Incident: Possession of Cocaine with the Intent to Distribute
Date of Incident: 24 July 2008
Location: 201 Baptist Street, Salisbury, MD
Suspect: Jamal P. Mitchell, 22, Salisbury, MD
On 24 July 2008 at Deputy responded to Parole and Probation inside the District Court Multi-Service Building in Salisbury, MD. While there, the deputy located Jamal Mitchell of Salisbury who was wanted on an outstanding Wicomico Circuit Court warrant for Violation of Probation in a CDS Possession with the Intent to Distribute Case. After the deputy handcuffed Mitchell, he dropped a pack of cigarettes in an attempt to keep the deputy from finding them. The deputy, however, did locate the pack of cigarettes and found it to contain eight individually wrapped baggies of cocaine. Once back at the Sheriff’s Office, additional cocaine was located on Mitchell’s person which brought the total number of individually wrapped baggies to eleven. Because of the findings and the way the cocaine was packaged, it appeared evident that Mitchell intended to distribute the drug.
Mitchell was transported to the Central Booking Unit at the Wicomico County Detention Center where he was processed and taken in front of a District Court Commissioner. After an initial appearance before a District Court Commissioner, he was held on $25,000.00 bond in the Detention Center. After a bond review before a District Court judge, his bond was raised to $50,000.00.
