated. Wi Hi takes on the number 2 seed Elkton who defeated Easton tonight Saturday at Wi-Hi. The game starts 6pm. Please come and support your Wicomico Indians.
