The Wicomico County Sheriff’s Office Reminds Everyone to Drive with Caution as the Holiday Season Begins
The Wicomico County Sheriff’s Office wants to remind everyone to Drive with Caution as the Holiday Season Begins. The heavily-traveled Thanksgiving weekend* is one of the most dangerous and deadliest times of the year on America’s roadways due to low seat belt use. Deputies will be making an extra effort to look for travelers that are not buckled.
The Holiday Season also can bring on Aggressive Driving as people shop and prepare for activities. The Sheriff’s Office in conjunction with Salisbury Police Department will be watching for Speeding, Tailgating, Running Red Lights, and Making frequent lane changes in heavily traveled shopping areas.
The Holidays are also the time for parties and drinking. The Sheriff’s Office and Salisbury Police will be patrolling all over Wicomico County and the City of Salisbury looking for Impaired Drivers. There will be Sobriety Checkpoints and Saturation Patrols throughout the Holiday Season.
In support of the enforcement efforts:
*A Public Service Announcement with Sheriff Lewis and Santa will be airing on Comcast Cable Channels reminding people to take a Cab or use a Designated Driver.
*Gordy Tiger Mart will be giving out Aggressive Driver Tip cards to remind drivers to be safe.
*State Highway and the Chamber of Commerce will be posting safety messages in heavily traveled roadways as well.
*Eastern Shore Distributing will be placing posters with a Designated Driver message in stores, bars and Restaurants that serve Budweiser products.
So please, Buckle Up, Slow Down and Be Alert so that you arrive to your destination safely, and Never Ever Drink and Drive.
*According to data from NHTSA
Releasing Authority: Lt Babe Wilson Date: November 21, 2008
The first place they should look is the SPD.
ReplyDeleteIf you live or shop in the City of Salisbury be safe this holiday season. Have eyss in the back of your head and consider everyone a possible criminal. It is the tenth most dangerous city for its population after all.
ReplyDeleteWear lots of body armour to keep warm and protect yourself from that element. Carry heat in the form of the .9,.25,.22,.38,.45 ounce size in case the cold hearted holiday robber confronts you with a special request. Help fill his stockings with lead or give him a full metal jacket to show you care. For many, christmas season is the season for taking and giving you the bag of switches. Lock your doors so Santas elfs dont grab your packages and transport them early to the North Pole. Install steal cable to your purse to prevent a rein deer's antlers from snagging onto it. They're in a hurry with your packages to the North Pole and didn't see you. Wink! Wink!
After you have made it through the traffic backups here in the Berry, its time to go home. No children. That fat jolly guy in the State Highway truck wasn't Santa. It was Bubba Comegys and he was fixing the traffic congestion problem. Gitter Done. If you have been good boys and girls you'll make it home alive and with most of your gifts. Dont let your guard down now. Beware those same elfs who were at the mall. They will often visit your home to arrange a pick up to the North Pole.
Ah, the Holiday Season. The seasons will soon change and with it will bring a new Mayor. These Holiday rituals will be a thing of the past. Mayor Ireton will bring with him a new Police Chief and safer streets. Sheriff Lewis has done his part and now its our turn. Happy Holidays everyone.
Just stay off your damn cell phones while you are driving (especially if you are also eating, smoking and/or reading)...please...pretty please..with Jessica Alba on top.
