The Salty Sailor and The Fireman

The views this mother has about Donald Trump are much like many others. Her characterization of Trump as the "Salty Sailor" or as The Fireman paint an excellent picture!!. She has written many great books about her son and family..This is a Comment from KAREN VAUGHN, Mother of Aaron Vaughn, Navy Seal.

Sometimes God uses the no-nonsense, salty sailor to get the job done. Appreciating what the man is doing doesn't mean we worship the salty sailor or even desire to be like the salty sailor. It doesn't even mean God admires the salty sailor. Maybe He just knows he's necessary for such a time as this.

I believe with all my heart that God placed that salty sailor in the White House and gave this nation one more chance in November 2016. Donald Trump is what he is. He is still the man he was before the election. And without guilt, I very much admire what that salty sailor is accomplishing.

He's not like me. That's okay with me. I don't want to be like him. I
will never behave like him. I know we've NEVER had a man like him lead our nation. It's crazy and a little mind blowing at times. But I can't help admire the ability he has to act with his heart rather than a calculated, PC, think tank-screened, carefully edited script. I still believe that is WHY he became our President and WHY he's been able to handle a landslide of adversity and STILL pass unprecedented amounts of good legislation for our country AND do great works for MANY other nations, including Israel.

I'm THRILLED with what he's doing for my nation, for the cause of Christ (whether intentional or unintentional, doesn't matter to me), and for the concept of rebuilding America and putting her FIRST. I will not be ashamed of my position because others don't see him through the same lens.

Should it matter to me if a fireman drops an f-bomb while he's pulling me from a burning building? Would I really care about what came out of his mouth in those moments? Heck no! I'd CARE about what he was DOING. He wasn't sent there to save my soul and I'm not looking to him for spiritual guidance. All I'm thinking in those moments is, "Thank you, Jesus, for sending the fireman."

I'll post this article below again for those who still might not understand me. This man is crass. Okay. He's not careful with what he says. Okay. You feel offended that he's not a typical statesman. Okay. But he is rebuilding the nation my son died for... the nation I feared was on a fast track to becoming a hopeless cause.

Forgive me if I'm smiling."

  1. Back before R&D were diametrically opposed,JFK Jr told everyone what a great leader Trump would be if he ever decided to run for office.Boy was he ever right.Just 2 years ago I commented on this site that things were so bad they were irreversible.Boy was I ever wrong.

  4. "he's necessary for such a time as this" is the essence of what I have been saying. He's the right man at the right time for this country. I cannot imagine anyone else who could have saved us as he has (and still is).

  5. I always use a similar analogy when I'm trying to explain my position about DJT.
I use the surgeon example: you don't need to hang out and drink beer and play pool with your surgeon as long as he cuts well. Same with Trump- his crass-ness can be annoying but he's doing one Hell of a job fixing Obama's mistakes.

  7. I just can't.

The spectacular mental gymnastics it takes to make this work are just astounding.

If "God" put Trump in office.. then he also put Barak Obama in..

This is a nice way white wash the fact that Trump, while at times has made effective political decisions, is a reprehensible human being. "Salty Sailor"? That's the term for an unfaithful misogynist gas lighting slug who rips off his contractors?

What, has he done, for the cause of Christ? Written an executive order to eliminate, or as Trump wrote it, be lenient in enforcing the Johnson Ammendment? An ammendment that has never been enforced (though arguably should be), and ironically, Trump doesn't have the Constitutional Authority to even do such a thing as eliminate a law.

Saying he eliminated it is just a lie.

    Playing nice with Israel?

A new office to "protect religious liberty".. you all ready HAVE religious liberty! He is playing you.

Let me say it again to be clear... he is playing you. He wants your evangelical vote.. and I don't fault him for doing so... but lets not get confused as to the intent.

Let's be clear too... in the Fireman example.. if you are going to thank Jesus for sending the fireman.. then you by default have to thank him for sending the fire! May be, Jesus DIDN'T send the fireman... may be he is just there because it's his job... how about this one.... TRY THANKING THE FIREMAN WHO RISKED HIS LIFE TO SAVE YOU, or better yet.. while you are chatting with Jesus, ask him about all those other people that called out to him while engulfed in flames why he ignored their calls for a fireman?

Let me be really clear... there are things about Trump I like, and there are things that I don't.... but don't for one second think that you can shoehorn your deity into this in any way and not have me call foul on you.

