New litmus test? Dems demand elimination of ICE amid immigration furor

Democratic lawmakers and candidates are increasingly seeking the elimination of Immigration and Customs Enforcement as part of their suite of demands in D.C.'s heated border battle.

The calls reflect not only the deepening divide between the two partisan poles on immigration -- with one side seeking a border wall, and the other looking to dismantle the lead enforcement agency -- but the growing influence of the progressive wing.

More and more Democratic politicians have embraced such causes as 'Medicare for all' and a federal jobs guarantee. Now, they're getting behind the call to abolish ICE, with gusto.

Perhaps no 2018 moment better captured that growing influence than liberal primary challenger Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez's shocking victory Tuesday night over Rep. Joseph Crowley, D-N.Y., a member of party leadership.

Ocasio-Cortez ran on all three of those platforms, and even protested outside an ICE center in Texas.

Philadelphia releases felon despite detainer and criminal arrest warrant in place

PHILADELPHIA — U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) arrested a dangerous illegal alien after he was released by the city of Philadelphia, despite an active detainer, which included a criminal arrest order signed by a federal judge.

On Thursday, June 14, 2018, ICE officers obtained a criminal arrest warrant in the U.S. District Court, Eastern District of Pennsylvania for Guillermo Leon-Sandoval for violation of 8 USC 1326(a), re-entry of a removed alien. City authorities had previously said they would honor detainers that included a criminal arrest order signed by a judge, but did not in this case.

Guillermo Leon-Sandoval, 35, has been charged by Philadelphia police with unlawful restraint/serious bodily injury; simple assault; recklessly endangering another person; and false imprisonment. The incident giving rise to these charges involved the assault of his estranged wife. Leon-Sandoval was also previously convicted of illegal entry in September 2014.

“The local government’s goal of making Philadelphia a sanctuary city will not deter us from our mission of making communities safer nationwide and honoring immigration laws,” said Gregory Brawley, acting field office director for ICE Enforcement and Removal Operations (ERO) Philadelphia. “In this case, the individual has been charged with recent violent crimes. We will continue to pursue individuals such as this for arrest and removal.”

“I commend ICE for arresting this individual pursuant to a federal judicial arrest warrant,” said U.S. Attorney William M. McSwain. “The U.S. Attorney’s Office is committed to enforcing federal law, including, of course, our immigration laws. We will continue working with all law enforcement agencies to keep our community safe.”

ICE does not conduct sweeps, checkpoints, or raids that target aliens indiscriminately. ICE operations target public safety threats, such as convicted criminal aliens, gang members, and individuals who have violated our nation’s immigration laws, including those who re-entered the country after being removed and immigration fugitives ordered removed by federal immigration judges. Reports to the contrary create panic and put communities and law enforcement personnel in unnecessary danger. Any groups falsely reporting such activities are doing a disservice to those they claim to support.

Kamala Harris: Dem Colleagues Ready to Play ‘Hardball’

Wednesday on MSNBC’s “Hardball,” Sen. Kamala Harris (D-CA) said her colleagues in the Senate were ready to play “hardball” to delay President Donald Trump’s Supreme Court nominee’s confirmation to replace Supreme Court Justice Anthony Kennedy until after the 2018 midterms.

When asked what a Trump pick would look like, Harris said, “We are looking at a destruction of the Constitution of the United States based on all the folks he’s been appointing thus far for lifetime appointments. He’s been appointing ideologues. He’s been appointing people who have refused to agree Brown v Board of Education is settled law.he’s been appointing people not even qualified by bar associations. So this has got to be one—we all need to understand this to be one of the most serious fights we have yet to have had with this president. And we cannot relent.”

Pence to Central Americans: ‘If You Can’t Come Legally, Don’t Come at All’

Vice President Mike Pence traveled to Brazil on Tuesday with a warning message for Central Americans thinking of coming to the United States or sending their children with smugglers: “If you can’t come legally, don’t come at all.”

Pence was in Brazil meeting with President Michel Temer when he made remarks specifically addressed to Central Americans.

“To the people of Central America, I have a message for you, straight from my heart and straight from the heart of the American people,” Pence began, calling them neighbors with hopes that they will “prosper and thrive.”

“Don’t risk you lives or the lives of your children by trying to come to the United States on a road run by drug smugglers and human traffickers,” urged Pence.

“If you can’t come legally, don’t come at all,” he said firmly with a strong warning. “If someone tells you they can bring your child to America, don’t believe them. Hold on to your children.”

The Vice President urged Central Americans to “Build your lives in your homeland and be confident that your neighbors in the United States and across this new world are all working together to ensure a brighter future for all of the nations of this hemisphere.”

Leftist Anti-Trump, Soros-Funded Groups Join Open Borders Protests

The Women’s March – the same Soros-backed leftist protest group that marched to resist the duly elected President Donald Trump and pushed the anti-gun March for Our Lives – is jumping on the open borders movement in protests planned for Thursday and Saturday in Washington, D.C., and across the country.

The Women’s March Facebook page states:

We call on women from all communities to descend on our nation’s capital and demand the safety and freedom of immigrant families and children. We will put our bodies on the line to demand an end to this administration’s the zero-tolerance policy that automatically criminalizes undocumented immigrants and tears families apart, and to call on Congress to abolish ICE, an agency that is terrorizing our communities every day.

Unknown substance discoloring Baltimore's Inner Harbor

BALTIMORE — The Baltimore Department of Public Works has identified the source of what discolored Baltimore's Inner Harbor Thursday afternoon.

