Salisbury City Webmaster Makes an HONEST Mistake

Go to the Salisbury City web site and find the "City Council page". In the middle of the page is the list of all five members of Salisbury's city council, their contact info and a picture of each one.

Mike DunnGo to the picture of Louise Smith move your mouse (cursor) over the image. What do you see? "MIKE DUNN"! I don't know who the city's webmaster is and I'm sure it was an HONEST mistake. But come on! The Irony!

As you will be reading over the next few days, it is becoming increasingly apparent that Barrie Tilghman gave Louise a bunch of DVD's with Mikey's greatest hits and told her that this was how you run a meeting.

A Concerned Reader Reaches Out

Didn't know if you had anyone lately say anything about a white man driving a tan taurus like car stopping people for money? I was approached twice last night by the same guy. Once at the Rite Aid at Civic Ave and Mt. Hermon and a few minutes later at La Tolteca.

I saw him go to Goin Nuts after he stopped me at Rite Aid and he stopped my friends as we were going into LaTolteca. He's scary because he drove up beside my car, jumped out and left his car running and his door open. That crap cares me and I didn't know if he had stopped anyone else.

Did anyone else see this guy doing this? If so, please comment what you saw and I'm confident the proper authorities will do something about it.

Armed Robbery in North Salisbury

The Shell station on North Salisbury Blvd. across from the Lowe's store has just been robbed. The suspects are two young, black males and were carrying semi-automatic weapons. They should be considered armed and dangerous.

Officers from the Wicomico County Sheriff's Department, the Salisbury Police Department and the Maryland State Police responded. At present officers are searching for the two suspects.

Founder Of J.S. Hovnanian Builders Dies

Jirair S. Hovnanian, an immigrant who founded two building companies, has died.

Hovnanian was 80 and died Tuesday at his home in Mount Laurel, said his grandson, Garo Hovnanian, a member of the third generation involved with J.S. Hovnanian & Sons, of Mount Laurel.

Jirair Hovnanian started the company in 1964 after splitting from a company he started with his three brothers. One of those brothers, Kevork Hovnanian, started a company that eventually became Hovnanian Enterprises Inc., a publicly traded company based in Red Bank.

The two companies have no business relationship.

The Eastern Shore Loves Andy Harris

Look, I don't care who you like in the race for Congress, I have seen who is getting most of the attention and I personally don't care what the polls are saying, even if Andy Harris is ahead.

I have traveled through the Eastern Shore to the Western Shore and there are Andy Harris Signs everywhere! People like this man, they believe him and his track record proves he's the man for the job.

I was recently at a Republican Candidate Forum and while most of the people were inside, I stayed right at the door coming in and out, still being able to listen to the Candidates speak. I personally watched almost every single person coming in and out of the Forum and you know what, I watched almost every single person go right to the Andy Harris Signs and Brochures while Pipken's sat full and everyone elses as well.

I'm not kidding you Folks, Andy Harris is a clear front runner and everything else is hype. WHO was the last one out of that room? Andy Harris! Why? Because everyone wanted to ask him a question or two. They wanted to thank him and let him know he has their vote.

I'll be posting more about the Forum later but I'm simply telling you from what I've personally seen, Andy Harris has proven to be the most worthy Candidate. If you don't believe me, take a ride to the Bay Brisge and see all the Harris Signs.

Oh, I should add, THERE'S NOT ONE GILCHREST SIGN, NOT ONE!

Blognetnews Responds & Deserves A Post

"Joe,

There are a few factual errors in your comments on BNN.

This is absolutely false: "Do you realize that once you put an article up there and someone clicks on it, you do NOT get credit on your own Blog for hits? Blognetnews retains those Hits. When you're selling Ad Space, this screws you up..."

BNN only posts the first few sentences of your posts so that anyone wanting to read the whole thing has to click through -- thus giving you traffic that helps you sell ad space.

This is only true if by "recently" you mean eight months ago: There was another flaw Blognetnews had that they recently changed. You used to be able to go on there and vote as many times as you wanted on a Blog.

You ask what does BNN do for veteran bloggers? We make the Maryland public affairs blogosphere easily searchable, we give Maryland bloggers a headline service they can use to promote each others latests posts (note the links in the service go directly from blog to blog, cutting BNN out of the middle), when there is news in Maryland we make it easy for BNN users in other states to click straight through and see what the Maryland blogosphere is saying.

Most people think that is pretty useful."

"BNN only posts the first few sentences of your posts so that anyone wanting to read the whole thing has to click through -- thus giving you traffic that helps you sell ad space."

Only recently did BNN change it so when you click on the title or read more, it now goes to the actual authors Blog Site. Many of us have just noticed that change and we're greatful.

Is Anyone Taking Robert Banks Seriously?

