A viewer writes.......City Scoop

I am sending this anonymously because I value my job. I was made aware of something recently through speaking with my colleagues, and there is proof that Chief Duncan and Mayor Day are fudging the crime stat numbers. You can do a little digging if you'd like, but all information they present to the public and the "lowest crime in years" stuff is because they are only reporting the crimes the SPF themselves are responding to. They do not include county sheriff, state police or anything else they themselves don't respond to, even though these crimes are happening inside the city also.

  1. There is nothing honest about JAKE DAY and his tenure as mayor. Go to the city of Salisbury Facebook page and check out his newest Facebook page " Jake Day political candidate". This is his newest Facebook fiasco he's created while dressed in military attire

  2. Anyone with law enforcement connections (other than SPD) knows just how bad the crime is in Salisbury. Fewer and fewer people are fooled by Day and Company!

  3. Of course all the numbers are fudged. Jake Day has used the city to create a bogus success story as mayor of Salisbury to further pursue a political career. Watch what else he has up his sleeve with the rest of the garbage waterfront and how John Cannon comes out smelling like a fat rat with the garbage property he owns across the road

  4. Salisbury is a nice quiet city.No reason to be alarmed'

  7. That is how UCR works. Then each Agency reports what crime was reported in each Municipality. That's why UCR (MSP) calls the Sheriff's Office UCR clerk every year when school starts. Simple Assaults (04E in UCR world) go through the roof!

  8. Day's figures have been wrong the whole time he has been in office, and Duncan's crime stats are off, way off. Every time there is a murder in Salisbury I write it down on my calendar, I put the victims names down and where they were killed. At the end of the year and when Jake and Duncan want to quote figures you be amazed at the lies. Why would the Salisbury crime figures we used to get which gave the dates, addresses, & type of crime have been removed when they used to be available under the SPD web site, now they give maps with little flags no facts. Why did Day never want to continue the Mayors Roundtable Meetings Ireton had which got neighborhoods together every month with the mayor, SPD Chief, and Salisbury City Council members stop when Jake came in THEY WANT NO ACCOUNTABILITY ! We still have no info on the body found in the river when last years City Festval was going on, and also the one found floating just the other week and you know what you'll never get answers on this one either. Every citizen needs to make themselves aware of the truths weekly, the info is there we will hear it they just think your so dumb you can't add.

  9. Get off your ass and file a freedom of information and ask the question...do you count the crime other police agencies handle in the city. It is that simple. Also I know that they do not count the crimes where citizens go to the commissioner and obtain a warrant or summons for someone for a crime that is committed. File it against the crime analyst, won't lie.

  10. They are city police stats, compiled by the city, and taken from city police reports. They are not county police stats, nor state police stats. City stats compiled by city employees only. No "scoop" there. Nothing nefarious about it either. The city would be remiss to include stats that are not theirs. Its the only stats that the Mayor can speak for (or report). I mean, like duh, where's the "scoop?"

    1. Very misleading stats if it happens within the city limits it should be included regardless or make sure you let everyone know this doesn't include any other departments. They call it crime in Salisbury not just crime the city police takes care of duh there's your lie

  12. 10-15 million dollar waterfront redevelopment. Guess which one of DAYS buddies got this contract, Salisbury development corporation. Guess who owns the majority of the real estate that will be effected on Fitzwater towards route 50, John Cannon. You people are getting screwed royally and no one is having Day or Cannon investigated. When was this bidding process done and why is it there are only 3 contractors considered and awarded

  13. People, as mayor, I would demand transparency. How is a problem fixed when the information we receive are all based on lies and distortions? Jake Day has aspirations for higher office, so everything that happens in Salisbury is all honey, bees, flowers, on and on. Day is a political hack. If you want to stop his political progress, we need him to be cut off at the knees and lose this upcoming mayoral race. Then he will have to try to make a living in the mainstream economy.
Spread the word and vote for Wayne King.

    Thanks

  14. I have a FOIA request in for last years folk festival. Also, the Amphitheater. It has now been over a month and I still have not received it. It seems Chris at City Hall is having "trouble" getting the info together. I emailed him asking him where it is, and he hasn't responded, for over a week. Maybe he is on vacation. Who knows, who cares. By law this information is supposed to be released within 30 days. As a mayoral candidate, you would think they would want to get it to me ASAP. Because face it, I am not going to let this go, and they should know that. I am not going to come up with any conclusions of why I am not getting my FOIA requests.

I will let you guys do that.

