A Viewer Writes: The mob of SBY has succeeded

This is what we do now. Randy Day and John Canon and others attacked the democratic appointee to a point where he declined. Jake would be pleased I’m sure. We are just at risk as the rest of the country.

Hopefully this will inspire shore residents to rise up and defeat the mob.

  2. No way in Hell the council now votes for Anderton. If they do, it makes them look weak

  3. I don't think anyone on the County Council is worthy of the job.

  5. Put this down in the book. If you think that Carl Anderton is ever going to get the job, then you bunch are a,LOT dumber than you all look. Him and all the other dry bones who wants it are all a lackadaisical clump of whale sh*&^t
who are looking for a free ride. He couldn't make it in Annapolis and the rest couldn't make it here. Wicomico County would do well to advertise elsewhere for someone who is really qualified. If they don't, then put the kibosh on them in the next election. Time for the good ole' boys to die and their ways with them.

  6. The good old boys didn't get their way so they whined like a bunch of little bitches way to keep it classy wicomico.

    1. It wasn't the "good ole boys" dumbass. Look at the groups who opposed the vote and you'll see why he was exactly the right guy for the job.

    2. Just to clarify...them good ole boys are usually Republican.

  7. I think it was grossly inappropriate for Randy Day to speak. What a conflict of interest and it is beneath the history of the Perdue organization.

    1. Indeed. Randy is power hungry and living vicariously through his little Pinocchio of a son, Jake.

  8. I can't get past the fact that Joe Holloway was a candidate until someone did some research afterwards and discovered that the Council was not allowed to vote for one of their own members. That fact should have been already known to all the Council members. Seems like the cart got before the horse. Pretty embarrassing to critique the knowledge base of any one of the other candidates (like whether they were familiar with a certain document) when the sitting Council members did not even know their own rules themselves. An intelligent candidate can certainly familiarize themselves very quickly with a given document. Even attorneys have to frequently research written materials to become familiar with laws and precedents. But I find it very disturbing that the Council was not even familiar with their own rules before Joe Holloway submitted his name, and then had to back out. Just my observations. Sounds like there's a learning curve here for everybody. My best wishes for figuring out how to come to an appropriate resolution that is fair to everyone. Best wishes to Dr. Desmarais as he continues to deliver the finest cardiac care.

  9. We all KNOW that the plan was to put CarlieA in as a placeholder for L’il Jake in ‘22!

  11. I justed called my short list of friends. 10k plus to defeat Dodd and Cannon. Announce your run next time around. We'll find you. And there's more where that came from

  13. This is why we need both branches. So stop all the hype about reverting back. Fix the charter so it reflects county executive form of government. They never did that. Charter review and keep checks and balances.

  14. Bob Culver was a Republican. The Charter says that a vacancy of this sort must be filled by someone from the same party. Only a few applied, and their credentials varied widely.

If you've seen Anderton's video opus you know he's not an Oscar contender, and shouldn't be a County Executive contender either. Just how did he spend his time between getting his GED and getting elected in Delmar? It's a 20 year void.

It's time for the Council to put their big boy pants/panties on and do the right thing for the County. This is an interim appointment; the job is up for grabs in two years!

They are damned lucky that one of the candidates has both the best academic and professional qualifications of any candidate for the job ever, and decades of experience with the county in key positions directly related to the Executive's main duties.

If they do the right thing, in two years everybody and their brother can throw their hat in the ring, and the interim appointee can stand for election, or not. In the interim, there is the chance the actual needs of the county might be met!

Mr. McCain's apparent lack of support for the best qualified candidate is surprising and disappointing; his wife is a great teacher and his kids were superior students. He should be appreciative of achievers.

  15. Hey Cornbread ---- if Mike Dunn, Randy Day, John Cannon, Nate Sansom, Karri Todd, Josh Hastings, Bill McCain, Jake Day and Brian Carey are your friends, I would hate to see your enemies. You can give each of them a BIG thank you for you never ever being considered for the position of Wicomico County Executive. They displayed behavior not even a spoiled 2 year old would display. So, go ahead and thank your buddies.

