New game show, 'Paid Off', pays off contestants’ student loan debt

Student loan debt has ingrained itself in modern culture, sadly, and TruTV is offering a solution to a few lucky contestants in a new game show called “Paid Off.”

The game show, which premiered Tuesday night, is hosted by comedian Michael Torpey from "Orange is the New Black." It’s described as a “Family Feud-style” competition where “three lucky college grads — saddled with student debt — [get] the chance to test the depth of their degrees in a fun, fast paced trivia gameshow,” according to TruTV.

The winner of each show gets the chance to have their student debt wiped out.

According to MarketWatch, Torpey believes several factors play into the massive student loan debt crisis, including banks and loan companies, as well as greedy colleges and lax government policies. He’s excited to offer financial relief to a few lucky game show winners.

If Twitter is any indication, a lot of millennials want in on the action.
