Affordable Housing Resources Forum

The presenters were (from right to left as you faced the table from the
door:
Councilwoman Debbie Campbell. From the Maryland Department of Housing and
Community Development - Barbara Schmitt, Lender Relations Manager,
Single-Family housing; Bill Ariano, Deputy Director, Division of Development
Finance; Andy Cohen, Low Income Housing Tax Credit (LIHTC) Administrator;
and Nancy Palmer, Assistant Director, Special Loans Single-Family Programs.

While a surprising amount of people showed up yesterday for this forum Councilwoman Campbell held, not one of the other Council Members attended? No Mayor, but I did hear that John Pick popped his head in the door, smiles and then walked away.

I don't want to take away from this meeting but I do find it damn interesting how Lynn Cathcart will show up at any other meeting she thinks Debbie and Terry are trying to gang up on the Mayor and the rest of the Council and then finds out she's completely wrong. Same goes for Shanie Shields.

I guess my point is, Barrie Tilghman and most of the City Council don't care about the environment and what's best for Salisbury. Not unless they can get front page news out of it. Baby steps, that's what it will take to bring Salisbury back to being a vibrant City. Oh, you have to get rid of this Mayor and put someone in there that you trust and KNOW won't be put there secretly, like Louise Smith.

Great Job Debbie!

  1. Thanks to Ms. Campbell for taking some action to improved the "bad housing market", instead of just making it worse by talking about it. If more attention was focused on the low interest rates and good supply of well-priced homes on the market, maybe people would be less reluctant to buy, thereby improving our own economy here in SBY. It's time to stop sensationalizing the bad and start talking-up the good. And there are plenty of good opportunities. Now is the time to be a buyer.

  2. Sir:

    Councilwoman Campbell is a real ray of sunshine for Salisbury's City government. Let's hope that she doesn't call it quits after one term because of what she has had to tolerate from Tilghman and her puppets, beginning with the "Dream Team" that was recruited by Mr. Alessi.