Around 4 p.m., Baltimore DPW tweeted that material discharging into the Inner Harbor is sediment from a downtown construction project. They said the project is not being done under DPW authority.

The Mayor's Office of Emergency Management tweeted, "We are aware of the discolored water at the Inner Harbor. We are monitoring the situation. The Baltimore Fire Department is investigating. We have no additional information at this time."

The Fire Department tweeted that crews are at the scene, and "preliminary test showed no hazard or threat to anyone walking the Pavilion."

Smug Rosenstein Refuses to Tell Rep. DeSantis Whether Anyone in Obama Admin Directed Halper to Approach Trump’s Camp

DAG Rod Rosenstein smugly laughed at Rep. Ron DeSantis Thursday after the GOP lawmaker asked him why he hasn’t recused himself from the Mueller probe in the face of obvious conflicts of interest.

Rosenstein also refused to tell DeSantis whether anyone in the Obama administration directed the informant, Stefan Halper, to approach the Trump campaign.

FBI Director Christopher Wray and DAG Rod Rosenstein are on Capitol Hill Thursday publicly testifying to House Republicans over the FBI and DOJ’s mishandling of Hillary’s email investigation and Spygate.

House Republicans will also be holding a vote Thursday on a resolution demanding the DOJ comply with requests to turn over classified Trump-Russia docs or face impeachment, contempt.

Rep. Harris Urges Baltimore County Executive to Comply with Federal Immigration Law

WASHINGTON, DC: On June 28, Congressman Andy Harris, M.D. (MD-01) sent a letter to Baltimore County Executive Don Mohler concerning the County Executive’s position on illegal immigration and border security. Congressman Harris sent this letter after County Executive Mohler wrote to the U. S. Department of Health and Human Services, expressing disdain for the Trump administration’s immigration policies. Congressman Harris made the following statement regarding the letter:

“The State of Maryland has the second highest frequency of MS-13 gang activity in the nation, second only to California. I am concerned that County Executive Mohler will not comply with federal immigration law, and instead follow the policies of his predecessor and establish Baltimore County as a sanctuary for criminal illegal immigrants. No one wants to see children separated from their parents, and the federal government is taking action to keep together families detained for illegally crossing the border. But the safety of Maryland’s citizens is my top priority, and compliance with federal immigration law keeps Marylanders safe. I urge County Executive Mohler to comply with federal immigration law.”

Trump Puts ICE Protesters and “Extremist Democrats” on Notice “The Only Response They Will Find From Our Govt is LAW AND ORDER!”

President Trump put ICE protesters and “extremist Democrats” on notice late Wednesday evening in a pair of tweets.

The left is completely unhinged; they want open borders, no law and order and to abolish ICE.

Protesters across the nation have put ICE buildings under siege, blocking and harassing officers coming and going to work.

Antifa anarchists posted pictures, names and locations of ICE officers online to encourage violent protesters to hunt down officials.

A senior DHS official residing in Washington D.C., recently found a decapitated, burnt animal carcass on his doorstep.

Less is more: The rise of over-treatment in the 21st Century

The country doctor of the early 20th Century had very few tools to address patients’ complaints. Armed with a few simple medications and some basic surgical techniques, they often had to rely on reassurance and bedside manner to ease suffering.

The situation has changed. Backed with an impressive array of medical advances, the tendency is for doctors to treat aggressively. Patients’ expectations have been stoked by glowing media accounts of impressive breakthroughs against an ever-expanding list of maladies. Direct-to-consumer advertising encourages the public to “ask your health professional” about this or that cutting-edge therapy.

Overtreatment has therefore become rife; only in recent years are we coming to re-evaluate highly-touted tests, medications and procedures.

In a recent survey of physicians, “Overtreatment in the U.S.”, doctors admitted that 20.6% of overall medical care was unnecessary, including 22.0% of prescription medications, 24.9% of tests, and 11.1% of procedures. The main reasons cited were fear of malpractice (84.7%); patient request or pressure (59.0%); and difficulty accessing patient records (38.2%) Most of the physicians surveyed (70.8%) believed that doctors are more likely to perform unnecessary procedures when they profit from them.

Another recent study concluded that “5.5% of hospital admissions, 14% of hysterectomies and 10–20% of antibiotics prescribed for upper respiratory tract infections are unnecessary and could be avoided.” (Source)

Lately, there have been some notable instances of overtreatment.

Cancer: Recent papers presented at the American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO) showed that aggressive treatment of certain cancers was unwarranted.

Nolte: Supreme Court Fight Will Increase Violence from Media-Sanctioned Mobs

With nothing less than the fate of the Supreme Court at stake, America’s far-left radicals and their enablers in the establishment media are about to turn bullying, intimidation, menacing, and outright violence up to 11.

As we have meticulously documented, Jeff Zucker’s CNN has spent the last five years inspiring, normalizing, encouraging, and outright calling for political violence.

Zucker and his CNN puppets (most especially Chris Cuomo and Jake Tapper) see mob justice as a legitimate political tool, a way to boost Democrat turnout, to blame their own chaos on Trump, and to terrorize their targets, including innocent police officers. And if this media-inspired violence can intimidate a few weak-kneed Republicans into voting against Trump’s upcoming Supreme Court pick, all the better.

Unfortunately for law-abiding Americans on the right and left, CNN is no longer alone. As we have witnessed during the past weeks, the rest of the establishment media have now joined CNN in its unholy crusade to justify and inspire left-wing hate mobs.

