The evolution of panic hoarding started with 3M N95 masks, then hand sanitizers, non-perishable foods, guns and ammo, and now cash?
A video surfaced on Instagram on Saturday, showing a possible bank run in Baltimore City at the MECU Credit Union, located at 2337 E Northern Pkwy.
The area is considered low/middle class working families (predominantly African American community). The video shows a large line of cars on Saturday afternoon and a line at the ATM. People weren't cashing in their paychecks because many people were laid off, as we noted, more than 14 million people in the last several weeks have lost their jobs across the county, and what we could be looking at is the beginnings of a bank run.
"As soon as the National Guard rolled into Baltimore City – many folks asked themselves – is this a revisit of the Freddy Gray unrest back in 2015," said Teresa Davis, owner and operator of Teresa Davis Productions.

huh? they must have all been drug dealers because nobody else in baltimore has any money to put into a bank account. Baltimore is a mess.
ReplyDeleteI'm going to give some credit to the folks in that "low/moderate income" area for keeping their cool for so long.

Warm temperatures ahead next weekend and that magic $1200 check still about two weeks away, things are going to get real dicey, real quick in the "low/moderate income" areas of Baltimore.
Civil unrest is coming as sure as the sun will rise tomorrow.
Folks you ain't seen nothing yet. Let this drag on into summer, and all hell is going to break loose. We Americans are not accustomed to being held back by anything. Not even death.

ReplyDeleteMany lower income people and minorities conduct their daily activities in cash, as they don't qualify for checking accounts or credit cards. They need cash to go to the stores to shop for essentials. No surprise they are running to the ATMs.
