Gun Control Folly In D.C.

Earlier this month, the Washington Post reported that the homicide rate in Washington, D.C., in 2019 was higher than it was in 2018. There were 166 people killed in 2019, compared to 160 in 2018. In fact, the 2019 D.C. homicide rate is the highest number since 2008.

But isn’t that impossible? After all, our nation’s capital has one of the strictest gun-control laws in the United States.

The Post points out, “D.C. Police Chief Peter Newsham has identified illegal firearms as a major factor fueling homicides.”

But how is that possible? Given that the city has such strict gun-control laws, how is it possible that people are still being killed by guns?

The answer is very simple. People who are willing to murder people don’t give a hoot about gun-control laws. Why should they? If they get caught, prosecuted, and convicted of murder, they are going to have to serve a very long jail term, maybe even life in prison. They know that. What difference does it make if a judge adds another 5 years for violating some gun-control law?

  2. Gun control laws are useless while there are still states you can buy them at a garage sale with no paperwork.

You can buy guns at garage sales in ALL states with no paperwork. Not legally, but the government will never stop private sales of guns, no matter how many laws they pass. There are 100 times more unregistered guns in this country than there are registered guns. Those guns will remain in the hands "of the people" forever, and the government will never get their hands on them no matter how many laws they pass. It's what scares the shit out of the career and corrupt politicians in our government. The biggest threat to their power is the 2nd amendment.

Civilians with legally owned unregistered guns won't be intimidated by the government trying to make them criminals for selling or passing them on to others without "paperwork." You are an anti-second amendment democrat that wants the government to have every gun registered, for one reason only. And it's not crime control. Every rational person knows gun control laws are only for the government to be able to pass that final gun control law that requires all the registered guns to be surrendered to the government. They are using the crimes committed by their constituents as an excuse to implement their grand plan of disarming the citizenry. It is a power grab of the greatest magnitude, and one of the greatest dangers to our democracy and our constitution.

  5. Hell most prosecutions are plea deals and the gun charge is the first to be tossed out.

  6. 11:26 is correct, remember when State Attorney Ruark was driving drunk in possession of a gun (a felony) that charge was dropped!

  7. Enjoy Federal Prison LewisJanuary 31, 2020 at 7:15 PM

I read recently where a police chief was put on leave for transportation of automatic weapons ( THE REAL MACHINE GUNS) , and subsequently found guilty .

Little Napoleon Sherrif Mikey Lewis boasts of having a slew of machine guns at his residence ( in a hidden wall secret compartment).

I would love to see Little Lewis in Leg Irons, Waist Chains and Handcuffs

Where is ATF when you need em to do a search on one of the most Corrupt Sherrifs on the East Coast ?