  16. With Salisbury News Blog doing a great job helping slam a candidate! Want proof : "Wicomico County Council Votes In Rene Desmarais As The Next County Executive, Idiots!

The Wicomico County Council chose Dr. Rene Desmarais in a 4 to 3 vote to become the new Wicomico County Executive.

Here's a guy who has not committed to giving up his practice solely to become County Executive and yet they elected him instead of two other very qualified candidates.

Talk about some stupid country boys! Not one of the council members should be reelected down the road. I'm in as much AWE as all of you are. Just a bunch of Idiots, is all I can say!"

Here's more: "Then this Doctor steps up and refuses to give up his practice. Instead of disqualifying him, someone came out with an alleged affair and pressured him to walk away from the job. You know what, he too is a pansy ass and I for one am very glad to see him run away with his tail between his legs."

How can you call someone out for slamming when you did the exact same thing! Hypocrite or Bully is more like it! I own a blog so let me bitch and cry abut anything I don't like and slam people at the same time!

Grow up Joe! You did the exact same thing!

  18. The only good choice now would be Wayne King he has run businesses that make the job of County Executive small potatoes and doesn't run scared he would do the right things and turn the county around and crush what's left of Jake Day and make him look like cry baby Anderton. Best thing you have ever had on this blog Anderton crying like a baby shows just what they are made of. Elect Wayne and get rid of Jake, let him hide out forever maybe him and Anderton could ride off in the sunset together.

  19. Carl has really stepped in it. He knows he blew his opportunity with the reaction and whining from himself and city supporters. I'm a friend if his and he is not doing well at all with this rejection. He's been drinking a lot of bourbon and keeps saying hey a loser. I keep telling him he has a job and it will be alright but he's been hammered and not listening. Try to be nicer on here please. He's not used to people criticizing him in public and having a very hard time.

  20. Some things are more important than politics. No one should be defined by their former youth mistakes. You can do anything in this life if you set your mind to it! I have to give Mr. Anderton a lot of credit for bringing himself out of his own shadows and pushing himself forward to attempt to help his community. Public service is not an easy path. Disregarding the politics, mean-mouthed people have no right to try to diminish the importance of someone else. That could be you next time..ever hear of the Golden Rule? Try walking in somebody else's shoes before you decide to attack somebody else's worth. You can disagree on political actions, but no one has the right to "bully" somebody else. Grow up. Walk in the halls of our elementary schools, where there are signs everywhere teaching kids NOT to do what you so-called "adults" are doing. Congratulations, Mr. Anderton, I admire you for a successful life journey - jobs are temporary - never let them define you!

Wayne King could have applied for it, Why didn't he? He could have just as anybody else could have.

  22. If Anderton can't take a little criticism he sure can't handle the office if county Executive.

Your'e no friend and stop lying. and drinking a lot of bourbon? If you were truly a friend you would know that all of that is lies. You should feel ashamed of yourself for this. But you won't because you are not a friend and are just as bad as the rest of the jokers on here commenting that are really making themselves look less educated then we even thought. Carl Anderton will come out on top of all of this at the end of the day, if nothing else he will know of whom are his true friends. He has a family and true friends that do care about him and loves him for who he is. At the end of the day he is a winner one way or the other, if he gets the job or not. You should be ashamed a friend does not act in such a manner.

  24. The County Council got the vote right the first time, end of story. Rene Desmarais was a free thinker and not beholden to the good ole' boys. Also, it's beyond ridiculous to see groups that rely on handouts like The Greater Salisbury Committee and NAACP come out in opposition to his appointment. I bet all of the Commercial Real Estate Tycoons are breathing easier now as they still have a chance to get, their puppet, Carl Anderton appointed.
