New York City has voted to ban cashless businesses because it is 'elitist' and 12 per cent of the city's residents don't have bank accounts.
The City Council passed a bill Thursday afternoon that will make cashless-only policies illegal across the city and hit businesses with hefty fines of $1,000 to $1,500 if they fail to accept cash payments from customers.
Lawmakers approved the legislation, first introduced by Council member Ritchie Torres in November 2018, by a 43-3 margin.

I support the push back for supporting cash but not for the reasons they do.

ReplyDeleteActually, they're right for once.
Agreed, not accepting cash seems to punish those who may not be able/want to get a credit card or may not want to use a debit card everywhere.
ReplyDeleteHeck, my wife pays the credit card bills. If I didn't pay my boat bills in cash she would really knew how much I spent. Like Tammy sings...D-I-V-O-R-C-E. lol
ReplyDeleteThe ONLY good thing by being a cashless business is that you don't have to worry about being robbed at the cash register.
ReplyDeleteCash = Freedom
ReplyDeleteThey just want your paper trail so that they know where your at and what your doing all the time

They did this in high crime area's in Philadelphia. The government outlawed it. As a result the stores closed and now the locals don't have a store to shop at.
ReplyDeleteSo its kind of the opposite of Salon Images CASH ONLY policy for tipping. Why CASH ONLY, so they don't have to report that income to the IRS. Is anyone paying attention, that's a serious amount of income that is TAX FREE!
ReplyDeleteEver see a Chinese food restaurant that actually rings up the sale?
ReplyDeleteNot carrying cash I can guilt free deny panhandlers and cash is filthy and you don't have to deal with change. Using and paying off credit cards monthly I get reward points and an itemized purchase history. When I do business in cash it goes right into my safe with my gold.
ReplyDelete11:59 is spot on.
ReplyDeleteSounds reasonable to me. Not for the same reason, but a good thing, none the less.
