  1. Yep...know all about it. I gotta have CATO deliver 300 gals. tomorrow just to go down the river. I can't imagine how the city would just let that place go to hell like it has.

  2. Don't forget that the city decided to PAY EXTRA for the marina managers a while back. If I remember right, they just couldn't make enough profit under their previous agreement.

Look at it like this. We've had our boat there for 3 years. This is the second year we've had trouble getting fuel. Next nearest place is the Wicomico Yacht Club...if you can make it and they're open. The city dumped poop in the water and it got everywhere....seriously. The previous Dockmaster hit another slip holder with a shoe and Coastal Property Mgmt. let him keep his job as long as he took anger management classes. He used to ride up and down the docks on a 3 wheeled bike and a big floppy hat and he was only about 40 years old. I'm serious - you can't make stuff like this up. Now they have a Dockmaster who is fresh out of college and has little or no experience running a marina. He's a nice enough kid but very green. I think the marina has a lot of potential but it has to be operated and marketed properly. If the city had someone who could organize events there, it could draw a lot of people and money. It's a shame.

  4. I've worked in marinas from my teen years thru the early 40's. I USED to keep my boat at the city marina. It has always been run poorly. City employees just treat the marina job as a job with low pay and city employee attitude.
Coastal management cannot do any better because there is NO money there. Just look at the dock next to Brew River. Its falling apart and COATED in pidgeon poop. The marina management dosen't even take time to know your name. PLUS Salisbury sucks as a destination...
Crackhead neighborhood, Perdue chicken plant odors and afraid to walk anywhere. I'll stay in Oxford.

  6. I was told first that the tanks were being cleaned to make way for the new gasohol. Then I was told that a pump had broken while servicing.

  7. Whatever is being added to gas now is not good for boats. It cost my father-inlaw almost $700 bucks to clean out his tanks, fuel lines, etc because of it.I heard that ethanol is the problem-but I know dick about marine mechanics lol

  8. A friend of mine actually called Yamaha, and they told him that ethonal is worse in four stroke engines. It makes them louder and run alot rougher. So this is another great idea by the city.

  9. Hmmm-Oxford or Salisbury marina??? Yep-I'll take Oxford---or just about anywhere else. Another fine example of this poorly managed all american city candidate.

  10. My understanding is that none of the fuel suppliers in the area will be supplying 100% gasoline anymore. Soon, everything you buy will have some percentage of ethanol. Has something to do with new federal mandates or tax incentives.

  11. My daughter in laws mother took her boat to Cambridge. Easier to ride up there than deal with the Port of Smallsbury. She won't take the risk of being mugged when she walks the parking lot either.
