  2. I’d much rather have a good dog as a partner than some inflated ego officer who would run away at the sounds of gunfire. I became a Las Vegas police officer at age fifty after a military career as a pilot in Vietnam with thirty months of getting shot at every day and witnessed what I would consider cowardice from my peers. I had been a federal special agent and tired of moving around the country, so I applied for LVMPD. To make a long story short, I was bounced out of the department because of my lack of concern for my own safety. In other words, I would run to the sounds of gunfire when others would try to avoid it until it was over. Just saw an article online regarding LVMPD officer who froze and was afraid to confront the shooter that killed fifty some concert attendees a few months ago. Boy does that frost me because I know that if I had been in that position, I would have made every effort to charge in and neutralize that threat even if it cost me my life. I have little confidence in our present police officers. Even with good training they have been subjected to a kinder gentler feminization of both the military and police. Sad.
