Donations Are Way Down

Last year Sam's Club had raised $30,250.00 in donations. This year, (so far) they have raised only $500.00. It's called a major Recession, if not a Depression Folks. It won't be long before you'll be opening your doors for neighbors and friends, certainly Family. Times are really tough and the foreclosure rate is through the roof.

I can recall less than 2 years ago Debbie Campbell single handily pleading to the Mayor and Council NOT to give back Developer Reimbursements because the City was not in a financial position it could afford to pay millions upon millions of dollars out. The Mayor felt that since they had the "borrowing power" to do so, they approved it and now the Citizens are in deeper financial strain than the City has ever been in the history of Salisbury.

The Zoo is asking for a total of $2,000,000.00 for a building that should cost less than $500,000.00 total. Don't let Alessi and this Council fool you Folks. What they want is the highest extreme of comfort at everyone else's expense, not theirs, (meaning the Zoo Commission, who is responsible for raising the $2,000,000.00 if necessary).

Public Works wants a new building for their mechanics and also for their main Office. They are bellyaching because the Fire Department got theirs, why can't they have the same? BITE ME, is what I'd tell them! Look, I certainly respect the men and women of Public Works but if we're going to get into this I want as nice as the other Department crap, they can go to hell. Now is NOT the time. Besides, they should take over the Shop just across the street from the new Fire Station that already has 5 Bays with 5 Lifts. It's perfect and I'll guarantee you it's cheap.

In the mean time, times are getting tougher and you must tell the Zoo now is not the time either. The Animal Services Building is NOT something necessary. It is something the AZA is forcing down the Zoo's throat and I say, screw the AZA. They do absolutely nothing for the Salisbury Zoo but cost the Zoo a ton of money.

Donations are down everywhere and unless the Zoo can handle raising their own money for these luxuries, stop the spending NOW!

  1. They need to cut that zoo budget to fund more police officers.

The police we have won't/can't do their job. What makes you think hiring more pimple faced kids with a GED and a bad haircut will get the job done?

  3. 11:12...you are a moron...then kids we have can't do their job because there is way to much crime and way too few cops!

Has anyone stopped to think, Salisbury has grown, rapidly grown. Therefore the population is going to rapidly grow. Salisbury's PD is probably the only place that hasn't grown! Also, times are tough. It has been proven, when the cost of living raises as rapidly as it has, crime is going to follow!

Stop blaming police everytime a crime happens, start petitioning for more police and better pay for them!
