Auntie Maxine: It was 'correct thing' for Smollett charges to be dropped

Rep. Maxine Waters said she’s happy the charges against Jussie Smollett were dropped and hopes the “Empire” star can continue his career despite sparking national outrage for allegedly perpetrating a race hoax.

“It’s the correct thing that the charges were dropped,” Ms. Waters, a California Democrat, told “Extra” at the NAACP Image Awards.

“First of all, we probably will never know all of the details,” she said. “We’ve heard a lot of information. No one was hurt — that is, physically, killed, shot — he never committed a crime before, he forfeited the bail and it’s this kind of situation where they close the case all over the country every day.”

  1. When a cross is burned in someone's front yard, nobody is hurt either. But it is a hate crime. Nobody being hurt is not any indication of the criminality of his acts. Mad Max just can't keep her stupid mouth shut.

  3. Dropping 16 grand jury indictments is not the right thing to do unless you are a famous black person and you fear the rioting you refuse to control!!

  5. Maxine is the poorest excuse for a congresswoman (AOC running a close second). No one was hurt so it is okay to perpetrate a hate crime that turns out to be a hoax. Just goes to show how absolutely stupid these people are. Just like the idiot democrat who proclaimed we should be careful how many troops are on Guam since it may capsize. And these people want to run the country. God save us from the ignorant and brain cell deprived liberals.

  7. She's a poor excuse of a human being. Well, considering everything about her, I guess she is par for the course.

  10. If he was White the Democrats and the Black Caucus led by Maxine would be screaming and protesting with signs that read "HANG"EM HIGH". Blatant discrimination. Just ask Jesse Jackson and AL Sharpton the so-called Preachers of racism and tax evasion.

  13. she along with the other Rat Pack wouldn't want it closed if the racism they were seeing and hearing from Smollett, was from a white man, if that was the case he would have gotten 20 years. And there would be no job for him to return to.