Good Riddance, Justice Kennedy

While it is true that Justice Anthony Kennedy was a disappointment to conservatives, the observation misses the point. Kennedy did not owe conservatives decisions that they liked. What all Americans deserved from him was the conscientious application of the law. That they did not get it is the true indictment of his time on the Supreme Court.

Again and again, Kennedy made rulings that aggrandized the power of the Court and of himself as its swing justice. No justice, right or left, was more willing to substitute his judgment for that of elected officials and voters. No justice was less willing to tie himself down to clear rules or a legal philosophy that would constrain him in future cases, let alone rules or a philosophy that bore a plausible relation to the Constitution. We moved toward a system of government no Founder intended, in which his whim determined policy on a vast range of issues.

House Passes Measure To Force DOJ Documents While Rosenstein Grilled In Heated Testimony

The House passed a resolution on Thursday demanding that the Department of Justice (DOJ) hand over a trove of sensitive documents related to the FBI's investigations into both Hillary Clinton's email probe and the Russia investigation.

The floor vote passed 226-183, representing a further escalation in an ongoing feud between Congressional investigators and the DOJ. The demand sets a July 6 deadline for outstanding materials, which Rep. Mark Meadows (R-NC) said on Wednesday that failure to comply could result in holding Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein in contempt, or even impeachment.

Moments before the resolution was passed, Rep. Jim Jordan (R-Ohio) and Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein traded barbs in a fiery exchange during Congressional testimony - with Jordan accusing Rosenstein of keeping information from Congress.

“I am not keeping any information from Congress,” Rostenstein insisted, before being cut off.

“In a few minutes, Mr. Rosenstein, I think the House of Representatives is gonna say something different,” Jordan fired back.

“I don’t agree with you … If they do, they will be mistaken,” replied Rosenstein.

Rosenstein Refuses To Discuss Whether Obama Spied On Trump Campaign

Facing a grilling during the House Committee on the Judiciary hearing this morning, Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein refused to say whether or not any member of the Obama administration tried to undermine President Donald Trump’s campaign leading up to the 2016 presidential election.

“What did the DOJ or FBI do in terms of collecting information, spying, or surveillance on the Trump campaign be it via Stefan Halper or anybody else working on behalf of the agencies?” GOP Rep. Ron DeSantis of Florida asked Rosenstein during a House Committee on the Judiciary hearing Thursday.

“As you know, congressman, I’m not permitted to discuss classified information in an open setting but I can assure you we are working with oversight committees and producing all relevant evidence to allow them to answer those questions,” Rosenstein answered.

Who's On Deck?—Analysis: Who's on Trump's list to replace Supreme Court Justice Anthony Kennedy?

Analysis: Who's on Trump's list to replace Supreme Court Justice Anthony Kennedy?

Justice Anthony Kennedy announced his retirement Wednesday, freeing up a spot on the nation's highest court for one of 25 people on the list from which President Donald Trump has said he will chose a successor.

That list was first floated during the nomination process for the successor to deceased Justice Antonin Scalia and put together by the Heritage Foundation and Federalist Society. Legal analysts from the left to the right have called the judges on it "distinguished," and "outstanding," a deep bench of originalist and textualist jurists generally in the mold of Trump's first appointee, Neil Gorsuch.

"The ones whom I know on the list are actually very impressive people," liberal constitutional scholar Akhil Amar told MSNBC Wednesday night. "I'm a Democrat, I voted for Hillary Clinton. But the list is a distinguished list."

The potential nominees come from all across the country, covering 17 states between them. There are five women and three people of color on the list, although two of the combined eight—Judges Amy Coney Barrett and Amul Thapar—are considered frontrunners. They graduated from a variety of law schools, notable given that every judge on the current court attended Harvard or Yale for their J.D.s.

The Number Of Dems Who Want Hillary To Run In 2020 Should Make All Trump Supporters Cheer

The 2020 presidential election is more than two years away, yet the jockeying for frontrunner status among Democrats is well underway.

Yahoo News released new polling from Harvard Thursday that indicated that former Vice President Joe Biden is the early frontrunner for the Democrat nomination to go against Trump. 32% of those polled preferred Biden in a head to head match-up with Trump.

However, the polling also found that a surprising 18% of Democrats would favor a rematch of 2016. Hillary Clinton edged her way into the runner-up slot. Clinton’s 2016 upset at the hands of Trump was perhaps the most stunning election loss in the modern era.

Trump’s Approval Rating with Hispanics Jumps 10 Points

In the heart of the media’s hoax-narrative about President Trump’s separation of illegal alien families at the border, Trump’s approval ratings with Hispanics jumped ten points, according to the latest Harvard CAPS/Harris poll.

The “hoax” in the establishment media’s narrative is, of course, the phony outrage over the phony pretense that Trump’s separation policies are any different from those of former President Obama. (They are not.) The media fabricated this narrative out of whole cloth as a way to blot out the fallout over the FBI’s devastating inspector general’s report and the congressional hearings that followed.

Nevertheless, this poll, which was taken immediately after Trump reversed his and Obama’s policy of family separation, shows a ten-point increase in support from Hispanic voters when compared to last month’s poll.

Trump’s overall approval rating is 47 percent, a two-point jump from last month.

Trump also improved his standing among Republicans by six points and Democrats by four points.

Over 600 Individuals Charged in Largest Ever Health Care Fraud Enforcement Action

Attorney General Jeff Sessions and Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) Secretary Alex Azar announced that 601 individuals are being charged in the largest ever health care fraud enforcement action.

