WCSO CAT Press Release - San Domingo Home Invasion

Gaines, Flowers, Gibson and Brown

Incident: Home Invasion, Robbery, Kidnapping, Possession with intent to distribute narcotic
Date of Incident: February 25, 2020
Location: 25000 block of Elzey Brown Loop Mardela Springs, MD 21837
Suspects:

  • Travis Lamonte Gaines (30 years of age)
  • Amanda Lynn Flowers (28 years of age)
  • Craig Donnell Gibson (59 years of age)
  • WANTED: Jamaar Obrian Brown (36 years of age)
Narrative:

On February 25, 2020 a violent home invasion was reported to the Wicomico County Sheriff’s Office. The Wicomico County Sheriff’s Office Community Action Team (CAT) ultimately was assigned the case and was assisted by the Wicomico County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigation Division (CID). Through investigation it was determined that Travis Gaines, Amanda Flowers, and Jamaar Brown forced entry into a residence in the 2500 block of Elzey Brown Loop Mardela Springs, MD 21837 during the early morning hours. The suspects held an adult female, a 12-year-old juvenile, and an 8-year-old juvenile hostage inside the residence. The suspects used a shotgun and handgun to order the subjects around the residence while attempting to kidnap the adult female and 12-year-old juvenile. The victims were assaulted by the suspects and items were stolen. The victims were held hostage for approximately 50 minutes before the 12-year-old juvenile was able to escape and got a neighbor to call 911 for help. The suspects then fled the residence stealing currency and electronics. The suspects held firearms to the victim’s heads while yelling demands. At some point during the altercation Gaines and Brown held the shotgun to the adult female’s head and pulled the trigger several times in an attempt to kill the victim but the firearm malfunctioned. CAT was able to locate witnesses and evidence that led to 3 search and seizure warrants for residences and 3 arrest warrants for Gaines, Flowers, and Brown.

On February 27, 2020 CAT established surveillance on a residence in the 11000 block of San Domingo Road where CAT had an ongoing drug distribution investigation taking place prior to the home invasion investigation. Subjects were observed arriving at this residence and then the Wicomico County Sheriff’s Office Emergency Response Team (SERT) executed a search warrant at the residence. Gaines and Flowers were found hiding inside the residence. An amount of crack cocaine indicative of distribution, a digital scale, US currency, cell phones, and a rifle were located in the residence. Craig Gibson was located at the residence and was found to be the primary resident. Gibson was found to be prohibited from possessing firearms due to being a convicted felon. It was determined that Gibson frequently allowed drug dealers to utilize his residence as a drug house to manufacture and sell CDS. Gibson later admitted to allowing this to happen at his residence.
Through interviews and further investigation, it was determined that the shotgun that was used in the home invasion was likely located on the curtilage of the residence in the 11000 block of San Domingo Road. CAT was able to obtain another search and seizure warrant for the residence which was executed on February 28, 2020. Gibson was located on the property and was taken into custody for an arrest warrant that CAT had received for the events the night before. It was determined that Gibson assisted with the home invasion by providing the shotgun prior to the act being committed. It was determined that the shotgun was test fired at the residence located in the 11000 block of San Domingo Road and was found to be operational. CAT located a shotgun hidden in a shed on the back of the property during the search warrant execution.

CAT executed two additional search warrants in Mardela Springs, MD that were related to the home invasion. Gaines, Flowers, and Gibson are all held without bond at the Wicomico County Detention Center. Jamaar Brown is currently outstanding and has a warrant out for his arrest. The Capital Area Regional Fugitive Task Force (CARFTF) is actively looking for Brown. CAT and CARFTF are asking the public for help in locating Brown. Brown should be considered armed and dangerous.

  2. Doesn't anyone find it strange that nothing more has been said about the bank robbery at Hebron Savings Bank?No surveillance photo was released and no suspect named even though authorities clearly stated that they knew who the suspect was.If I missed something, like an arrest, please leave a comment.

  3. To 9:46, please contact the U S Postmaster to express your desire. This area is "called" Mardela because the addresses are Mardela. Sharptown has NO rural delivery, only in-town boxes. So the Mardela post office handles ALL mail delivery around Sharptown, San Domingo, Athol, etc. It's been like that for years, so get over it.

  5. Northwest Woodsman: Wow! Is it just me or are your eastern shore Scandinavians becoming more brazen and violent. I have been predicting incremental increases in criminal activity and violence by them for years, however, it appears that events are rapidly accelerating and it almost always results from the culture of one group. When considering demographics, I would guess that anything over 2% would be cause for concern. Here the percentage is 0.01! Absolutely no issues with Scandinavians or Amish up here.

  10. So true 1203 so true. Maybe if they drove around a little more instead of parking on 50 the criminals might be a bit more concerned. All the criminals need to do is check the Waze app..

  13. What you residences of the westside better wake up and start realizing is this is going on in your community and there is no consistant school deputy at your school protecting your children. Wonder what the response time is for a police officer coming from Salisbury to help your children if they are in immediate danger. Why you all are allowing your children to go unprotected I do not know. Our children deserve better. They can not protect themselves. Reach out to Board of Ed members and demand something be done. We will never stop these losers from doing bad things but we can protect our children from them.
