Harris Announces $1.1 Million Grant to Salisbury-Ocean City Regional Airport

WASHINGTON, DC: Rep. Andy Harris, M.D. (MD-01) announced the award of a $1.1 million federal grant to the Salisbury-Ocean City: Wicomico Regional Airport. The grant was awarded by the U.S. Department of Transportation and will fund rehabilitation of the apron, taxiway and lighting. The airport supports more than 1600 local jobs.

Rep. Andy Harris made the following statement:
“As a member of the Committee on Appropriations, I applaud the award of this grant to the Salisbury-Ocean City Regional Airport. This facility is a key economic engine on the Eastern Shore that supports local high-paying technical and skilled jobs, as well as local business revenue and purchases. The investment of these federal funds will directly help our local economy now and in the future.”

    1. Did you see the topic of this article? Additionally, get more acquainted with the facts before you promote boycotting an American gun manufacturer. Idiot

  2. Now that we have an airport manager with some brains (one who would spend $1200 to repair a snowplow instead of spending $80,000 for a new one because of sheer laziness) we can look forward to better bang for our buck.

  5. 1600 is fake news...they are including everyone on the airport property which includes fedex, MD state police as well as the other small companies.

  6. Probably counting all Piedmont employees, 99% of which are based elsewhere.

The airport is like the civic center. People complain they want flights to a different location, or more frequent departures. But then they complain about the price and go to Baltimore instead. Until the traffic numbers go up and stay up, this is what we get.

Same for the civic center, people complain we have no entertainment around here, but then when we get a halfway decent act, they complain about the $45 ticket price and say oh i can go to baltimore for $15 (ok, how much is gas, tolls, wear and tear on car and parking again?)

  7. If American Airlines would compete with Spirit Airlines the SBY airport traffic would expand big time. RT from BWI to DALLAS OR ORLANDO is less than $130.00 at times but is in excess of $300.00 from SBY.