The indictment includes 165 doctors, nurses, and other licensed medical professionals, who allegedly participated in fraud schemes amounting to more than $2 billion in false billings. One hundred and sixty-two of the defendants were charged "for their roles in prescribing and distributing opioids and other dangerous narcotics," according to a press release by the Department of Justice.

"Health care fraud is a betrayal of vulnerable patients, and often it is theft from the taxpayer," said Attorney General Jeff Sessions. He continued,

"In many cases, doctors, nurses, and pharmacists take advantage of people suffering from drug addiction in order to line their pockets. These are despicable crimes.… Today the Department of Justice is announcing the largest health care fraud enforcement action in American history. This is the most fraud, the most defendants, and the most doctors ever charged in a single operation—and we have evidence that our ongoing work has stopped or prevented billions of dollars’ worth of fraud.

What Kind Of America Does Maxine Waters Want?

At a recent “Keep Families Together” rally in Los Angeles, Democrat Congresswoman Maxine Waters said, “If you see anybody from [President Trump’s] Cabinet in a restaurant, in a department store, at a gasoline station — you get out and you create a crowd, and you push back on them!”

Later, she said, “The people are going to turn on them. They’re going to protest. They’re going to absolutely harass them…”

In the halls of Congress on Monday, investigative journalist Laura Loomer shrewdly asked Waters if conservatives should sit in the back of the bus and where they should eat. Waters refused to answer the questions, swatted Loomer away with some papers in her hand and then refused to allow Loomer to enter her elite, “members-only” congressional elevator.

I truly appreciated Loomer’s insightful questions.

Maxine Waters Paid $56,000 for Endorsement Mailers This Cycle

Daughter runs lucrative 'slate mailer' operation through her campaign, which has netted her more than $750,000

Rep. Maxine Waters's campaign has pulled in $56,000 this cycle through her "slate mailer" operation, filings show.

The mailers are sent out to more than 200,000 people in South Central Los Angeles and contain an "official sample ballot" and quotes from Waters on the candidates or measures she supports. In exchange for placement on the mailer, Waters's campaign committee receives a donation.

The payments to Citizens for Waters this cycle range from $2,000 to $12,000 and have come from a handful of California judicial candidates. Waters's campaign has collected the $56,000 from seven committees, filings show.

Citizens for Waters, Waters's campaign committee, runs the program. Karen, Maxine's daughter, has collected more than $750,000 in "professional fees" from the campaign since the practice first was given the green light by the Federal Election Commission (FEC).

Professor Claims "Civility" Is A Euphemism For "White Supremacy"

A New York University educator recently asserted that current "calls for civility are just a power play by those who feel that white supremacy is under threat."

Simran Jeet Singh, a Henry R. Luce Post-Doctoral Fellow for Religion in International Affairs at NYU’s Center for Religion and Media, made the claim Monday evening in two Twitter threads that appeared to be a response to widespread calls for civility after Maxine Waters publicly endorsed the mass harassment of members of the Trump administration this weekend.

Singh, who describes himself as an “anti-racist activist,” proposed in the first thread that “lecturing people of color about civility in this climate is an ultimate sign of privilege.”

“If you don’t know what it’s like to fight for your life every single day, then it might not be your place to tell us how to fight personal and systemic racism,” he asserts, later adding that “they mobilize and run these dehumanizing racist systems—and then they ask us to be more civil?”

“Civility is racially coded, too,” Singh explains in the second thread.

“Europeans described those they colonized as uncivilized people’s (barbaric, backwards, savages) in need of civilizing,” he claims. “This logic was central to the colonial enterprise.”

According to the academic, the entire concept of “civility” is rooted in white supremacy, because “part of the colonial legacy is the continued representation of people of color as being less civil,” adding that “this stereotype continues to permeate our social imaginations.”

High Court Ruling on Abortion Counseling Breathes New Life Into Challenging Bans on 'Conversion Therapy'

Banning licensed mental health therapists from trying to change a minor patient’s sexual orientation or gender identity violates a new U.S. Supreme Court decision in an unrelated case, opponents of the proposed ban said Wednesday.

The Massachusetts House of Representatives is expected to vote on and likely approve a ban on so-called “conversion therapy” today.

But opponents of the ban in Massachusetts are seizing on a portion of Justice Clarence Thomas’s majority opinion yesterday in a pregnancy-counseling case that challenges the reasoning two lower courts used last year to uphold bans on conversion therapy in other states.

“The efforts of therapists and their clients in those cases stalled as judges ruled that the ‘professional speech’ between mental health professionals and the families they serve was not protected by the First Amendment to our Constitution. However, yesterday morning the Supreme Court of the United States said that it is,” said Andrew Beckwith, president of the Massachusetts Family Institute, which advocates for Judaeo-Christian moral principles on Beacon Hill, in a written statement. “… We applaud that ruling, and we welcome the reassuring and common-sense explanation the Court gave for its decision. … The legislature must not be in the business of putting a gag on our counselors.”

Civil War

A few days ago, Jack Minzey, sent what was to be the final chapter in the long line of books and treatises which he had written.

Jack went to be with the Lord, on Sunday, 8 April 2018.

Professionally, Jack was head of the Department of Education at Eastern Michigan University as well as a prolific author of numerous books, most of which were on the topic of Education and the Government role therein. His interest in Conservative Politics was exceeded only by his intellectual ability.

This is the last of his works:

Civil War

How do civil wars happen?

