FPD K9 Unit

The Fruitland Police Department is proud to announce the arrival of K9 “Spence” and his commencement of patrol duty at FPD. Spence is partnered with Corporal Shellenberger and they worked their first shift together on April 6, 2020. Spence is trained in Narcotics Detection and Tracking. Like his namesake, OFC Spencer Wiersberg (EOW 1/12/2020), we expect Spence to have an immediate and lasting impact in the community he serves. The addition of K9 Spence to FPD will make it possible to have a K9 unit on duty daily to serve the citizens of Fruitland and Wicomico County. The addition of K9 Spence was made possible through grant funding provided by the state's Opioid Operational Command Center and a partnership with the Wicomico County Health Department
