    It is a very complicated issue. The manufacturer is often held responsible for the legal compliance of the machine or for the warranty liability even though someone hack in and starts changing things that reduce durability or reduce protection. Ever hear of bullydog diesel truck software?

  4. planned obsolescence. Bought hacked software out of europe to work on my mercedes. Wait until the "internet of things" has your whole house wired up! you wont be able to turn on a light without approval!
