Ocean City Restaurants Calls It Quits For The 2020 Season: Paul Revere Smorgasbord

It is with a very heavy heart and much disappointment to announce to all of our friends and customers that due to new Covid-19 guidelines, It has been decided that the buffet-style Restaurant "Paul Revere Smorgasbord" will not reopen for this 2020 season.

Restaurants in Maryland have yet to receive any inside or outside dining accommodations at this late date which has made it hard to make any business decisions.

Thank you to all for your wonderful words and for checking in over the past few months! we apologize for this late decision as we were working hard and being very hopeful to the last possible moment.

  2. Regardless of personal opinion/preference, when you see a LOCAL named establishment with bad news - it is truly sad.

Just hope Pauls, Jonah's don't become a Bunkman's history lesson.

Bonfire, Embers, Princess Royale, Clarion have "dinners" but how will they work out the prior mindsets coming to vacation.

Damn what a year this will be and we are only 6 months into it. Damn Damn Damn.

  3. I've noticed a considerable weight loss with OUR Rickie. A more than unusual flattened stomach....

So 949, I would've said he could do is alot of sh*tting but since this new weight loss could be contributed to less drinking/eating and STRESS, prob the best he can do is sit in a corner and suck his thumb!

    (snicker snicker)

    1. No, it’s 10 times more drinking, I know this for a fact. Funny part is he doesn’t have the bars comping him as usual.

  4. It is so sad! Please open everything before it is too late to repair this. We have quarantined for 2 months. Now its time to open.

  5. It's a damn shame as how in the hell do you think a restaurant can survive when only allowing only 25% of seating. They need to get back to normal or I am sure that 50% or more of the restaurants will not survive. The margins are slim at best and unlike a Secrets they operate hand to mouth. The Gov. really needs to have someone give him the facts as these establishments contribute one hell of a lot of tax dollars. Not counting all of the support firms like food, cleaning, repair and on and on. Hogan needs to be educated, but he is to dumb to understand. By the way I am not a restaurant owner but was in the business many years ago and believe me it is tough making it.

  6. This is in you Hogan. You better never show your face here. Hogan=Disgrace.

  7. Their business model of all you can eat self serve buffet will be a thing of the past and will not be allowed even when inside dining is resumed. Same with salad bars, self serve ice cream and more than likely self serve soda.

    1. I like that idea. Never did eat out of a trough that nasty hands have spooned and place the utensil in the food after use. People coughing and sneezing even if with a shield that doesn’t cover the food, not to mention coughing on the utensil while using and lay it on food. Never did buy into that program.

  8. You have to admit the democrats' plan to tank the economy is working. They will do anything to defeat Trump, including screwing us royally.

  9. Personally, I have always thought we should do away with all Buffets! They are a petri for all sorts of bacteria, they cause obesity which in turn effects our healthcare system, they hoard all categories of food which causes all the prices to sky rocket, the food that is wasted on plates and in the back of the house could feed tens of thousands of homeless and starving children. Overall the total negativity out weighs the positive ten fold. Eliminate all Buffets, AYCE places, and unlimited free soda refills, watch people get healthier and commodity food prices lower. Hell, you may even see reasonable Bushel prices again. LOL Maybe!

We should do away with buffet style restaurants.

      I don’t have one.
      Do you?
How can Me and You do away with other people’s business?

      I don’t get it

  11. Anyone that intentionally tries to harm our country and citizens needs to be stopped. And it is getting to this point - this is intentional.

  13. How quickly people forgot about Maryland’s worst governor: O’MALLEY and his budget busting spending and 40+ taxes and fee increases.

  15. 11:44 We as a nation should do away with them. You do not see those anywhere in most other countries, (with the exception of the all inclusive resorts). They just do more harm to people and the food economy then they do good is all.

  17. Buffets are history. People won't return to those, or if they do it will be when this mess is well forgotten.

  20. You dumb asses commenting on "food or restaurants that YOU don't like" have no clue of what the hell is happening.

Do you really think that the tiny little bit of taxes that you pay to support Wicomico County and/or Ocean City?

ALL of you exist as you do thanks to tourism.

You morons need to get that. Do you want your taxes to go up 1, 2 , 500%?

That is what it will take if OC $ goes away.

  21. Buffet = Coronavirus Distribution Center. The "other" CDC! ;))

  22. 5:57. Yep. They don’t even realize how stupid their statements are.

    ReplyDelete
  23. @5:57 - No, what will have to happen is that Ocean City and Worcester County will have to scale WAY back on their budgets and employees. Oh No! If not the remaining residents will leave too. Then what will be left? Condo owners from out of state. So what. Ocean City has become a cesspool made of concrete anyway.

Ocean City has already driven away most of the year round residents with the high taxes and by only listening to the business community 95 percent of the time. That whole town is corrupt and just barely disguised. The Police and Fire departments with their crazy high salaries are a big part of those high taxes too. Should NEVER have allowed them to unionize, but that's another story.

    ReplyDelete
  24. Oh yeah, so stupid.

The taxes here in Worcester and Wicomico counties are so much lower than Sussex County, Delaware because of tourism and restaurants.

    Oh, wait! They're not!

In fact, they are 4 to 5 times HIGHER for a property in Delaware that costs LESS THAN 1/3 of what it would cost for a similar property in Maryland. Oh, and with less commercialism and crime to boot!

  25. Nothing communist about it just stating fact nothing good comes from Buffets that’s all!

  26. The Bonfire still has a cigarette vending machine in the entrance.
