It’s Give-Away Day In Salisbury, Again!

The City that misplaced millions of dollars last year and had to do a double-digit tax rate increase despite its auditor telling us that it’s in good financial health is about to pull another shenanigan on the public. This time the mayor wants to give away (not sell) the old headquarters fire station on South Division Street when it is vacated by the SFD.

That’s what the City Council could decide, by “consensus,” to do at the work session this afternoon, beginning at 4:30 PM in the Government Office Bldg. (Room 306).

If you can’t attend or call Council Members, then e-mail them all at sbycouncil@ci.salisbury.md.us

  1. And on the news last night Gordy pitched his latest desire for more taxpayer money to replace Station 2. I predict another $10 mil debt. Maybe they can use the money found in the audit. I wonder if that was the original purpose of that money.

  2. If memory serves me correctly Station 2 is owned by the vollies. This is a ploy to have the city gain possession and control of the vollies and all they've worked so hard to build. In a city owned building the mayor would have full control along with her 3 henchmen, over the volunteer firemen. She already controls their checkbook.

  3. I'd like to hear the thoughts of the fire fighters on this, particularly the vollies. Granted the building is old.

  4. But didn't the Mayor take all the volunteer assets, or something like that????

  5. I implore the city NOT to give that building away. (and not to sell it for a token, either). In fact, all business transactions not already in place should be put on hold until this budget fiasco is straightend out, safeguards are in place in fiscal matters, public confidence is restored.
Unfortunately I cannot attend tonite. I would love to be there. However, I have to work my second job to pay my taxes.

Your memory is not correct. Gordy, See and Tilgman took all of the volunteer firefighters power and assets during the hostile takeover after See became chief and appointed Gordy the Deputy Chief.

    Check out http://www.ci.salisbury.md.us/Portals/0/CityCodes/Title22007.pdf

Specifically 2.16 Fire Department which was written by Gordo and See and approved by the Scheme Team during the hostile takeover.
