Study finds enough fecal matter on McDonald's touchscreens to put people in the hospital

Researchers tested touchscreens at eight different McDonald's locations and found fecal bacteria on every one of them, according to findings published in Metro.

The British paper tested six locations in London, and two in Birmingham and found enough bacterial matter to put people in the hospital.

Senior lecturer in microbiology at London Metropolitan University Dr Paul Matewele told Metro:
We were all surprised how much gut and fecal bacteria there was on the touchscreen machines. These cause the kind of infections that people pick up in hospitals. For instance Enterococcus faecalis is part of the flora of gastrointestinal tracts of healthy humans and other mammals. It is notorious in hospitals for causing hospital acquired infections.’

  1. Looks like I'm ordering from the guy at the counter every time from now on.

  2. We all should probably be wearing rubber gloves. Touch screens are everywhere the ATM the gas pump the Wawa deli. That or carry a pocket hand sanitizer. There's a lot filthy people and buggy stuff around.

  3. Not really shocking. It was London and a certain religious group uses their bare hands to wipe their behinds with. Doubtful they spend the time to really wash them good.

  4. They also tested the seats and desks in congress and found enough excrement to choke a Liberal.

  5. I don't think said " religious group " is eating at McDonald's unless your referring to Jews. I hear that have a kosher happy meal over there.

  7. If this were really true, there'd be more people in the hospital. Another scare tactic.

  11. I recently walked into a McDonalds and went to the counter to order. The girl behind the counter came out and directed me to the touch screen. I said do I have to do that, can't I just give you my order? She said yes you have to do that.
I said "I don't work here and so I'm not doing that" and I walked out!

  15. And people wonder why I am OCD about that shit and never ever touch things that other people touch unless it's with a paper towel. I wash my hands often and never touch doorknobs, etc. without a paper towel. And hell no I don't use my own sleeves. Idiots who use their sleeves are just introducing millions of bacteria on their clothes which eventually contact their own skin.

  16. All the more reason to stay the hell home and cook for yourself. Even " Nice " places are filthy and don't even get me started about movie theaters. Just for shits and dribbles get a tiny UV flash light and start with your own home then put it on your key chain and start having a look around out in the world. We must be very resilient creatures. Modern life is just filthy.
