Did Salisbury Maryland Mayor Jake Day & Staff Buy Rain Insurance For The Folked Festival?

Years ago I learned something very interesting from Mr. Doug Marshall. As you know he created an amphitheater in Delmar and hosted several events there, some of which were rained out. However, Doug was smart enough to purchase "rain insurance" to cover the cost of the event and let me tell you, it paid off in a very big way.

I can guarantee you that since Jake is spending millions of taxpayers dollars, he couldn't care less and they did not get rain insurance. Hence my constantly stating he is a boy in a man's job. You need WISDOM and EXPERIENCE when you elect a Mayor, unless the election is rigged, of course.

  1. Sure he didn't but can we buy some 'Mayor insurance'?

  2. Not his money, why should he care? It all comes from taxpayers and the Perdue family (write off).

  3. Just wondering if I solicit donations at the festival do I have to turn them in?

  4. You shouldn’t give him the ways to better do his job. Let him and his friends figure it out themselves.

  5. There's nobody there so far today.

  6. If I collect donations in the crowd how much can I keep?

  7. I am sitting here with a brochure that has an orange circle on it that states: Help keep the festival free! Give to the bucket brigade. Suggested donation is $10.00 per person per day. It IS a free festival and they want $10.00 per person per day?

    1. Do you not understand what "suggested donation" means? You can decline to "donate" lol. Or pay a $1. Or tell them you already paid.

  8. We had no one else "Boy Mayor" ran unopposed, he and his followers have to know he won only by default. What should have been done was Ireton would have to have stayed on until a qualified mayor was found. But you have to allow that it wasn't only him that wanted this festival it was the good old boys who go along with anything, that gives them 15 minutes of attention. It was not thought through as to how this festival would be carried out one being where it was to be built or held, weather a factor, parking, enough hotels or good motels available, but this biggest issue for me was safety. When Homeland Security said it should be shut down that should have been the end of it. The tax payers should have no $ in this let the fools that wanted it pay for it. Mark my words bankruptcy will be on their lips. And we remain tied into this for 2 more years. And a big question for everyone should be months ago there was discussion that our mayor would not even be here he would be doing his service responsibility what happened to that?

  10. Expect the same level of incompetence from Jack Heath if he's elected as county executive. Heath is a go-along-to-get-along kind of person, with his loyalties firmly stuck with the same people who brought Salisbury Barrie Tilghman, Mike Dunn, Lynn Cathcart, Gary Comegys and Shanie Shields, not to mention Jake Day and Jim Ireton, our very own rainbow warriors.

  11. I have heard from city workers they have been working on Folk Festival stuff for months instead of doing their regular job. I also know someone who is being paid overtime to help set up. I think over time pay to plant flowers is a bit much. This festival is costing way more then we will ever know.

  12. My God, you people sound like anti-Trumpers. The Mayor was elected by the people of Salisbury. What's the matter? Are you sore losers too?

  13. It will be like a Hillary Clinton rally. They will just show people sitting in the front but won't zoom out to show just how few there are that showed up for this.

WBOC was all over the Delaware State Fair. Lets see how they cover this since the studio is here in Salisbury. My prediction is they was show minimal coverage because their advertisers are all in Delaware!

Maybe Capt Silly will fly over the event, if his chopper isn't struck by lightening!

  17. The "Slum" lords and the "crony" contractors that steal property from the City pay for the festival. Not the Tax Payer.

  18. If that spend crazy foolish Jack Heath gets the county executive job, Wicomico county taxes will soar and he will bankrupt the county with most of the money going to the city. Remember he is not an Independent, he switched his party affiliation from Democrat because democrats don't do well in the polls here on the shore. He's a democrat in independent clothing. Bad news for the county if ole Jack, Jake and John Cannon have all control of city and county funds.

  19. I'm told it's really bad down there...many reports on f/b and their not good. supposed to be 100% tomorrow. Imagine the money lost and time wasted on this fiasco. Boy Mayor should just retire and pass the leadership off to a 'competent' man...

  20. I 100% believe that they closed roads and made traffic suck today on purpose so it seemed like there were a lot of extra people in town. When, in reality, it was just normal flow with nowhere to go. Seriously, all of the venues were empty. Meanwhile, us poor local saps are stuck in "traffic" just trying to get home from work.

  22. 6:21 PM it gets even better. City fb page has vids and at the PRMC stage THERE ARE NO CHAIRS!! You have to sit on the ground, RAIN OR SHINE! ha ha ha.

How many people are going to show up tomorrow to stand around on soggy ground to hear a band because they can not sit down!?!

I was going to pop in Sat evening but now that I saw there is nowhere to sit and I will have to drag my chair down with me I may as well stay home.

  23. Last night was a great first night for the NFF. Those of you making negative comments on a Friday evening just shows how lonely you must be. Try to get out and have some fun. Joe do you have rain insurance next week? Want to make sure you are covered when Trump doesn’t show up. Wait no one cares.

  24. @7:28 your kidding right?? My one and only question is what happened to the 300,000 then rescinded to 80,000 expected?? This garbage is nothing more than Jake Day throwing a party for all his friends on taxpayer money. I was hoping the rain would continue so we could see the river flood out west main and Fitzwater so we could see how that money could be better spent.