Two or more sides disagree on who runs the country. And they can't settle the question through elections because they don't even agree that elections are how you decide who's in charge. That's the basic issue here. Who decides who runs the country? When you hate each other but accept the election results, you have a country. When you stop accepting election results, you have a countdown to a civil war.

The Mueller investigation is about removing President Trump from office and overturning the results of an election. We all know that. But it's not the first time they've done this. The first time a Republican president was elected this century, they said he didn't really win. The Supreme Court gave him the election. There's a pattern here.

What do sure odds of the Democrats rejecting the next Republican president really mean? It means they don't accept the results of any election that they don't win. It means they don't believe that transfers of power in this country are determined by elections.

That's a civil war.

There's no shooting. At least not unless you count the attempt to kill a bunch of Republicans at a charity baseball game practice. But the Democrats have rejected our system of government.

This isn't dissent. It's not disagreement. You can hate the other party. You can think they're the worst thing that ever happened to the country. But then you work harder to win the next election. When you consistently reject the results of elections that you don't win, what you want is a dictatorship.

Your very own dictatorship.

The only legitimate exercise of power in this country, according to Democrats, is its own. Whenever Republicans exercise power, it's inherently illegitimate. The Democrats lost Congress. They lost the White House. So what did they do? They began trying to run the country through Federal judges and bureaucrats. Every time that a Federal judge issues an order saying that the President of the United States can't scratch his own back without his say so, that's the civil war.

Our system of government is based on the constitution, but that's not the system that runs this country. The Democrat's system is that any part of government that it runs gets total and unlimited power over the country.

If the Democrats are in the White House, then the president can do anything. And I mean anything. He can have his own amnesty for illegal aliens. He can fine you for not having health insurance. His power is unlimited. He's a dictator.

But when Republicans get into the White House, suddenly the President can't do anything. He isn't even allowed to undo the illegal alien amnesty that his predecessor illegally invented. A Democrat in the White House has 'discretion' to completely decide every aspect of immigration policy. A Republican doesn't even have the 'discretion' to reverse him. That's how the game is played That's how our country is run. Sad but true, although the left hasn't yet won that particular fight.

When a Democrat is in the White House, states aren't even allowed to enforce immigration law. But when a Republican is in the White House, states can create their own immigration laws. Under Obama, a state wasn't allowed to go to the bathroom without asking permission. But under Trump, Jerry Brown can go around saying that California is an independent republic and sign treaties with other countries.

The Constitution has something to say about that.

Whether it's Federal or State, Executive, Legislative or Judiciary, the left moves power around to run the country. If it controls an institution, then that institution is suddenly the supreme power in the land. This is what I call a moving dictatorship.

Donald Trump has caused the Shadow Government to come out of hiding: Professional government is a guild. Like medieval guilds. You can't serve in if you're not a member. If you haven't been indoctrinated into its arcane rituals. If you aren't in the club. And Trump isn't in the club. He brought in a bunch of people who aren't in the club with him.

Now we're seeing what the pros do when amateurs try to walk in on them. They spy on them, they investigate them and they send them to jail. They use the tools of power to bring them down.

That's not a free country.

It's not a free country when FBI agents who support Hillary take out an 'insurance policy' against Trump winning the election. It's not a free country when Obama officials engage in massive unmasking of the opposition. It's not a free country when the media responds to the other guy winning by trying to ban the conservative media that supported him from social media. It's not a free country when all of the above collude together to overturn an election because the guy who wasn't supposed to win did.

Have no doubt, we're in a civil war between conservative volunteer government and a leftist Democrat professional government.

GOP Congressman: More Death Threats in 2017 Than Every Other Year Combined

Republican Arizona Rep. David Schweikert says he received more death threats in 2017 than every other year he’s been in office combined.

“My fear is this is the playbook of a lot of our brothers and sisters on the left—they’re going to get fringier and fringier, louder and louder, angrier and angrier, and as you and I know, we sometimes have some folks in our society who aren’t completely healthy,” Schweikert said while appearing on “Plaidcast,” a podcast hosted by Republican Rep. Sean Duffy of Wisconsin.

“And we had more death threats last year, in my office, even one towards my little girl, than we’ve ever had in all the other years combined and my fear is that this rage that is being generated for political turnout is actually really becoming unhealthy for our political society,” Schweikert continued.

The Arizona congressman has served in Congress since 2011.

“It’s incredibly troubling, because I’ve had threats against my family and my children as well—horrible things said,” Duffy agreed. “We know what happened to [House Majority Whip] Steve Scalise last year and our baseball team and with that, I don’t think the left recognizes that this isn’t the way the system was set up.”

“We’re supposed to debate, we’re supposed to argue, and we can be passionate, but then we go vote and we have elections and after we have winners we kind of step back and let them govern,” Duffy said.

The Democrats Go Full Venezuela

How many times do we have to learn that socialism doesn't work, that, as Margaret Thatcher said, at some point you run out of "other people's money," that sooner or later all the teary idealism, the stirring strains of The Internationale, devolve into gulags and death squads? Wasn't the Soviet Union enough, Communist China, Cambodia, North Korea, Cuba, etc....?

Now those death squads appear to have surfaced in Venezuela, the wealthiest country in Latin America before Hugo Chavez brought his brand of socialism to the then oil-rich nation.

Venezuelan security forces have carried out hundreds of arbitrary killings under the guise of fighting crime, the UN's human rights body says.

In a report, it cites "shocking" accounts of young men being killed during operations, often in poor districts, over the past three years.

The UN's human rights chief said no-one was being held to account, suggesting the rule of law was "virtually absent".

