Fruitland News

Joe,

On October 6 Fruitland will hold its election for City Council. There are two candidates up for re-election: Raymond Carey and Gloria Ortiz. Both have filed their candidacy to another term. Three other candidates have also filed: Edwin Cowell, Fred Giles and Mark Miciotto.

On September 30, a Candidate forum will be held at 7:00 pm at Fruitland City Hall and residents are encouraged to come meet and learn about these candidates in person.

It is certain to be quite informative and entertaining. Many are anxious to ask Mark Miciotto about the campaign issues he is running on: how to keep the city’s code enforcement officer and police department at bay while he continues to run his private business ( a code violation) out of the very nice building that city employees built for him (while working of course) when he was on the council from 2002-2006, how he plans to “encourage” police officers (just one, of course) to help him out whenever he and his family members get into trouble or needs a "favor" and best of all, how he plans to fire Chief Phillips and replace him with a less desirable “partner in grime.”

In 2006, Miciotto had the same plans but was defeated miserably. He has learned nothing in the past two years and is again seeking a council seat for his own personal agenda. It is his hope that he and Gloria Ortiz (two peas in a pod) will be re-elected because then he will try to convince one more council member to oust Chief Phillips and continue his personal agenda. The result: one corrupt city.

Fruitland residents are smarter than that and regardless of his campaign promises (or maybe in consideration of them) Mark Miciotto should be sent packing AGAIN!

  1. As a Fruitland resident I will be at this meeting. I do have several questions for these candidates which I won't post here. There's no need to give Mr. Miciotto time to think of an answer. Ever since Mr. Miciotto lost his bid for re-election he has been absent from the city council meetings. If he is so interested on being on the council why not attend such meetings? As for your personal agenda for why you like being on the council it's not a secret. Anyone who happens to be in Eagles Mart in the morning knows what they've heard you discussing. Yesterday I read on this blog site that Mr. Ed Cowell will be helping with Salisbury's new Task Force. Will there be a conflict of interest or even meeting times? I have met him and listened to why he wants to be elected. He would be a fresh face for Fruitland. Ms. Ortiz I hope the rumors of you and Mr. Miciotto having the same agenda is incorrect. Mr. Giles I haven't met you at any of the city council meetings. I only know your name in association with your neighborhood. Mr. Carey as far as I know you've never missed a city council meeting. It is very apparent that you are interested in what happens in Fruitland. Good Luck to the citizens of Fruitland as you make your selections. Don't be bullied into voting a certain way. We've all watched how things have gone on in Salisbury. We don't want that to happen here.

  2. Several days ago, in the Salisbury Police report here there was an mention of Miciotto's son being arrested. Go to the comments and read the piece by Fruitlander.

  4. Ed Cowell is the President of his HOA and would be a wonderful asset to city politics. I don't know this Miciotto character but isn't he the one who drives around advertizing Miciotto Auto Repair on his truck? I thought he worked at Eagle Express Mart.

  5. I don't live in Fruitland or know any of the players but I'm guessing its a good idea to keep your son out of the newspapers and out of trouble if you are serious about an election.

  6. Totmom-sounds like the only thing he is serious about is breaking the law, having a dirty cop cover it up and stirring up trouble. I hope Chief Phillips's old friends take a certain interest in his dealings.

  7. It's interesting how Mark DoNuttin has nothing better to do than start posting the same ole lies he's always posted ever since his Margie lost her seat on the city council. Markie I picked up an absentee application myself. The way it was explained to me at city hall is due to all the questions after the last election there was a change made. I found it easy to understand and to abide by.

  8. We need fresh faces. I hope Fruitlanders vote to give Cowell and Giles a chance to serve on the council. Anyone in town with half a brain knows that Miciotto is a liar. If Ortiz teams with him and a certain cop of the old slob squad we had as a police dept. then she should expect to lose this election just as Pennewell did. Miciotto is a loser and we'd be better off if he was run out of town! Carey is too wishy-washy, only running around now talking to people because it's election time. That leaves Cowell and Giles. Regardless of what happens, they better leave our new police chief alone! We love him!