When a MAN wears a pair of pants like this you have to say to yourself, self, can I take this man seriously? I'm curious, has anyone actually considered this guy?

WMDT Reporter & Cameraman Shot At In Cambridge?

Last week a Reporter and Cameraman were doing a story in Cambridge. They were knocking door to door to interview someone about a burn victim.

While they were going to neighbors houses they had noticed one neighbor with binoculars looking out the front window. It was raining so they went back to their vehicle when all of a sudden they heard a bang and the rear window of their vehicle shattered.

The Police were called in but they didn't find any evidence or remains of a bullet anywhere inside the vehicle. Police are still investigating what happened. No one was injured.

Traffic, In Salisbury?

The Daily Times wants readers to believe that the traffic situation here on the Eastern Shore is ridiculous. I beg to differ. This photo was taken around 4:30 PM last Saturday on the Washington Beltway. As we moved on into the "S" Curves things came to a complete stop in most lanes. Was their an accident? NOPE!

What I found really cool was the fact that they now have 10 LANES on Rt. 50 from Davidsonville all the way into Washington, D.C. and the speed limit is 65 mph. Now THAT'S thinking!

However, when you get here to the Eastern Shore, come one now, who's kidding who, there's no real traffic. That is, unless you're talking about Rt. 13 from Delmar through Salisbury. However, you CAN'T fix that stupidity.

Is the Daily Times manufacturing news again?

Knights Of Columbus Police Officers Of The Year

The local Knights of Columbus reviewed several Officers in 2007 and awarded only 3. They were as follows.

1. Sgt. Jason Chance of the Wicomico County Sheriffs Office.

2. Corp. Jason King of the Salisbury Police Department

3. Officer Chris Shockley of the Fruitland Police Department.

It should be known that the Delmar Police Department and the Maryland State Police refused to participate by entering Officers from their Barracks. NOT that they would have been competition to these fine gentlemen, (just kidding).

Congratulations Gentlemen and as I speak for many here, we appreciate all that you do.

Are You Nuts?

This first piece of property is what Real Estate Agents would like to call, "UNIQUE." So what's so unique about it? Well, for starters it's very rare they get their hands on such a property and when they do, they actually hope to retire off that "One Hit Wonder." Do YOU think a 190 acre piece of land is worth anywhere near $19,000,000.00? Barrie Tilghman might. Heck, she'd park condos, a TIF, new Library and a new Fire Station on it and sell it to the Taxpayers as a great deal!

Jill Yost has always been known as a fair Agent, seriously. I chose this home because it's priced right. It's affordable, clean and if Jill priced it, I know she's done her homework and that's why she's been around so long. Are there skeletons in her closet? I can't tell you that.

I can tell you this. I purchased 32 acres of land in Willards and paid $150,000.00 for it. Somehow I just can't picture selling if for $10,000,000.00 but I'll consider the 1st Agent because she knows what she's doing and she'll probably flip that property really quick because it's such a great deal. NOT!

Come on now. Don't you realize that there are 2,000+ Agents looking at that Ad thinking, does she actually believe she knows what she's doing? My guess is they're all thinking, well, I knew someone would be stupid enough to take on that listing for that kind of money. I wonder who will be next after the listing expires?

More to come......

A Post Worth Reading

With all this bickering about who is more conservative and who isn’t. Don’t forget our history!

For those that don’t know about our conservative history…..here is a condensed version.

Humans originally existed as members of small bands of nomadic hunters/gatherers. They lived on deer in the mountains during the summer and would go to the coast and live on fish and lobster in the winter.

The two most important events in all of history were:

1. The invention of beer, and
2. The invention of the wheel. The wheel was invented to get man to the beer.

These were the foundations of modern civilization and together were the catalyst for the splitting of humanity into two distinct groups:

1. Liberals
2. Conservatives.

Once beer was discovered, it required grain and that was the beginning of agriculture. Neither the glass bottle nor the aluminum can was invented yet, so while our early humans were sitting around waiting for them to be invented, they just stayed close to the brewery. That’s how villages were formed.

Some men spent their days tracking and killing animals to BBQ at night while they were drinking beer. This was the beginning of what is known as the Conservative movement.

Other men who were weaker and less skilled at hunting learned to live off the conservatives by showing up for the nightly BBQ’s and doing the sewing, fetching, and hair dressing. This was the beginning of the Liberal movement.

Some of these liberal men eventually evolved into women. The rest became known as girlie-men.

Some noteworthy liberal achievements include the domestication of cats, the invention of group therapy, group hugs, and the concept of Democrat voting to decide how to divide the meat and beer that conservatives provided.

Over the years Conservatives came to be symbolized by the largest, most powerful land animal on earth, the elephant. Liberals are symbolized by the jackass.