Caracas is now the world's most violent city. The people are starving and without medicine as inflation goes through the proverbial roof. The rich flee to Miami and the poor to Colombia. Venezuela is the shell of itself, a disaster area, currently close to the saddest story on Earth, given where it started.

Meanwhile, with exquisite timing, our Democratic Party has found the solution toits woes -- socialism! Er, excuse me, democratic socialism. We're going to do it differently.

The Left’s Reaction to Justice Kennedy’s Retirement Is Over-the-Top Unhinged

Legal scholars and the media had predicted for some time that Justice Anthony Kennedy might retire after this term. However, after Kennedy informed the Trump administration he was retiring, even the most keen observers likely didn’t realize how the progressive left would respond to that news. Liberal pundits, comedians, media and more have reacted with utter horror at the idea that Kennedy would dare to step down at such a time as this. From expressing feelings of rage and hopelessness to even wishing death and worrying about whether abortion might become illegal again, the left has outdone themselves with their unhinged responses. Here is a sampling of Twitter reactions:

I don’t know who this gentlemen is—he doesn’t appear to be a member of the media—but his tweet was so downtrodden and hopeless, it earned a spot.
Many liberals fear that with Kennedy gone, a Trump replacement will ensure that eventually Roe v. Wade will be overturned. Whether that’s likely remains to be seen, but that didn’t stop frantic conjecture.

Meet These 5 Stellar Conservatives Trump Just Added to His Supreme Court List

On Friday, President Donald Trump announced the addition of five individuals to his outstanding list of potential candidates for a future Supreme Court vacancy.

As was the case with the lists Trump put out during his presidential campaign, these new additions to the list are conservative men and women who are committed to interpreting the Constitution according to its original public meaning.

While there are currently no vacancies on the Supreme Court, rumors abound that Justice Anthony Kennedy may retire in the near future. Here’s a look at the new names.

Amy Barrett

udge, U.S. Court of Appeals for the 7th Circuit
Age: Approximately 45

Barrett, a former University of Notre Dame law professor, was recently confirmed to the 7th Circuit. After graduating from Rhodes College and Notre Dame Law School, Barrett clerked for Judge Laurence Silberman on the D.C. Circuit and Justice Antonin Scalia on the Supreme Court.

She then worked in private practice (where she was part of the team that represented George W. Bush in Bush v. Gore) before starting her career in academia, teaching briefly at George Washington University and the University of Virginia before joining the Notre Dame Law faculty in 2002.

Barrett is a prolific writer, having published in leading law reviews across the country on topics including originalism, federal court jurisdiction, and the supervisory power of the Supreme Court.

In 2010, Chief Justice John Roberts appointed her to the Advisory Committee for the Federal Rules of Appellate Procedure, where she served for six years.

At her confirmation hearing in September, Senate Democrats chided her for her writings as a law student in 1998 and asked inappropriate questions about her Catholic faith. But Barrett received robust bipartisan support from the legal community, including from Neal Katyal, a prominent liberal who served as President Barack Obama’s acting solicitor general.

Trump to ‘Extremist’ Democrats: ‘We Will Not Tolerate Attacks’ on ‘Courageous’ ICE Agents

President Trump called out “extremist Democrat politicians” during a rally in Fargo, North Dakota on Wednesday, blasting the recent attacks by open borders activists on Border Patrol and Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents.

In his speech to supporters, Trump called the recent doxing of ICE agents — where a database has been created to attack ICE agents at their home addresses — a “shameless attack” that has been perpetuated by Democrats’ recent call for ICE to be abolished.

As Breitbart News recently reported, New York University adjunct Sam Lavigne released the private personal information of about 1,600 ICE employees for 1,595 ICE employees last week.

Mr. Trump said this:

8 Highly Qualified Candidates to Serve on the Supreme Court

It now seems highly likely that the next president of the United States will have the opportunity to nominate someone to fill the vacancy on the U.S. Supreme Court created by the sudden passing of Justice Antonin Scalia. That may not be the only vacancy the president will have the opportunity to fill.

By the time the next president takes the oath of office on Jan. 20, 2017, Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg will be 83 years old, Justice Anthony Kennedy will be 80 years old, and Justice Stephen Breyer will be 78 years old. And while I wish them all continued good health, it is a fact that the average life expectancy in this country is 76.30 years for males and 81.30 years for females.

Assuming thatthe next president serves an eight-year term, he or she could end up appointing one-third or more of the federal district court and appeals court judges. That is also worth bearing in mind when one considers that only a small fraction of cases end up getting reviewed by the Supreme Court.

The Constitution provides that “[t]he judicial Power of the United States shall be vested in one supreme Court, and in such inferior Courts as the Congress may from time to time ordain and establish.” The Constitution further providesthat “[t]he Judges, both of the supreme and inferior Courts, shall hold their Offices during good Behaviour[.]”

7 Truths Liberals Will Never Acknowledge About Illegal Immigration

As Congress is gearing up to discuss a new amnesty, it’s striking how many falsehoods and bad assumptions made by liberals are driving the debate. Maybe it’s time to start talking about the truth.

1. Any sort of legalization or amnesty encourages more illegal aliens to come here

During the Reagan administration, we had a “one-time” amnesty that featured promises of security in return for three million illegals getting to become citizens. Today, most estimates seem to put the number of illegals in the United States somewhere between 11-12.5 million. In other words, seeing that we weren’t serious about enforcing our immigration laws led to more illegals than ever coming here in hopes of getting amnesty. If this amnesty goes through, we can expect to see the exact same problem repeated in a few decades.

