Pollaganda: Why Americans Don't Think They Got a Tax Cut

Just yesterday, we rebutted the continuing Leftmedia narrative about tax refunds. Yes, refunds may be a bit smaller so far in 2019, but that’s because the vast majority of taxpayers paid lower taxes throughout 2018.

But some propaganda is really tough to combat. An NBC News/Wall Street Journal poll revealed that just 17% of Americans think their taxes will go down as a result of the 2017 Republican tax cut. Some 28% don’t know, while 27% say their taxes will stay the same, and a mind-numbing 28% think their taxes will go up.

NBC News says nothing at all to correct the record for an obviously misinformed public. At least The Wall Street Journal does tell readers “the reality”: “For 2019, 48% of households are getting a tax cut greater than $500. … Just 5.5% of households face tax increases greater than $100” [emphasis added].

The Daily Signal adds, “As a result of tax reform, 9 out of 10 taxpayers got a tax cut.” In fact, “The average American household paid about $1,400 less in taxes as a result in 2018,” and even better, “Over the next 10 years, thanks to a larger economy, the typical American will benefit from over $26,000 more in take-home pay, or $44,697 for a family of four.”

  1. It's about 9:10 pm and I'm listening to my fire radio and Wicomico 911 dispatches Station 16 for an MVC with "injection" and entrapment at Rt. 50 and Marquis Avenue. First that was not Central's protocol, second, she doesn't know what the Hell she is doing. Assistant chief one gets on the scene with multiple vehicles involved, one in entrapped, and one in the ditch with CPR in progress.

The assistant chief called for Engine 1 to respond.

Now they are calling for a helicopter and a 4th and 5th ambulance from Hebron and Delmar.

Wicomico Central screwed up that dispatch and caused a delay in care.

Now they have Deputy Chief 16 on the scene with all 3 of Salisbury's fire departments and ambulances on that call. Not one person decided to backfill the stations for any additional calls. Dumb, Dumb, Dumb!

  2. My issues with the tax cuts are that the oil companies have increased prices much more that the original tax cut and the state and local governments have increased taxes as well. So, what tax cut? it now costs us more than any relief that was given

  3. I agree with 8:31
I didn't see any real difference in my paycheck last year and I paid much more in Maryland state taxes and my Federal refund was reduced.
