Smith Declares, "Audit Will Be Late Next Year, With My Blessing!"

Okay, so Louweasel didn't say it quite like that, but that's the meaning of what she said. She said she expects the audit to be presented next year at the Dec. 8 council meeting. Hey, Louise, the ACTUAL deadline for the audit is Nov. 1!

She went into this puffed up script about herself and how she had been "diligently tracking" what was going on with the audit. The Mayor used the exact same words, and made sure everyone knew Big Bad Louise had properly spanked her for a late audit. Gimme a break. There were people snickering everywhere in that room.

Louise had started tracking the audit about three days before it was due. Any credit to Debbie Campbell or Terry Cohen for raising questions about it at the budget sessions in the spring? Nope. Any credit to them for asking specific questions about it through the summer? Nope.

She and the Mayor went on and on about their big meeting last Friday on how Louise told the Mayor how it is. Gimme another break! Just my opinion, but I think they were writing Louise's script. As Louise was reading her statement (can the woman ever just comment on things, or does she always have to have a script, I mean pre-written statement), I could see the Mayor doing what appeared to be reading along.

In case anyone doesn't get the pattern yet, Barrie Tilghman cooks up ways to give HER council members credit for things or projects when they've done next to nothing. Does anyone really think that Louweasel Smith lecturing the Mayor in her grandma schoolmarm way made ANY difference in getting the audit done (I mean not QUITE done)? The fact is, THE COUNCIL CAN'T TOUCH THE MAYOR -- because there are NO CONSEQUENCES for anyone for the audit being late!

The long and short of it, ladies and gentlemen, is YOUR audit, the TAXPAYER'S audit, is LATE AGAIN, and will be LATE YET AGAIN next year. One of the many lines this year is that the audit just isn't as important as people think. Another was that they meant it would be on time with January 1 as the deadline all along. But the best one was, "The audit is done." NOT! Do you tell Uncle Sam, "My taxes are done, I just haven't filled out the forms"??

Once again, Debbie Campbell and Terry Cohen made the important points, including trying to trouble-shoot the process, which the auditor, Herb Geary of Trice-Geary, and Finance Director Pam Oland didn't seem to like at all. And following in Louise's credit-grabbing shoes was Gary Comegys, who thought he'd try to grab credit for the solution search by asking Geary the same question a different way.

There was TONS to this meeting, folks! But it's going to take some time to pull even the highlights together. Hopefully, you'll find time to come to a meeting and see for yourselves? Hey, this is all my opinion, but it's your money!

  1. Joe,

I saw you chastise Bubba on tv last night--way to go! Comegys was way out of line with his personal attack on Cohen, not to mention that he was factually wrong. When Louise failed to stop the attack, and then stopped Terry from defending herself, she showed her true colors and the real meaning of her "civility" code. You did a nice job of controlling your temper, but firmly called them out for their bad behavior. I'm sure they will just dismiss your comments, but those of us watching appreciated you stepping forward!

  2. Joe:

    Good post!

How about putting up the rebroadcast schedule on PAC 14 (a post is better than another comment to this one).

  3. PAC 14 usually rebroadcasts it the following Wednesday morning, 10 a.m. and the following Monday, 6 p.m.

To check that this schedule remains the same, go to www.pac14.org. I think they update the schedule twice a week.

For those of us who caught it live, yeah, it's worth watching. The administration handed out rubber stamps to three of them, while the other two represented the people who elected them.

  4. It was clear: LouWeasle was reading a script Barrie prepared for her. LouWeasle does not have an independant, clear thought in her head. Folks, this is no way to run a City. LouWeasle is an antique little girl.

And tell me this--what the heck did Shanie spit out of her mouth and into her hand during her stupid comments? Add 'no eating, no spitting' into the Council Rules of Conduct, Pleeeeeeeeese. That was disgusting, Shanie--didn't you learn no manners.

  5. Oh puhleese, remember Shanie is the one that said don't flush when you pee? The audit is not important to Shanie because she doesn't read it anyway, nor does she understand it. Shanie understands chocolates.

Were any of you really surprised by any of the events at last nights side show? Audit not important. Audit will be on time next year (heard that before). Lynn Cathcart on zoning board. Terry sued the city. Bubba gets dumber by the minute. Debbie asks to many questions they don't understand. Herb Geary needs to get a backbone and stand up to these people. What has he got to lose? The city account and all the headaches and BS that comes with it? He'll save a fortune in stress relief by dumping that account.

  6. Dammit, if they are raising my taxes 14%, I want to know where every red cent is being spent. Hey, Louweasel, the due date is 11/1, not 12/1 or 12/8, or whatever date the Mare wants. Bubba, the audit is IMPORTANT to the taxpayers. Let me tell you 3 something, I have due dates where I work and where I go to school. I'm late with the due dates, there are consequences. Your consequence for campaigning on a platform of accountability should be for you to be VOTED OUT OF OFFICE. The consequence for the accounting dept not having their crap together is that they should NOT HAVE THAT JOB! Plain, simple, and bulletproof.

  7. Anyone thinking that the charade presented by Louise "The Louse" Smith and Barry "The Mare" Parsons was accurate, needs a reality check. If Ms. Smith had truly attempted to "take the Mayor to the woodshed", she would have had her bony ass handed to her in a nanosecond. It was pure theater, and nobody was buying it. The attempt to give Ms. Smith ANY credibility will have to wait for another day.

  8. Yes, the side show was surreal last night. And I agree that Geary should stand up to the Mayor and all of them. Hell, it is us taxpayers that are paying this guy to demand the audit on time. Maybe, we should fire this firm and hire a good bunch that can get it done on time. And I don't want to hear it was late because they are short staffed. If this woman Oland can't get the job done, why in hell did we hire her? Seems to me the old Finance Dept. at the City never was late with an audit or any kind of report. Barrie, just what was your reason for creating this new department, when the old Finance Dept. had things running smoothly? Was it that the Finance Director refused to play your games with our money?

  9. The city council meetings are a Circus and nothing but a joke! The way Debbie and Terry are treated is sickening, if I were them I'd just resign right on tv and let the other clowns have their lil "Barrie" party to themselves...let Bubba sit on his fat ass and drool and look stupid and act like he knows what he's talking about...lmao; Louise can tell us all how the mayors asshole smells as it would take a crane to pull her head out of there and "dumber than a rock" Shanie can come in late (like she did last night), sit there and eat whatever God-awful shit she pulled out of her mouth last night for all to see and take her "pig" nap when she's done gobblin up all the chocolates. I almost changed the channels last night but it's the best soap opera on tv...lol.

Wish I could go to one of these meetings but I'd lose my job cuz I'd have to say something to the Queen and her 3 stooges!

  10. The City always automatically files an extension each year with the state. The City has an Internal Services Director who prior to working for the City never worked for a local government and never had prepared a City financial report. The Asst. Director never worked for local government either. With the Mayor handpicking this group no wonder the audit is late. If Oland was such a great choice why can't she get the job done. She's been there for what..almost 2 years. The auditors can only work with what they get.

  11. I guess the audit isn't a big deal if you don't care about doing a good job in a timely manner. Sounds like very poor time management issues.

Ok....Bring in the clowns.....opps somebody beat then to it, we already have plenty of clowns.