    Regards,
    Wayne King

  15. The "scoop" is that this "employee" has proof that Day and Duncan are purposely fudging the numbers. PURPOSELY! In other words, he is saying the two of them discuss how to manipulate the numbers to make both of them look better. That's the scoop! Deception, lying.

    OK Jake.
Some bad math and obvious comprehension issues. You neglected to mention crime committed in the city that are handled by the sheriff and MSP.

By your comment / admission they are not counted because SPD did not handle them, which is the point of the article.

It is sorta like that lie where you said you did not raise taxes but the whole time were pushing to raise taxes on only 70% of the population. Or that fib where you said tenants don't use any more city services than owners and then said the reason you were hiking taxes on them was because they used more city services.

    Pathetic.

Wow, just how stupid are you? I am neither of the people you fantasize about me being. You are wrong for #1, #2, #3, & #4. You're not even close. So now we know who YOU hate. You have a hard time figuring out who would make a comment criticizing those that are anti-Salisbury about everything. Needless to say, I am not pro-Salisbury either. Heck, I don't even live in the same county.

  20. All I can say is you better give this gentleman Wayne king a serious shot. He sounds like he truly gets it and like most of us sees Jake Day for what he truly is. Like Mr King stated if you don't stop this trainwreck in the next election there's no point in bitching and moaning any more because you're past the point of no return with Day's agenda. His phase two is getting ready to transpie with the 15 million dollar giveaway to his buddies again. Next Salisbury WILL be an annual host to a LGBT festival your newly renovated downtown and amphitheatre. It's a never ending spiral down the shitter. Salisbury's wreckless development will inevitably end in major tax demands from the city to its citizens. Day's forcing the city to foot the bill on the waterfront development all the while his buddies are getting paid to develop it and getting paid to develop more section 8 housing to all those displaced by Bob Cannon's relinquishing his ghetto dwellings. Another backroom circle jerk

What's pathetic is you thinking that you know who 3:31 is. Really, you have no clue. How do I know that? Because I'm 3:31, and I'm not Jake Day. Quit pretending you're psychic, because THAT'S pathetic. You are responding to a ghost in your head. What do you have? JDDS? (Jake Day Derangement Syndrome)

  25. To the People,

In response to your Public Information Act request for cost information re: the National Folk Festival in Salisbury, please see the attached documents pertinent to this request:

    1. File: King_PIA_Request1 – Pages from the City budget for FY2020 which detail the NFF Local Manger contract position, including the City’s payscale. If you would like the exact number, I can get that for you – just let me know.

    2. File: King_PIA_Request2 – The City budgets a little over $80,000 for Business Development to assist the NCTA and the Local NFF Manager in the production of the event. This file details how that money was spent.

    3. File: King_PIA_Request3 – This file details material expenses to put on last year’s festival.

The non-profit Salisbury Arts & Entertainment District raises funds and carries insurance for the event, alongside the National Council for the Traditional Arts. I’m not privy to their financials, so you would want to reach out to them directly if you have any questions beyond the info I’ve provided. Here are a couple of links to steer you in the right direction:

Arts and Entertainment District website: https://www.salisburyartsdistrict.com/

The NCTA’s contact page on their website: http://ncta-usa.org/contact/

Link to our Finance Department’s Budget page on the City website: https://salisbury.md/departments/finance/budget-information

Link to the Finance Department’s Capital Improvement Plan page on the City website: https://salisbury.md/departments/finance/capital-improvement-plan

In reference to your second request, re: the Riverwalk Amphitheater, please see the attached documents pertinent to this request:

    1. File: King_PIA_Request4 – The ordinance by which the City enters into an agreement with the Maryland Department of General Services to accept $500,000 in grant money and define how those funds must be spent, as well as the grant proposal and related documentation from the State. This ordinance was passed on August 13th of last year, and can be found on the City website: https://salisbury.md/wp-content/uploads/2018/08/Res2858.pdf Page 22 of the document contains the following language from the State bill to appropriate the grant monies:

“Salisbury Revitalization. Provide a grant to the Mayor and City Council of the City of Salisbury for the planning, design, construction, repair, renovation, and capital equipping of infrastructure upgrades, including new Main Street streetscapes, water, sewer and stormwater system upgrades, and installation of broadband fiber optic cable in Salisbury (Wicomico County)”

Lines for the project exist in the FY19 and FY20 budgets, and the Capital Improvement Plans for FY19-23 and FY20-23. (See links above) Delmarva Veteran Builders was awarded the contract to design and construct the Amphitheater. Design and planning came in at $47,500.00, and construction costs to-date total $379,738.00.
