Salisbury News Gets Invited To Washington DC On Election Night

"Do you have any interest in coming to DC to liveblog election night with a major national news organization and possibly some international ones as well?

"Here's the basic info:

From time to time the MBA is offered interesting opportunities for its members and today we have another.

NPR will convert its conference center into a filing center for international broadcasters. They've done that for the past few elections. This year they are setting aside 30 spots for bloggers. They will provide wifi, some projection screens for watching the results come in, and "lots of free food and drink". They will encourage NPR reporters to visit with the bloggers if they have some time available, and will probably take the bloggers up in small groups to visit the broadcast command center in Studio 4A, where all of their on-air activities will be taking place. It will be an all-night event - probably 6pm to 4am - and several digital news producers will probably be embedded in the room with them so bloggers can find out about NPR's election calls as we make them.

Once I have your cell number, I can pass that on to NPR with your blog url and email address and we'll see if we can get you in.

While slots are limited, (obviously) Salisbury News will not head to Washington and cover this event live. Instead, Salisbury News will cover the Local Elections instead. We were honored to be chosen and welcome such an opportunity in the future. I think everyone can tell just how involved we have been in the 1st Congressional District Race and feel it is important to follow that through to the end. We will update everyone soon and let you know how and when we will do so.

Thank You David for the offer.

  2. Congratulations Joe. I'll bet those other bloggers are pulling their hair out right now. The mayor must be pretty ticked off too. Thanks for all that you do here locally.

  4. No one can deny you now Joe. They may claim you're a nobody but when you get an invite like this one it truly vindicates who you are and what you've achieved.

  5. It was nice to get such an offer. We've been rate #1 in Maryland for most of the year but because so many thousands of people return here every day, (YOU) that is what has made Salisbury News such a success. Again, thanks for the support everyone.

Plan ahead folks....there is going to be some serious destruction whether Obama wins or loses.

Tuesday night will be a good night to sleep with heat!!!

  8. Joe, does this mean the chiefy now has to recognize you as MSM? Or will he and the mayor continue to run the city as they have...behind closed doors?

  9. You should have asked GA to go for you. He has top notch political commentary and you'd still get the recognition that you deserve.
