Wake Forest Students Demand Dean Be Fired For Standing In Front Of Confederate Flag In 1982

It seems the college yearbook photo of Gov. Ralph Northam (D-VA) in blackface or a KKK robe may have sparked a new trend.

At Wake Forest University (WFU) in Winston-Salem, NC, a yearbook photo of Martha Allman, the school’s dean of admissions, surfaced showing her standing in front of a confederate flag hung on campus in 1982. Allman sent an apology to students, faculty, and staff after the photo was discovered via an email obtained by The Daily Wire.

“That flag was a symbol of pain and racism then just as it is now, and I understand that much differently in 2019 than I did in 1982,” Allman wrote.

“Thirty-seven years of life, experiences, relationships and education have made a difference in my way of understanding the world and my ability to empathize with those who are different from me,” she continued. “Throughout my career in admissions, one of my goals has been to create a more diverse and inclusive Wake Forest. It is my hope that I will be judged by my professional dedication to Wake Forest, my faith and civic involvement, and by my future work with the Wake Forest community.”

  2. Why in the he-- do people bend over backwards to apologize for something like this. Tell the students to gfthemselves and get over it. This is what is wrong with the whole country today.

  3. What is wrong with all these so called Americans these days??? The fact is not whether or not you stood for such beliefs and monuments 100 years ago or today, they are a part of our history. Good, bad, happy, sad, beautiful or ugly doesnt matter. It is part of who we all are and where we S Americans came from. We corrected the past wrongs and it may still pain some but we can not forget our past only for it to become reality again. This is as insane as suggesting we dismantle the Holocaust memorials because it saddens us and offends us. Well it should sadden us enough to never forget that such evil does exist in the world. This Great country is an experiment and yes sometimes along the way we made mistakes but at least we were not too proud to correct them. Love it or hate it this is the history our great country! We have a right to form our own opinions and to disagree civily and peacefully but it is still none the less who we are. God Bless America!

Not that long ago parents encouraged their children to get a college education, however, now a days most colleges have gone to hell. Any high school graduate with some common sense should be discouraged from the ruination of college

  7. Northwest Woodsman: When are these wimpy fools going to realize that activists interpret apologies as weakness and it only increases their appetite for more concessions. They will never be satisfied that this wimp (probably a Marxist democrat) apologized for posing near a confederate flag during a time when activists had not yet attached racial inference to it. Just stand up and tell them that no apologies are forthcoming and take the heat for displaying some sort of integrity. By the way, I proudly have a large confederate flag hanging in my workshop. I live among liberal Marxists however, no one discusses their political views which is good because if I became aware of their leftist leanings, I would no longer associate with them. During WWII, there was a group of commandos called “Jedburghs” who were parachuted into Nazi occupied areas of Europe with the purpose of disrupting the enemy activities and prepare teams of indigenous people to rise up against the Nazis. Many were caught, tortured and killed because security was poor and they did not know who to trust. I sometimes feel like a Jedburgh that has been parachuted behind enemy lines because I’m surrounded by liberal Marxist democrats that I’m sure I could not trust if things eventually go south!
