Live From Ocean City Maryland

It's 9:40 AM, the roads were covered with brine yesterday morning, schools have closed for the day throughout the Eastern Shore and now the weight of the snow on my trees could be jeopardizing the structural integrity of each branch. I have no milk, no chains for my tires and like so many thousands of you, I'm screwed.

I know, it's my fault. I should've listened to Dan Satterfield and all the different Board of Education branches when I heard last night Schools were closing. Call me stupid, I get it. Some of my business friends were frantic this morning calling in their employees because they too listened to the devastating forecasts and many businesses told their employees not to come in to work today.

Then there's those poor state employees being forced to sit in those big dump trucks with the motors running in WaWa and Royal farms parking lots all night long waiting for that big storm to slam us to no end.

Well, if worse comes to worst it's only a half mile walk to the closest store where I can get the supplies I need to survive the blizzard of 2019. I'll check on my elderly neighbors first, (might I recommend you do the same).

You people be safe out there and don't miss Dan's updated forecast at noon on WBOC. I'm telling you, this storm could be a real hum dinger. Does WalMart sell tin hats?

  2. I work for the state and at 6 am this morning there was nothing, but they called liberal leave anyway. Since I didn't want to use a personal day, I went into work anyway. I'm glad I did because this storm is a nothing burger!
They western shore is completely shutdown. Schools should have been is session today. There is no reason for government offices to be shut down. The private sector is working today.

  4. I'm ready with my 24 rolls of toilet paper. Like that's all you do in a snow storm is eat bread and eggs, drink milk and sit on the toilet.
I can't believe that schools are closed. And they want to start before Labor Day because they need more time to educate the kids.
    What a crock!

  6. Total waste of tax payer money. They need to use it up, so they don't have their budget decreased in 2020.

  7. As always, you're damned if you do and damned if you don't. If school had not been cancelled and we got the forecast they were calling for and a bus slid off the road and children were injured the Monday Morning Quarterbacks would be complaining about the schools being open!

    1. Just a month ago Dan called for a dusting and we got an ice storm. The kids had to be sent home early from school. This is all Dans fault.

  8. Another big hipe by Dan the weatherman. No reason for Wicomico Cty Schools to be closed roads are clear even sidewalks are clear. If he took into account the temperatures he even called for he would have known all of the above.

I went to Wicomico county schools during the Seventies and early eighties. We never closed schools for this! We had ice storms, but buses still ran.
There would be delays, but school still was in operation.

The problem is the nanny state we have now.

It's no wonder we are in the mess we are in!

I'll bet you are one of those BOE people!

Well you need to get off your collective asses and go to work like the rest of us out there who either go to work or get fired!

  10. Lived in Bel Air in the late 80's. Needed a foot of snow to close schools. A lot more hills and whatnot to navigate, too.

  11. LOL people should have listened to FoxNews and Janice Dean. She said over and over and showed graphics for days now that this was going to be practically nothing in our area. Too warm and any snow or ice was going to turn to rain which it has.

  13. Folks all of the weather outlets online were calling for us to get 1-3. They were wrong to. the warm air won the battle.

  14. Put yourselves in Dan's shoes. Imagine having to face the camera today KNOWING tens of thousands of locals have read this article and knowing people are laughing at you, or perhaps even pissed off at you because so many parents couldn't go to work today because their kids were off school and so forth.

To prove these people are actors and not true professionals, notice how they'll look right into these cameras with smiles on their faces acting like all is forgiven.

The same goes for the early morning actors who crack childish jokes four times in a row, every half hour and give us very fake laughs, oh aren't we so cute.

Yuk, Yuk, Yuk, welcome to the eastern shore.

  16. This again was a NON event.....roads are great nothing but a slight dusting unless you live in Northern Delaware, say up by CREEPY UNCLE JOE!!! They should require him to stay inside 24/7 365 to keep young girls safe!

  17. You want to see a liberal school board employee go bat sh!t crazy? Post on Social media how stupid it was for Dr. Hanlin to cancel school yesterday with absolutely no snowflakes in sight.

They go bat sh!t crazy because they want their free vacation snow day with pay. Damn Liberal Douche Bags!!

You should ask the BOE how much this snow day cost the taxpayers?

There is absolutely no reason for schools to be closed and no damn reason people should be expecting schools to be closed. Quit being a freaking candy a$$.

  21. I would like to know how much this cost Wicomico County taxpayers? Do you know all school employees get a free day off and they don't have to use their annual or vacation time? This is a bonus.

Here’s our first call for the upcoming storm. Snow likely starts between 5-10 AM Wednesday, eventually switching to sleet and rain by the afternoon and evening.

Winter Storm Watches have now been expanded to include northern Delmarva where the threat is the highest for a high impact winter event Wednesday.

    SNOWFALL UPDATE:

Here's our latest thinking on the wintry weather for this Wednesday. Snow arrives during the morning hours, eventually changing to rain, but a few inches of snow possible before the switch. Ice is also a bit of a concern across northern Delmarva. Stay tuned.

  26. He is telling everyone there is a big possibility of getting a lot of snow. How embarrassing these 2 Dan the Weathermen are.

There is a lot of moisture lifting north towards Delmarva. This will bring a period of snow Wednesday morning through lunchtime before changing to rain. We have lowered snowfall accumulations a bit for some areas due to warmer air moving in and the snow only lasting a few hours.

Salisbury is now right on the edge of 1-2 inches and a dusting to 1 inch. It depends on whether heavier snow bands can put down some heavy snow before the precip changes over.

    ReplyDelete
  27. On this post Meteorologist Dan posts a picture saying we will be getting 3 inches of snow.

  29. Look, this idiot from Channel 47 is blowing it off as "another snow tease" as if that is Ok. No, Dumb Daniel, your fake predictions cost Wicomico County taxpayers hundreds of thousands of dollars for our school employees and our daycare. Our plans are based on your stupid predictions that are always wrong. Pay Up!

Well, it was another snow tease for most of Delmarva, but far northern areas cashed in again with anywhere between 1-4 inches. Tune in at 5:30 during the #NewsHour for a complete recap of this system and a look ahead to some milder days in the 7-Day.

  30. Yeah, that Daniel Johnson from WMDT Channel 47 really screwed this forecast up. Time to hire some people with real experience.