2. A wall would make a major difference

A wall was never intended to be a fix for illegal immigration in and of itself. To the contrary, it’s a force multiplier. What we see everywhere that we have full fencing up is that illegals overwhelmingly avoid those areas. In other words, you can use a wall to direct illegals to certain areas and concentrate the border patrol in those areas. As we’ve seen in Israel and even around the White House and the Vatican, walls work. If you’re serious about stopping illegal immigration, you support a wall.

3. Illegal aliens hurt the poorest American workers

Because illegal aliens don’t need health insurance and car insurance and they can lie on their taxes to get the earned income tax credit, they can work cheaper than American workers. So, not only do the 11-12.5 million illegals outright take jobs that citizens would otherwise have, they drive wages down for all the workers competing with them. That’s Economics 101. When supply outstrips demand, the price drops.

Liberal Women Gather To Yell At Trump Via Their Vajayjay – No, This Isn’t Satire

Look! A group of ’empowered’ women angry at Trump’s misogyny shouting ‘through their vaginas’ at him…

You know that these women were upset about that notorious Access Hollywood tape where then-candidate Trump said that famous men could ‘grab ’em [women] by the p*ssy’ and women would let them.

You can’t say that!

That’s sexist!

Well, they’re going to show Trump that they won’t take that kind of misogyny!

And here’s how they’ll do it — screaming at Trump through their vaginas in a circle like some weird Wiccan ritual.

Opioid Makers Cut Back On Marketing Payments To Doctors

The past two years have been a time of reckoning for pharmaceutical manufacturers over their role in promoting opioid drugs that have fed a national epidemic.

Lawsuits and media reports have accused Purdue Pharma, the maker of OxyContin, ofaggressively marketing the powerful narcotic even after it knew the drug was being misused. Prosecutors have charged the founder of Insys Therapeutics and several of the company's sales representatives and executives for their roles in an alleged conspiracy to bribe doctors to use its fentanyl spray for unapproved uses. State andlocal governments have sued a host of drug makers, alleging they deceptively marketed opioids and seeking to recoup what it costs to treat people addicted to the drugs.

But as public attention increases, the marketing tide may finally be retreating, a new ProPublica analysis shows. Pharmaceutical company payments to physicians related to opioid drugs decreased significantly in 2016 from the year before.

In 2016, drugmakers spent $15.8 million to pay doctors for speaking, consulting, meals and travel related to opioid drugs. That was down 33 percent from $23.7 million in 2015 and is 21 percent less than the $19.9 million in spent in 2014. Companies are required to report the payments publicly under the Physician Payment Sunshine Act, a part of the 2010 Affordable Care Act.

Iran Restarts Nuke Plant After Trump Pulls US Out of Deal

Iran reopened a nuclear plant idle for nine years, its atomic energy agency said on Wednesday, as Tehran prepares to increase uranium enrichment capacity if a nuclear deal with world powers falls apart after the U.S. withdrawal.

U.S.-Iranian tensions have resurged since President Donald Trump pulled Washington out of the 2015 nuclear accord, calling it deeply flawed. Under the deal, Iran restricted its enrichment programme to ease concerns it could not be put to developing nuclear weapons and in return won relief from sanctions.

European signatories are trying to save the accord, which they see as crucial to forestalling an Iranian nuclear weapon. However, Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei ordered the AEOI this month to start preparations to upgrade enrichment capacity in case the European efforts fail.

The AEOI said on Wednesday that in response to Khamenei's order and Trump's renunciation of the deal, a plant for the production of UF6, the feedstock for centrifuge machines that enrich uranium, had been relaunched and a barrel of yellow cake has been delivered there.

The Trump Boom Yields Huge Gains for Manufacturing and Mining Workers

Workers in two American industries that many economists had consigned to the dustbin of history saw some of the biggest gains in wages, bonuses, and benefits in the start of 2018.

The earnings of workers in the durable manufacturing sector rose 12.2 percent compared with the end of 2017, the largest gain of any of the 24 industries tracked by the Bureau of Economic Analysis (BEA). Incomes and benefits for these workers rose by more than $20 billion in the quarter.

The Trump tax cut, it turns out, was a boon to many of the regions that voted for Donald Trump in 2016. Bonuses paid by auto manufacturers in nine states were responsible for around one-fifth of the gain, according to data released by the BEA on Thursday.

“Earnings in durable manufacturing, which increased $20.7 billion dollars in the first quarter, was boosted by $4.3 billion dollars in profit sharing payments made by auto manufacturers to workers in nine states: Illinois, Indiana, Kansas, Kentucky, Michigan, Missouri, Ohio, Tennessee, and Texas,” the BEA said in a statement.

Army No Longer a Social Engineering Guinea Pig

No more mandatory transgender training in the U.S. Army. The focus will be on readiness.

While it may not have felt like it watching Democrats and the Left lose their collectives minds over the election of Donald Trump, in reality it was the first sign that a semblance of sanity had returned to America’s political mind. As we have repeatedly observed, the election of Trump was a repudiation of Barack Obama’s leftist agenda. And arguably nowhere was Obama’s radical agenda more evident and less welcome than in his implementation of leftist social engineering upon the U.S. military. Maybe the most obvious example of Obama’s agenda to fundamentally transform the military was the implementation of transgender training regulations.

