Even The Downtown Salisbury Library Needs Some Upkeep

I was walking past the Library Downtown yesterday and noticed they are in desperate need of some upkeep on the walkway out front. That is, unless they want it falling apart in the hopes for a new building. However, I doubt that because Tom does great work down there and I'm sure this just got past him.

  1. The entire street is terrible. How come there have been no efforts to repair/repave Division Street from Rt. 50 to Carroll Street. It is one of the worst sections of road in Salisbury and nothing is ever done to it. Who wants to drive through that to get to the library?

  2. Have the Old Mall developers given up the $5000 they committed to the Library? Wasn't that part of the settlement? If they can't honor that how are the citizens expected to believe that anything will be built there.

While I agree this is no time to be building housing, but come on let's see that the Lake get's started to help with storm water runoff.

  3. Nothing is done because Barrie takes the money and spends it on water labels and a tent to put the water under in SOMERSET County.

  6. Sir:

This post is ridiculous in light of all the other problems -- such as Barrie Tilghman's waste of $2,000 of City funds for a tent at the Crisfield weenie roast last week that would have paid to fix this and much more. And take a look at the old "Movies 6" on Main Street if you want an eyeful.

  7. It's time for the main library to relocate to a more convenient location -- the current building could be a branch and/or storage and office space, or it could become that separate "city hall" that Barrie and Bubba want since they apparently don't think the old fire station is suitable.

  8. Are you kidding me, A MORE CONVENIENT LOCATION?

You suck ups are just unbelievable. This is a FREE Library! Perhaps you should relocate the Zoo so it too is more CONVENIENT to get to! How about the Civic Center?

I'd bet you a million dollars to ONE that if McDonalds gave out FREE Hamburgers every freakin day, you wouldn't find the drive to get there INCONVENIENT!

  9. When I was at the library a few weeks ago, I noticed that a large portion of the orange tile mosaic (near the door) had fallen off and was laying on the ground. The whole building could probably use some repairs/upgrades.

  10. It's a great library, BUT unfortunately, sometimes it is inhabited by mostly "homeless" people and I'm not always at ease walking thru the group of people that hang out at the front entrance. Perhaps the town could put THEM to work repairing the mosaic walls and the brick sidewalk? ha ha, I know it's a stupid idea......

  11. Are they hokmeless, or less fortunate? Never forget where you came from! FREE not only means to the lkess fortunate, FREE is for you too. When you can't afford to go out and buy that book, aren't YOU one of the less fortunate too?

  12. The library is county property therefore the city doesn't have anything to say about it. Now the city could take a lesson from the county library. How long ago was it they installed solar panels on the roof? I'd love to know the energy savings to the county due to the forward thinking of Art Goetz and his board. The city can't be bothered with saving money all they know how to do is give it away to their developer buddies and other FOB's.

  13. The library has two branches for those who don't like the element downtown. One location is in the Mall near the Chuck E Cheese entrance, the other is in Pittsville, behind the school. Plus free parking in both locations.
