Hebron Fire Department In The News Again

I'm told there was a huge fire in Hebron this past weekend and allegedly their Fire Chief showed up in nothing more than a pair of shorts. No sox, no shoes, no shirt, just shorts. I also heard there was a softball tournament going on where CERTAIN people had been drinking quite a bit.

While all the fun was going on and things turned serious, I'm told SOMEONE started making judgment calls electing to call in additional help from Sharptown and Laurel rather than calling into local Station 16 only 6 miles away to help assist in the fire?????

Alcohol and fire don't mix. And guess what, I didn't need a Big Bear to tell me that either.

If YOU really want to get to know the Chief of the Hebron Fire Department, GO HERE and see what everyone is saying about his behavior and his ability to lead, while allegedly drinking at the same time? Be sure to go about 1/2 way down the page to see the comments on this particular fire. Then be sure to continue following the pages to read more by clicking on 17 on the bottom right corner of the page. The comments referencing this particular fire starts on the name Tick Spray about 1/2 way down the page provided.

  1. So... assuming, based on the comments at the other site, the Delmar Chief appears to be a functioning alcoholic, who is regularly drunk while on duty, or on call, who actually has the authority to pull him from duty if it's (I'm assuming) an all volunteer department?

  2. Sorry I mis-typed above. I meant Hebron, not Delmar.

  3. I would assume one would have to find the law against commanding a fire scene intoxicated... I do mean the actual statute...

Then, when he is in the command again. Call the police or Davis Ruark.

  4. Go Back! No one missed you!

  5. What was the outcome of the accident again? No charges I believe. I don't understand why you keep after Hebron FD. And I am not even a member of the FD.

  6. No charges does not mean no one was at fault. Was the drunk chief running the accident that the firefighter that was in the accident was responding to? Maybe he asked for people he didn't need. There seems to be a serious problem at Hebron. Someone needs to keep after them. If Joe's the only one that's willing to do it, so be it.

  7. The reason behind not calling Salisbury is because of the career guys!!!Hebron along with alot of other companies in the area will call somebody else before us even knowing we are closer but Salisbury has put them selves in that position but we are always welcome to ride if we want anywhere!!Now on the drinking part of what has been said on these blogs,I hope not,but its not the first time I have heard it about Hebrons chief!! So everyone knows there is a great group of guys over there so Don't go bashing that department because of a few bad apple's if its all true about the chief then its up to the vollies to do something too change it!!!

  8. As to his state of intoxication while in command I don't know. If he was intoxicated while working on the fire ground some action should be taken. But as of right now they are just rumors. I'm not going in on that because you more or less stated allegedly in reference to his drinking.

The only thing I want to comment on is questioning the call for extra apparatus. Truck 16 does not have a prepiped waterway. The master stream has to be manually assembled to be put in service. Truck 2 is the only aerial in the city that is prepiped. The call to Sharptown was for their aerial because Hebron's Tower 5 was out of service. Laurel was only brought in as a "standby" unit. They did not actively participate on the scene. Different apparatus are needed in different situations. Having elevated streams proves to be a priceless tool on 2 story buildings in a densely constructed area. The house burning is not our only priority. Radiant heat can ignite objects a substantial distance away. So protecting exposures is key. Not to mention it could be written in Hebron's S.O.P's to call the equipment as he did.
The rest of it I will leave alone. Just wanted to clarify that for you Joe.

  9. So you know it only take a little mount of time to set up and hookup a ladderpipe which 16 has in which if 16 where called and staged near the scene the line to the nozzel could have been set up!!

  10. Get a clue anonymous. Have you ever set up the masterstream on TK 16. Probably not since you believe it only takes moments. In an industrial setting with minimal exposures & the building is a loss, then yes take the twenty minutes to set up TK. 16. Now in a residential area with multiple exposures and a possiblity of saving the structure, you'd be an idiot to call for something not prepiped.

  11. It's long been known that Hebron's chief is a drunk. But he has alot of friends in the dept that cover for him-- and him for them. Now that someone out of the dept will actually go on record seeing him drink before a call, maybe something will be done.

  12. Actually yes I have put it up before for your info!!!Do you know the reason why the gun is mounted on the front of the truck??!!Well I will tell, you first you take the gun and hook it onto the ladder ,then you drag the the line to the gun then you raise the ladder to where you want it, then hopefully there is a line laying there close coming from the engine hook it up and there you have all with in a couple of minutes!!!

