A Viewer Writes.......Census Survey

Joe, has any of your readers been receiving in the mail this packet from a group called " American Community Survey" ? It has a total of 28 pages and 44 questions. It has gone way above what our Constitution has said about taking an accurate head count to what I consider offensive and some very highly personal questions. It appears to me that this survey is just what we were warned about was coming. What this survey is about is "Data Mining" and it is an Agenda 21 technique used to find out everything about you and how you live. Please have your readers comment on this and express their opinions.

A Concerned Writer.

  1. Look up the origins of the survey. You can bet it's a tool of an organization bent on taking control.

  3. Just go the US Census Bureau webpage to find information about the ACS. The American Community Survey is a legitimate survey conducted by the U.S. Census Bureau, which is part of the Department of Commerce. The current ACS survey questions were created by the current US administration. The survey is part of the decennial census, replacing the "long form" that previously was sent to a percentage of households once every 10 years. It regularly gathers information previously contained only in the long form of the decennial census, such as ancestry, educational attainment, income, language proficiency, migration, disability, employment, and housing characteristics, etc. If your address was selected for the American Community Survey, you are legally obligated to answer all the questions, as accurately as you can. The relevant laws are Title 18 U.S.C Section 3571 and Section 3559, which amends Title 13 U.S.C. Section 221.

  5. O.k. I found a copy of this.

It asks who lives in the home, citizenship status, information about the home (rent, own, taxes, etc) where you work and how you get there, if you car pool.

I didn't find anything particularly alarming. It was 44 questions, but only 12 pages? It was on their website as a downloadable pdf. I didn't see "offensive" or "highly personal" questions.

    Am I missing something here?

  7. The American Community Survey is run by the census bureau. Its like a census between censuses. Nobody is forcing you to answer the questions you're uncomfortable with.

  10. The census is more then just getting a head count for representation in Congress. It is also conducted to determine what States need more money for education, housing, health care etc.

    Quit spreading lies.
Fine me? Throw me in jail?
Not much you can do about it.
Last census I did not answer the questions either and guess what happened.

  17. The ACS is an annual survey to help maintain correlation and guestimates of the population. While the full Census is every 10 years. Oddly enough I believe that citizenship is an ACS question but is a contentious subject with regards to the Census.
