Breonna Taylor's family to receive $12M settlement

The city of Louisville has reached a $12 million settlement with the family of Breonna Taylor, the 26-year-old Black woman who was shot and killed in her own home by plainclothes Louisville police officers in March.

Initial news of the deal came Tuesday morning, just over six months to the day that Taylor was killed. The New York Times and the Courier Journal first reported the specific amount of the settlement, which was already thought to be a multi-million deal.

The deal is the largest settlement that the city has paid in a police misconduct case, shattering the previous top figure of $8.5 million, according to the Courier Journal.

  5. Sorry she got caught in the crossfire. Dating a drug dealer is dangerous. This is a big pay day for her family. Look at where the money has gone in a year.

  13. 7:46PM, she was NOT part of any drug dealing, she was a paramedic. The boyfriend wasn't even a drug dealer, they had totally the wrong house!

  14. Not the Police Fault because the man SHOT at
them when they entered , so the Blame goes
to THAT man , NOT the Police !!

They should get NOTHING !! ALL they care
about is what $$$$$ they can get, NOT the
Right or Wrong !!! They accept No Blame !!

    Police Lives MATTER !!!

    1. Not the man s fault his 2nd amendment right afforded him the right to buck back and was not charged only because of NRA help, and they were not the intended target. Her Ex boyfriend fraudulently used her address. Anyone can use your address to receive mail and its a hassle to stop it.

  16. 8:55 rednecks are always going on about defending their own home, and trespassers get a bullet. No knock warrant and a man was defending his home. Rules change for him though because he's black right?

  17. So I ask the family, 12 million makes everything alright, right? Now go away. Your daughter's death makes the family rich. I'm sure you're already forgetting her, and thinking about how to spend your windfall (after the lawyers' take).

  18. Northwest Woodsman: Wow! These negros really hit the ghetto lottery. Jewelry stores and car dealers are already slobbering all over themselves and standing in line to relieve the recipients of as much cash as possible. Would be an interesting psychological study to follow the family and their behavior and expenditures over the next year or so? Let me add that she was an EMT-Basic and not a Paramedic. Few, of any of our lower IQ individuals can make it through a paramedic program. I was an EMT-B as part of our required skills on a mountain rescue team for 15 years, and acquiring and maintaining certification was not that difficult. I’d like to know more about where she received the training, and who she actually worked for. I smell a rat here but for the news blackout, we will never know. My guess is that she was involved in some manner.

  19. Don't blame us negros. Lol. Blame the 💩 poorly trained cops and investigators who squandered away tax payer money serving a poorly investigated and planned out warrant. Hope they live life to the fullest. Bye haters.

  20. @ 8:44 PM. Yes, she was part of drug dealing. She let her ex-boyfriend keep his drug dealing money at her place. They have a recording of him calling another woman and telling her Breonna had his money and now he does not know where it is because she died before she could tell him where she hid it. Her being a paramedic means nothing, she was still a criminal by working along with him. Dummy was not smart enough to know they record his phone calls. So much for you defending her.
