A Viewer Writes: Owls at the Salisbury Zoo

Shout out to the Owls still living in dog style kennels at the Zoo for over a year now.

Despite the Zoo holding several fundraisers this past year, we are left wondering what they did with the donations they received because they have yet to build the owls a proper enclosure and continue to hold them in kennels behind the Administration Building.

The whole debacle with the owls and the time frame has been documented on Sbynew with 2 articles :
Lost owls -
https://sbynews.blogspot.com/2017/08/boy-mayor-day-only-cares-about-downtown.html
Caged owls -

So I ask, because I am willing. What national organization do I correspond with to complain about the treatment of the animals at the zoo? Bring on an inspection. It's time.
I know you all (at the zoo) think because you have hidden them that no one is watching. You couldn't be more wrong.

Hey Tom - Remember the time after my article in Oct 2017 you put up a big black tarp trying to hide their view from the public- because you are so dishonest about what you are doing at the zoo. If you weren't doing anything wrong why did you try and shield the view from the public?

  1. That's Animal Cruelty. But better get video,
pics for proof or they'll be moved so no one
    can find them.

    Perhaps the National Wildlife Assoc.
also Contact Humane Society so they can direct
    you to proper Authority.

  3. I always thought that those owls were sick and were put into quarantine cages since they sit on the back of the health center.

  4. A Zoo! Is that what you call that place? I went down there and walked in the park and swore I would never return. I could walk in the Pocomoke Forest and see better wildlife in a better atmosphere I couldn't see the river in most areas where the trees / brush / briars / weeds hid the river. Used to be relaxing to go there and walk from the Elks down to RT12 and back. Now I would just as soon walk down Church Street.

  6. 12:21 PM Did you even read the article? They have been there for over a year. What a ridiculous comment. It is a well known fact they have been begging for money to rebuild a habitat. So what happened to all the money they raised and why is it taking over a year to provide a suitable habitat.

you are revealing your association/identity with comments like that.

  7. What do you mean annon 706 pm? I was just making a statement. There was nothing political in my statement at all. Now YOU are revealing your association/identity with comments like that.

  8. He's a member of the good ole boy club here in Salisbury.Go see him and ask him where the money is. If he will not answer you, tell him you will see him in court.