The only people that it would take 20 minutes to put it up are the one's that are too fat,out of shape or just don't know what the hell there are doing and you just proved it!!!!!

  14. Hebron Fire Department in the News Again...HUH? This website and the watchdesk are nothing more than a rumor mill so it's hardly news. This whole mess was conjured up by a bunch of crybabies from Salisbury who didn't get called out to play. The biggest baby of them all, Mr. Know it all Fightin 4th who rode the coattails of his daddy (how's that for good old boy network Albero) into the Department is the ring leader. Hey 4th, if you're not happy that things aren't going your way, head on back to Americas Roast Beef, Yes Sir. (That's Arby's for you morons)

    ReplyDelete
  15. ROTFLMAO...Arby's. Now that is some funny stuff right there. The dude used to make a mean Beef-n-Cheddar! He's not much at putting out fires but he does flash a mean 4th Batt gang sign.

  16. You don't just stick the gun on the end, lay out some hose and your done. What about your hose straps and your halyard. For those of you who don't know tk 16 isn't rated to hold a man at the tip while flowing water. So a halyard (rope) is used to raise or lower the stream of water from the ground or turntable. Oh and I almost forgot, you also have to utilize the siamese (a wye that takes two lines and making it one, not one turning into two), which takes a few more minutes. So stop talking out your ass, oh shit that's right your head doesn't know better. My fault.

Just so you know I personally only weigh 190lbs, standing around 5'10"
and would run circles around your anonymous ass. The crew with me the day we set in up in a drill was just as fit and more experienced than me. It took just shy of twenty minutes and that was busting ass, in the daylight, with perfect conditions.

    Anything else retard.

  17. Oh and I just realized something in your post that tells me you haven't hooked up the master stream. The nozzle isn't mounted on the front. It's mounted on the rear of the truck, officer's side. So let me tell you why it's mounted on the rear. So as your heading up to the stick you can grab it and carry it with you, thus eliminating having to carry it all the way around the piece.

    ReplyDelete
  18. No you are wrong it is mounted on the roof of the cab drivers side!!And I justed talk to a member thats been there before the truck was bought and he has used it more times than you on actual fires and he said 3 men can get it hooked up in less than three minutes!!!So you also know there is nowhere to put on the back becase of the tool boxes!!So it goes to show how much you know about Truck 16!!!

    ReplyDelete
  19. 5 minutes not three!!

  20. So reach around and pull your head out of your A$$!!Oh by the way I am a member there and have used it on one fire and also in training and the longest time it took for us was between3 and 7 minutes..So i don't know what CREW you trained with but they didn't know what they where doing!!And I didn't mean the front(like bumper)I meant the roof and the reason is because you walk down the stick pull it out of its harness hook it to the stick pull the line out of the back of the truck take it down the ladder hook it to the gun and WALLA!!!Us guys at 16 are getting a kick out of you!!LOLOL

  21. Just checkin you anonymous. The worst thing that joe had to do was open it up to anonymous posts. Cause there are quite a few on here who are representing themselves as "members". When you said front I thought you meant bumper, thats why I threw the curveball.

I won't believe it until i see it. From the cab to flowing water in 3-7 minutes. Just to clarify we were working in teams of two, simulating a "duty crew" response. Two guys hooking up the master stream and the pump operator securing a water source to the siamese.

  22. I see what you mean!!But it has been done,I only have done it once with truck 16 I am no expert on that truck but is not much different to the one I use to operate on.I see it used best operating with using and engine to pump the water to you so in turn the pump operator should be working on that for you when you pull up and when you get set up finish helping him or even taking over and sending him back to the pump panel!Hopefully soon whyen the new tower is here we willnot have to worry about that anymore!!

  23. I agree there 100%, Tk. 16 is past needing to be replaced. It's O.O.S. more than Tk. 2. Rumor has it they didn't put in for the bond in time and the new truck has to wait till next year at the earliest. They need to stop dragging thier feet before Tk. 16 gets someone hurt or worse....

Yeah it's hard to believe, not calling you a liar but I'd have to see it.

  24. Yepp that piece of junk loses its brakes all the time but hopefully nobody gets killed or hurt, OPPS a member got his ankle injuried not to long ago because of the ladder..I am not sure about what happen with the bond but I do know it is a working progress in some degree!I do know also they where waiting for the new fire house to be built so we could fit it in the building..So who knows!