If this is the kind of mental gymnastics you have to justify supporting a horrible human that you know is contrary to your religious teaching then... as some would say it "God help you".

  10. 8:29 obviously the mind altering crap you took back in the day is still in your system or just kicked in. A good head shrink may help you, can't promise. Anyway, I wish you well and hope you can shake that jealousy you have going with our great president.

  11. This was a great statement from a mother of a son who gave all. Thank God ours came home alive. War changes you, always a price to be paid for the freedoms fought for that we all enjoy. Some of these people who raise a stink about every damned thing, real & largely imagined need to be shipped to another country for a while, then tell me how bad you have it here.
    8:29--
Clueless bastards like you make me feel ill. WTH were the alternatives this past presidential election? An avowed socialist (go to Venezuela if you want that crap), a known criminal that is surrounded by dead people who were a threat? Or a businessman who gets things done, despite constant opposition from people who claim to be patriots? I've said for years that we needed a businessperson at the helm of this great country, not like some previous captains that were either rudderless, or insistent upon running it into the ground. Don't even get me started on the "journalists".

  12. I'll tell you what President Trump has done for Christ. He formally recognized Jerusalem as the capital of the country and moved the US Embassy there. Christ has plans for his followers that requires "his people" to rebuild the temple in Jerusalem.
As for the rest of the article, I agree with the writer. All of these people are up in arms over who Trump slept with 10-15 years ago and how much he did or did not pay the person IF he slept with them. WHO CARES! That is an issue for him and his wife to resolve. Where were these same people when Bill Clinton had Monica under the desk. As long as Stormie isn't under the desk NOW, I could care less. He is running the country. Russia Gate should be over. If the man had done something they surely would have found it by now. He has to be the most investigated man in the country. Yet nothing, except he might have slept around years ago. You show me a man who hasn't. Not one who CLAIMS they haven't but one who truly hasn't. Every man I've ever known has slept around at some point in their life GET OVER IT.

    GO TRUMP 2020!

I sure that's in the Bible. I think in that list of 10 things that are most important.

By businessman who gets things done, do you mean Gary Johnson, because that's who I voted for. I didn't like Hillary, and I didn't like Trump.

But, now, Trump is my president, OUR president really.

Like I stated, there are things that he has done that I like, and others I don't.

However, to respond to your point directly, there were other conservative options.. and my reply was directly to the tone and content by the other, smuggling her deity into the picture and spinning things in all directions in a way to square the circle... to make it o.k. to have her Christian values and support Trump at the same time... and her points came up wanting.. which was what and why I replied. If you have comment on those points I'd be happy to hear.

  15. @12:16 pm

Imagine the hubris it takes to assume that God get's involved in politics, and picks just the guy you wanted?

And if you are going to credit him with one president being elected... you then have to credit him with all of them being elected... you don't get to pick and choose.

Unless... you have direct demonstrable evidence to the contrary...

And, what someones religious perspective, or lack there of has absolutely nothing to do with the points being made. Ideas stand or fall on their own merit... the source they come from is irrelevant.

  16. I think a lot of you are missing her point which is, she is thankful the fireman is saving her no matter where he came from.

  17. @4:21 pm

I don't think so. The crux of this article is about justifying voting and supporting someone that is diametrically in opposition to your faith system and world view, and twisting and bending to make it work.

The fireman example fails for reasons stated above... but even so for a more poignant reason directly to the subject matter.

You didn't elect the fireman.... but we are pretending the "elected" fireman came to save you.

If this analogy were to hold water, there would need to be choices to elect ie elect this fireman, elect that no fire ever starts, elect that you are never in the fire in the first place, etc.

Evangelicals have a hard time justifying their support for Trump, Hillary was clearly a no go... so instead of voting with their moral conscience and faith and electing Gary Johnson.. the logical choice... they voted Trump not because he was the best candidate that comported with their world view.... they elected him because they didn't want Hillary. Elected a man that in any other circumstances would be condemned by them... and now they have to justify that choice and not seem like hypocrites.

Arguably a hard position to be in.

  18. I thought her comments were excellent. She is a good soul. Her brave son gave his life for his country's freedom. Would everyone please shot up. Enough already. Don't argue about something you cannot change. Feel good that we have people like her son to protect us instead of individuals who can't make it through the day without holding on to puppies for support. God help our next generation. I want to thank this woman for speaking out and to say we are sorry you lost a great son.