Now that Trump is president, he is seeking to return the U.S. military’s focus back to what it was originally intended to do — defend the nation from international threats and win wars. Army Secretary Mark Esper and Chief of Staff Gen. Mark Milley have approved a series of service-wide memorandums that relieve soldiers from unnecessary training regimen. Col. John O'Grady explained, “The Army’s regulations and policies that deal with training were pretty settled, and there were not a lot of detractors to it. … It was all the other [training] requirements that we levied on ourselves, or we had levied from other places.” He noted that those previously mandated training requirements on transgender transition and drug abuse “served as barriers to maximizing time … to build readiness and lethality.”

This change in mandatory training comes as Defense Secretary James Mattis shifts away from the George W. Bush- and Obama-era strategic focus on fighting extremist groups and prioritizes a return to traditional nation-state threats posed by the likes of China and Russia.

Thank God Its Friday 6-29-18

What will you be doing this weekend?

As they voted in Democratic primary, many Marylanders appeared inclined to back Hogan this fall

Dwight Hunter is tired of hearing about President Trump. Doesn’t want to think about him. And like most Democrats, he wishes his presidency were already over.

“I don’t want to get into the name calling,” said the 67-year-old retired police officer, who lives in Upper Marlboro and voted in Maryland’s Democratic gubernatorial primary on Tuesday. “I don’t want to stoop as low as Donald Trump and get into all of that. I’m trying to avoid saying, probably, how I actually feel.”

Yet after voting for Ben Jealous, who won the Democratic gubernatorial nomination, Hunter said he might still back the state’s Republican governor, Larry Hogan, in November.

“I don’t see that voting Hogan out will be a vote against Trump,” he said. “I don’t think Hogan is furthering Donald Trump’s causes in the state of Maryland.”

Democratic primary results rattle foundation of Mike Miller's presidency of Maryland Senate

Of all the winners in the Maryland Democratic primaries on Tuesday, no one lost more than Thomas V. Mike Miller.

The Senate president decisively beat a challenger in his own district. But the loss of allies in other races struck at the very foundation of his 32-year reign over the upper chamber.

Incumbent Senate Democrats in four races fell or were poised to fall to progressive challengers. They include three of Miller’s most valued allies: Sens. Joan Carter Conwayand Nathaniel McFadden of Baltimore and Sen. Thomas M. “Mac” Middleton of Charles County. All three would be replaced by senators with no prior loyalties to Miller.

Senate Minority Leader J. B. Jennings described the losses as “the midnight massacre.”

“The Senate has shifted left,” the Baltimore County Republican said. “It was an earthquake of a shift left.”

With at least five Democratic seats vulnerable to Republican challengers in the November election, Miller could be looking at a very different Senate when he ascends the podium next January — farther to the right overall, but tilting more to the left in his own caucus.

Stats

The frequency of sexual activity of senior males depends on where they were born.

Statistics were just released by Canada and The United Nations Board of Health.

They revealed that American men between 60 and 80 years of age will, on average, have sex two to three times per week, whereas Japanese men, in exactly the same age group, will have sex only once or twice per year if they are lucky.

This news came as a shock to me and my buddies, as none of us had any idea that we were Japanese!

Maryland Fishing Report

We’ve all heard it – 10 percent of anglers catch 90 percent of the fish. Good fishermen are often able to anticipate or adjust to changes in conditions or fish behavior. This trait lies deep in that hunter-gatherer instinct of those who can read the signs that Mother Nature provides them.

This kind of savvy and experience is usually part of what you’re paying for when hiring a charter or guide. Of course it is all the more exciting and certainly more rewarding when we can figure it out by ourselves.

In this first full week of summer, our freshwater fisheries have settled into a predictable pattern. Chesapeake Bay and ocean fisheries are usually in a state of flux and that is especially evident at the moment.

Don’t forget there is one more free fishing day coming up July 4. If you can think of someone who might like fishing, this is a great opportunity for someone to try the sport without buying a license.

Weekly Fishing Conditions Forecast Summary: June 27–July 3

The recent, heavy rains continue to impact Maryland waters, especially the Potomac River, as above-average flows reduce surface salinities and water clarity in many areas of the bay. Besides some possible rain Wednesday and Thursday, anglers will experience hot, sunny fishing conditions for most of the upcoming week.

Main bay water temperatures have reached the upper 70s as a result of warm and sunny conditions. Expect the hot, sunny weather to continue to push water temperatures toward the low 80s. These warmer temperatures will result in rockfish seeking cooler, deeper waters with adequate oxygen levels. Areas from Gunpowder Neck and Swan Point south to the Bay Bridge are showing poor bottom oxygen conditions below about 13 to 16 feet. However, other portions of the main bay and tidal rivers have much better oxygen conditions.

There will be above average tidal currents all week as a result of the full moon June 28.

Severe Stress May Send Immune System Into Overdrive

Trauma or intense stress may up your odds of developing an autoimmune disease, a new study suggests.

Comparing more than 106,000 people who had stress disorders with more than 1 million people without them, researchers found that stress was tied to a 36 percent greater risk of developing 41 autoimmune diseases, includingrheumatoid arthritis, psoriasis, Crohn's disease and celiac disease.

"Patients suffering from severe emotional reactions after trauma or other life stressors should seek medical treatment due to the risk of chronicity of these symptoms and thereby further health decline, such as the increased risk of autoimmune disease," said lead researcher Dr. Huan Song, from the University of Iceland in Reykjavik.

Desperate Dems Ready To Kick Off American Civil War

Radical political groups are already making moves

As the Democrats lose control of America, they will stop at nothing to retain their power and many experts say a massive conflict could be on the horizon.
