OCEAN CITY POLICE CHIEF SWORN IN AS PRESIDENT OF MD CHIEFS OF POLICE

Ocean City Police Chief Bernadette A. DiPino was recently sworn in as the first female president in the 47-year history of the Maryland Chiefs of Police Association.

Chief DiPino has been a member of the MCPA since 2003. She held the office of 1st Vice President and was previously seated in several leadership roles throughout the past five years.

“I am tremendously honored to be president of the Maryland Chiefs of Police Association,” Chief DiPino commented. “Not only is it a great privilege for me professionally, but to serve as the first women president in the history of the MCPA is something that I take great pride in personally.”

Chief DiPino was installed as president during a ceremony that was held at The Clarion Hotel on September 10, 2008.

  4. If you lived in OC in '03, '04, or '05, you would not think she deserves this.

I left in '05, so it might be better now, but...

Back then, the OCPD's primary goal was revenue generation - not law enforcement. They always had enough cops to do seatbelt stings, and open-container (entrapment) stings, but she complained they didn't have enough officers to fight crime. Yeah right.

There were plenty of good officers there, but overall from the top down, that force was corrupt. When your primary purpose is to collect more money, not fight crime, you are corrupt.
