Report: Obama Presidential Library To Cost Taxpayers Nearly $200 Million

Criticized by activist groups who say library has minimal benefits for community

Public works projects surrounding the proposed Obama Presidential Center will cost taxpayers nearly $200 million, according to a report published Saturday.

The state of Illinois approved a $224 million budget, allotting $174 million for road work around the presidential center and an additional $50 million to renovate an above-ground railway station two miles away from the center, according to a report from the Washington Examiner.

Of the $224 million, nearly $200 million is expected to come from taxpayer funds, the report states.

  2. Makes me ill. There should be a limit on what x-presidents can spend. I want my taxes back. Think what good things could be done. Homes for disable vets. Medical insurance. His Presidency isn't worth it. I didn't read the article. But I bet it has a basketball court. Training center for Obama want a be's. Lord save us

So city of Chicago is financially broke, state of Illinois too and somehow Democ-rats "find the way" to spend 200 millions on Bullcrap Obama Library? If those poor locals don't throw these croocked bums out, they will be freezing out in streets and train stations in winter time, but the feeling of Obama Library should make them "warm & cozy".

  9. Not a dime! He's trying to take over parkland and existing public space, and even the Chicago libs are upset.

Put it down on the South Side where the homicides run rampant.

Agree we should stop funding these ego temples. Let the buddies of former presidents pony up and dig deep to pay for this crap completely.
