HAS WAYNE GILCHREST GONE AWOL?

Congressman Gilchrest has closed his Salisbury office already, even though his term runs for another month. Here's the office facade and a close up of his message telling his constituents not to call him anymore.

Does this mean Wayne's Staff, (including Greg Bassett's Wife who works for Gilchrest's office) won't be at work either? I can see the next Bailout headlines now. American Government Officials Get Bailout Along With Auto Industry.

I'm going to go by Gilchrest's abandoned office and tape a copy of the 50+ business closure list t onto the front door. It makes for a good match with his abandoned office.

  2. This is obviously corruption in the U.S. Government and should not be ignored. It is painfully obvious that Gilchrest is a sore loser and he has no chance of getting elected again. I feel sorry for his employee's, but they are still on the payroll and they need to represent our district like they are sworn to do.

WAYNE GILCHREST YOU ARE NOTHING BUT A F#%KING LOSER!!!!

  3. They did give themselves that 3% raise Thursday I think it was. Can you believe that shit.

  4. Could these lease have been up and he chose not to renew since there was only a month left to his term?

All your readers ask is that you think and judge fairly.

  5. In today's real estate climate any landlord would have renewed the lease by the month for a short period of time. It's not like people are beating down the doors to rent office space. I suspect he's done with us.

  6. 9:58-

Do you suppose the landloed would have given a month's extra, if paid for? Look at all the vacant space in downtown Salisbury.

Gilchrest should forfeit his pay for the last month of his term.

  7. For the 4,739th time...Another abandoned downtown structure- Loosen up. Think Irish Pub...Fish and Chips...Boo-Koo pints....REAL dartboard. Fun, jobs, profit and some of us could settle our grievances over a pint and a game of cricket. We need another politician/lawyer office around here like we need a raging dose of the clap.

  8. Are they all still getting paid? If so they should be helping with transition.

  9. Shoot he doesn't care he's taken care of for the rest of his life. Pay and benefits.

  10. Every member who lost or retired in 2008 had to give their offices up a month early so the GSA could come in and take inventory....

Also all the DC offices of members who are leaving had to be vacated so folks could move and repairs could be made

  11. Thankfully, the nightmare of "Wayne's World" in the 1st Cong. District is about to end. I didn't support Harris, but give him kudos for this change.

E.J. Pipkin: I want to be a Maryland State Senator, no I want to be a U.S. Senator, no I want to be a U.S. Congressman! Wait... What the hell do I want to be?

  13. Albero, you stated that you received a letter from KratoLet me close with this. Thank You Andy for coming all the way to Salisbury to concede. That was first class and top shelf, unlike that piece of trash Gilchrest who never even conceded, period. Interesting how Frank Kratovil refused to come to Salisbury as well yesterday. Wait till all of you see the letter I received the other night from Frank Kratovil as well. More to come...........

SO WHERE IS IT?? OR DID YOU LIE?? YOU WON'T POST THIS, BECAUSE IT IS A LIE, ISN'T IT?

  14. In a few weeks, the gold leaf on the window will say "Congressman Frank Kratovil." Wayne may be gone but the office will stay in 'the family.'

  15. 12:40 had it correct. Albero, you are soooooooo dumb. And 9:05, you're even dumber. His employees are NOT on the payroll. Gilchrest is NOT getting paid anymore. Albero, you are just drolling waiting for Kratovil to be sworn in-so you can blast him down at every breath he takes. It will be more of a yawn than your site is now.

  16. Is that you again Andrew??

  17. See. This is the problem. We are smack in the middle of Kwanzaa/Christmas/Chanukkah/Festivus, but if I were to challenge your lame poser ass to a two-out-of three cricket match over several pints of Killians/Sam Adams, etc., you would sit back bitching like a discontented fishwife about how you had to drive all the way downtown to watch a simple football/hockey game. I bill myself as a tolerant person when it comes to religion/culture/ethnicity issues, but I have no patience for bitching, jealous fishwives/husbands who can't have fun on their own, but get their jollies crushing the buzz of others. Here is a lovely carrot for you; and one for the uppity horse you rode in on!!

  18. BTW..I am not Andrew; nor know who he is. In the spirit of the general "Joe Public's Airing of Grievances" though, I am disappointed with ALL of you to have another pointless bickering session here about who peed on whom's tree in the past, and not see the whole heart of your town has turned into a shameful, abandoned mold spore/fire hazard...shame on ALL of you in positions of public authority-I'll catch you during the "Feats of Strength." It is beyond sad how the "people who can make decisions" stink so badly in your local area.

  20. Gilchrest's term is over on January 3, Joe. He doesn't have another month to go. Congressional terms and Presidential terms aren't the same.

Since most Congressional offices close during the last two-weeks of the year to observe the holidays, Gilchrest is doing nothing wrong. I didn't vote for the guy but you can't bash him over this. The guy's job is over and he's doing nothing improper.

  21. When we had several large manufacturers announce closure, I wrote to Gilchrest and expressed my concern about the gradual exodus of key manufacturing jobs.

The guy did write me back and said that our Industrial Park in Wicomico was full and that things in-and-around Salisbury were booming.

That's when I made-up my mind to try and get rid of the scoundrel. . .as the exodus happened under his watch.

I hope Kratovil reads about this, cause if things don't change dramatically around here, he can be removed to.

  22. Mr. Gilchrest,

I have a matter for a federal agency. Recently 4 Wicomico County employees stole well in excess of $400,000 of equipment funded by taxpayers. Well thanks to the good ole boy system of justice here in our region they got slaps on the wrist. My local justice system is corrupt, and we needs the Feds to step in and stop it ASAP. So could you forward this matter to the local FBI office for investigation.

Oh wait, you already quit, oh crap!!!

  23. anonymous 6:08,

Kratovil lives on this Blog. He's obsessed and paranoid with anyone who might say anything about him. He's just a wuss when it comes to anyone who disagrees with him. From what I've seen these past 4 years, real men in politics right now aren't men at all. We need more Mike Lewis' out there.

  24. 12:40 & 1:38 are correct. It amazes me how unaware people are of how this country works, especially at the federal level. You can do more on a grass roots level than by writing a letter to your congressman or bitching about it on a blog. Gilchrest's job was one of representation, not job creation. It was also not his job to chase criminals around like the Dukes Boys in Hazzard County. Get off your butt, get involved.

Give the man a break, maybe he's trying to save the gov. some money.

Wayne: If you read this... Thanks for 17 years of honorable service.

  28. Kratovil Swearing-In Ceremony, Open House, and Reception

Frank Kratovil will be sworn in as a Member of the 111th Congress on January 6th. The swearing-in ceremony commences at 12 noon on the floor of the House of Representatives as part of an opening session that lasts about two hours and also includes the election of the Speaker of the House. The ceremony is closed to all but immediate family due to seating limitations.

We will be holding an open house in our new Washington, DC office that day so that all of Frank's friends and supporters can come and celebrate together as we watch the proceedings on C-SPAN. The open house in our new office (Suite 314 of the Cannon House Office Building) will begin at 11:00 a.m. and last until 3:00 p.m. after which Frank will be holding a reception for friends, family, and supporters from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. in Room H-137 of the U.S. Capitol.

Please RSVP to Sharon Addison if you plan to attend the open house or reception in Washington on January 6th. It is important that you RSVP because we will have additional information regarding Capitol security to share with all of our guests as the swearing-in day approaches. Thanks!
