Budget Increases Funding For Maryland’s Fight Against Heroin And Opioid Epidemic, Supports Law Enforcement

Governor Hogan was the first governor in the country to declare a true State of Emergency in response to the heroin and opioid epidemic, and remains committed to doing everything he can to raise awareness and save lives. The fiscal year 2019 budget is proof of the governor’s unwavering support to mobilize resources for effective prevention, treatment, enforcement, and recovery in response to this crisis, and brings the total funding the governor has committed toward fighting the scourge of heroin and opioid and substance use disorders in Maryland to over $600 million.

The fiscal year 2019 budget makes important investments to support law enforcement and to help keep Marylanders safe. Since taking office, Governor Hogan has invested $10 billion in funds for public safety and security programs throughout the state. Under this budget the governor reaffirms his strong support for local law enforcement, increasing the state’s investment to local governments and municipalities dedicated for police aid to $74.5 million.

  4. The only reason why there isn't a Police day in Ocean City like the firemen do is that the town isn't large enough. Maryland has far too many police organizations when you consider that Delaware has only one.
