Busch Gardens to begin phased reopening in August

WILLIAMSBURG, Va. (WSET) -- Busch Gardens Williamsburg plans to start a phased reopening next month.

SeaWorld Entertainment, the amusement park's parent company, released vague details of the plan in their 'Preliminary Second Quarter Results' Wednesday.

"The Company expects its Busch Gardens theme park in Virginia to commence a phased reopening in early August 2020," the update reads.

Last month, the amusement park's president said he was frustrated with the limitations of the phase 3 reopening guidelines because they weren't loose enough for them to open.

  3. 1110 - too expensive prior to COVID, can only imagine the park at half running capacity wouldn't be good now.

One the bright side, the Williamsburg park is a great place to walk. Great exercise and figuring not to crowded could be like being there in the early 1980's....

  4. It is by reservation only with only a 5 hour time slot with one hour between end of Morning reservation and beginning of evening reservation. So about a 7 hr round trip drive for a 5 hour experience that doesn’t involve a fully opened park. Many attractions and food will be unavailable. And it is currently only operating 6 days in August. They are absolutely operating at a loss and I wonder if our favorite mini vacay spot is going to shut down for good. It makes me sad. But I made that reservation in case it’s the last time we get to go. They will probably be forced to cancel the whole event right before it happens anyway.

  5. Hilarious!

Who the heck is going to visit an Amusement Park during the transformation into a communist society? We have more important things to worry about besides entertainment, like obtaining food, water, ammo, clothing, shoes, ammo, alcohol, hand sanitizer, ammo, toilet paper. And did I mention: Ammo?

  8. Every business should be open. If you're too scared to go, stay the hell home with a big bite of your security blanket in your mouth. Don't tread on me !!!!