Modern liberals like imported beer (with lime added), but most prefer white wine or imported bottled water. They eat raw fish but like their beef well done. Sushi, tofu, and French food are standard liberal fare. (Another interesting evolutionary side note: most of their women have higher testosterone levels than their men.) Most social workers, personal injury attorneys, journalists, dreamers in Hollywood and group therapists are liberals. Liberals invented the designated hitter rule because it wasn’t fair to make the pitcher also bat.

Conservatives drink domestic beer. They eat red meat and still provide for their women. Conservatives are big-game hunters, rodeo cowboys, lumberjacks, construction workers, firemen, medical doctors, police officers, corporate executives, athletes, Marines, and generally anyone who works productively. Conservatives who own companies hire other conservatives who want to work for a living.

Liberals produce little or nothing. They like to govern the producers and decide what to do with the production. Liberals believe Europeans are more enlightened than Americans. That is why most of the liberals remained in Europe when conservatives were coming to America. They crept in after the Wild West was tamed and created a business of trying to get more for nothing.

The end.

COMING SOON: A New Forum On Salisbury News

For quite some time I have been contemplating the idea of creating a small team to go out once a week and try out different Restaurants throughout the Salisbury area. I discussed it with some friends, (people I thought might be interested in being a part of the critics corner) and as expected, they loved the idea.

Well Folks, you know me, I don't hold back and like it or not, Joe Albero is going to hit the streets starting this week and will be coming to a Restaurant near you. Far too many of them SUCK around here and very few of them are fantastic. Now it's time to stir the pot and create a place where YOU can participate by sharing your own opinions about your experiences at each particular place.

Another Forum I'm working on is a Real Estate Review. For what it's worth, I've been buying and selling real estate for many years and I know a good deal when I see it and I know a con job when one comes along.

I am sick and tired of these BS Real Estate Agents who are absolutely CLUELESS that come along and list a piece of property for TWICE what it's worth. There's the other side of the coin as well. There are greedy Real Estate Agents who list properties for far less than what they're worth and if they don't get a bunch of people immediately bidding higher prices against one and other, that property owner gets screwed by his/her Agent.

I think it's high time someone challenge these people in an Industry never challenged before. The Daily Times won't touch them because they create a TON of income in advertising. I don't have that worry. If you thought the Fire Fighters were touchy, wait till you see the Real Estate Agents!!!!!

So 2008 is going to be really cool around here. We're not just a Blog, we're an adventure too. LOL

Christmas Lights In Mid January?

As I drove down Rt. 54 and through Downtown Delmar, the Christmas Lights were still illuminated and I couldn't help but think, I need to use one of my life lines and ask the audience, what do you think about this? Christmas was "20" days ago. Are you still in the spirit? Most Americans are dreading the thought of the Credit Card Bills pouring in and the start of an uphill battle to pay for all the things they really didn't NEED anyway.

Nevertheless, I'd enjoy your thoughts on Christmas Lights still glowing and the electric bills that go with them?

Today's Grapevine/Bill Duvall?

Wicomico County politics

It's great that Stevie Prettyman is sticking up for the people of Wicomico County. She's the only council member I know of who will speak her piece and try to hold Wicomico County Executive Rick Pollitt in check. All he wants to do is get rid of that cap so he can slap more money into the budget to give raises to his cronies. That's all he's done since he took office.

Congressional Candidate Andy Haris On Illegal Immigration

Friends,

Only 29 days are left until the election on February 12th.

One of the top issues facing our nation is illegal immigration. I wanted to take today's post to discuss it. My parents legally immigrated to this country to escape communism in Eastern Europe. My parents understood the horrors of communism. Growing up, they taught us to cherish the wonderful freedoms and blessings America had to offer. They truly understood the American Dream, and because of them, I am living it today. When my parents came into our great nation they followed all of the rules to come here. They had to sign a paper promising they would not accept free government benefits. That like so many other things has changed. Today, illegal immigrants cost taxpayers billions of dollars.

As a State Senator, I have been a leader in Maryland against giving illegal immigrants government benefits. I have co-sponsored legislation to ban illegal immigrants from receiving drivers licenses. I also successfully fought against giving illegal immigrants in-state tuition at our state colleges and universities by threatening to filibuster the legislation.

I will take my fight against illegal immigrants in Maryland to Congress. As your congressman, I will:
Vote to secure our borders
Oppose all forms of amnesty
Vote to hold businesses accountable
Vote to improve the system for immigrants to come to this nation in a legal way.

I hope you agree that our nation must end illegal immigration now. Illegal immigration not only costs taxpayers billions of dollars a year, but is also a threat to our national security.

I hope you will keep checking our website for updates. If you have a good sign location, want to help phone banking or knocking on doors, or just want to help the campaign, please contact our campaign through our website.

God Bless,

Andy
