Park Cottage’s Future Discussed

SALISBURY – Officials in Wicomico County have agreed to move forward with plans to either sell or demolish a dilapidated cottage in Powellville.

On Tuesday, Aug. 7, Wayne Strausburg, the county’s director of administration, came before the Wicomico County Council in an open work session to seek a course of action for a vacant cottage at Adkins Mill Park in Powellville.

“This is the cottage at Adkins Mill Park that had been rented out for quite some time,” he said. “The tenant who had been there has moved out.”

Strausburg said Assistant Parks Superintendent Mark Rickards and General Services Supervisor Pate Matthews recently inspected the park’s cottage and determined it to be in “very poor condition.” Their report included extensive mildew issues, wood rot, rust stains, broken appliances and furniture and more.

  1. Does anyone know when the city free bulk pickup is in September? Their facebook page is clustered up with nothing but folked festival crap and their website doesn't have it listed either. I saw it somewhere but can't find it now.

  2. What a hoot. Its a dilapidated piece of crap that isn't worth renovating but they are going to try and sell it and see if someone wants to spend tens of thousands trying to move something that is falling apart and has no value.

Always trying to pass the buck!!

They rented it out and did not bother to maintain it. It fell to pieces and now they don't want to step up and take responsibility for it.

Do these clowns know what is falling out of their mouths when they open them?
