More Sewage Spills

Editor:

(The following letter was addressed to Salisbury’s mayor.)

At what point will you get involved to stop these sewage spills? You are the captain of the ship named Salisbury and you have done a miserable job of holding people accountable for their careless actions. Someone should be fired –today. Maybe you.

I am sending your story to 60 Minutes and hope they do a story on how lousy a job you have done on controlling these spills that are killing our river. My next contact is Maryland Dept. of the Environment to insist on heavy fines for your city. Your legacy of the worst mayor in the nation is certainly well deserved.

Capt. Bruce Wootten

Joe:

I found this article in The Dispatch, thought you’d might like to post it.

  1. You would be about the 1000th person to contact the Maryland Department of the Environment about this issue. The fines only hurt us taxpayers, there are no penalties for gross negligence to any city administration employees.

I think we all wish you success, however that road gets old after while knowing only the taxpayers get punished. I'd love to see it on 60 minutes, Go For IT!

  2. The Mayor has destroyed so much of what Salisbury had to offer. Its like she wanted Salisbury to "go down hill" once she became Mayor - all her empty promises
    were just that!

  3. Yes, Salisbury is really Barrie's "Beacon on the Hill" isn't it?

  4. Who did you contact at 60 Minutes so everyone can e-mail them? Maybe we can get it on 60 Minutes.

  6. I was surprised by the organizations that have turned their backs on this problem, organizations that are supposed to be protecting water quality as part of their primary mission. I hear excuses like "I'm getting ready to retire and don't want to rock the boat." The inaction by advocacy groups that have been asked to help us time and time again should also be questioned. Yes, give the contact information for 60 minutes.

Don't forget to try all the investigative reporters in Baltimore they do a better job of covering Salisbury than WBOC or WMDT.

Try WBAL, WJZ, WMAR, FOX, etc.

Yes what happened to all of those groups like WET and Friends of the Wicomico that used to go to all the Planning and Zoning Commission Meetings and County Council meetings to protest new developments? I know what happened, they had personal agendas because they didn't want those developments in their back yards. THOSE WORTHLESS A$$WHOLES!!

  10. you have to get those responsible into federal court. a law suit must be filed, and the process started.

  11. Why stop at her pollution of the river? 60 Minutes ought to cover how she has sold our city out to developers and slumlords, paving the way for our high crime rate. Follow the money, 60 Minutes!

  12. Yes, where the hell is the great Mike Pretl and WET? Too busy building "partnerships" with the Chamber and SAPOA?

  13. Yes-that is the unfortunate problem here is the city taxpayors are gonna get the shaft again over this administrations total incompetence.
There has to be a way for somone who is sooooo inept has to have some personal responsibility. How can this be accomplished? Class action..civil suit...? I am no lawyer, but would like to hear any ideas since we are the ones who keep getting shafted and our pockets picked by many of the people in charge in Barrieland. I gotta say, they must love what they do or it must be damn lucrative to keep doing what they do every day in spite of all the unhappiness among the constituents, the city's reputation in the tank, and no one has any respect for the whole ensemble we see on PAC14 every 2 weeks! Except of course for Cohen and Campbell. I can not believe this can continue like this without so much as a slap on the wrist and a "could care less' attitude. What the hell is going on in this city (and county for that matter). Must be something in the water.

  15. Nalagirl we all know whats in the water, especially whats in the Wicomico. Its all the pure BS that our mayor and the city adminisitration (along with the three bobbleheads on the council) keep putting out! I sure hope this does get to 60 minutes and they pick up on the story. But we have to insure they don't talk to the wrong people about the problems. Time for full disclosure!

  16. No way 60 minutes is going to do anything to put a democrat in a bad light in "The age of Obama"
They won't want to give the dems any negative coverage what so ever

  19. I agree that something has to be done , but for some reason you can't get residents to unite and stand their ground. The mayor knows this and that is why she is not too concerned!!
