“They weren’t sentenced to death,” families fear for loved ones in prison with COVID-19 outbreak

The Coronavirus death toll is rising at a Virginia prison in Southampton putting relatives and inmates on edge.

Over the weekend, two more inmates died from COVID-19 at the Deerfield Correctional Center bringing the death toll there to 6.

Nearly 500 offenders of the 925 inmates have or have had the virus like Aerrie Sammon’s husband Richard Pontani. Pontani, who is doing time for a drug charge, also has CPOD.

“It’s not just my husband. There’s peoples fathers and brothers, uncles, sons, friends and they don’t deserve this,” said Sammon. “Everyone is packed in there.”

Sammon added there is no social distancing happening inside the prison.

“You can’t just stack them in there like cattle,” Sammon said.

Yes and the Right is trying to stop them.
      NOT!

The Left / Right paradigm is fading away so there is only communism remaining.

  4. Statistics show that many of these who have been released are repeat offenders. Duuuhhhh. Wake up America. the liberal left is stealing our democracy from us right under our noses.

  5. That's just a stupid argument. NOBODY was "sentenced" to die from Coronavirus. Unless the inmates are being injected with it, they are just at risk like the rest of us. They will have to give up their social life if they want to reduce their risk...just like the rest of us. Letting them out, that's just ridiculous!

  7. Northwest Woodsman: They must have lost their voting rights, otherwise Marxist democrats would insure their release while pandering for their votes.

  8. Crazy how Jesus preached forgiveness but most of you love the idea of once a criminal always a criminal. Remind me who was next to Jesus on the cross again? People can change, it just makes the system much more money if they don't.

  9. They should not have been law breaking hoodlums, they they could be out here getting the virus like the rest of us. Are we supposed to feel sorry for these thugs if they get the virus while locked up? They are using that as a get out of jail free card. No way!!
