On August 29 and 30, 2008 the members of the Salisbury Police Fugtive Warrant unit conducted an operation specifically targeting subjects that were wanted on outstanding arrest warrants. As a result of this operation, the following suspects were taken into custody:

ARRESTED #4: Michael Jack Elliott, 29 years of age Salisbury, Maryland

On August 28, 2008 at approximately 4:00 pm, Officers of the Salisbury Police Department were on routine patrol in the area of Baker Street when they detected the scent of suspected marijuana emanating from a residence. The officers made contact with the occupants of the residence, listed below, and found a quantity of suspected marijuana and two (2) C.D.S. smoking devices, one of which contained suspected crack/cocaine.

On August 29, 2008 at approximately 5:05 am, Officers of the Salisbury Police Department arrested the below listed suspect following the investigation of a domestic assault. The officers had earlier responded to a residence on Edgewater Drive, and had found that the below listed suspect had struck and choked a female during a domestic argument and had destroyed and taken property from the residence as he left.

On August 29, 2008 at approximately 10:14 am, Officers of the Salisbury Police were on routine patrol in the area of Roger Street and conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle operation by the below listed suspect for traffic violations. As a result of the stop, the officers were given consent to search the vehicle and located a quantity of suspected marijuana and marijuana paraphernalia.

On August 30, 2008 at approximately 3:50 am, Officers of the Salisbury Police received a call to respond to a residence on Liberty St. for the report of a domestic assault. Upon arrival it was found that during an argument, the below listed suspect # 2 had stabbed suspect # 1 twice in the left arm. An investigation revealed that Mills originally threatened Copes with the knife, however Copes was able to take the knife from Mills, then used it to stab Mills. Copes also sustained injuries during the assault:

On September 1, 2008 at approximately 11:07 am, Officers of the Salisbury Police Department received a call to respond to assist Emergency Medical Services with an unattended death beneath the Rt. 50 drawbridge. Upon arrival, the officers observed that a victim had died beneath the bridge, on the west bank of the river. It appeared as if the victim had been sleeping under the bridge. The Medical Examiner responded and was unable to advise of a cause of death. The body will be transported to the Maryland State Medical Examiner’s office on Tuesday, September 2, for an autopsy to determine the cause of death. The identity of the victim has not yet been confirmed.
The victim was a black male, approximately 60 years of age, 6’00” tall, and weighing 200 pounds.

On September 1, 2008 at approximately 10:03 pm, Officers of the Salisbury Police Department received a call to respond to the area of Smith Street for the report of a large fight. Upon arrival, the officers observed and were able to disperse the fight. As the officers dispersed the fight, a female subject was attempting to leave the area however was not allowed to leave due to the below listed suspect. The officers met with the suspect who became combative and refused to co-operate.
