Illinois Senate Taking Up Bill Requiring 18-20-Year-Olds to Hand Over Certain Semiautomatic Rifles

The Illinois Senate will consider a bill Wednesday that would require 18-20-year-olds to relinquish certain semiautomatic rifles.

The bill, HB 1465, originated in the Illinois House, where it was sponsored by Rep. Michelle Mussman (D-Schaumburg).

Breitbart News reported that the House passed the measure by a vote of 64-51. It gives 18-20-year-olds 90 days to hand over or transfer ownership of heretofore legally possessed “assault weapons” and demands the same age group immediately forfeit ownership of “high capacity” magazines.

Fox 2 reported that critics of Mussman’s bill were shocked by “the idea that the government would confiscate property.” But Mussman responded to these concerns by assuring colleagues on both sides of the aisle that “authorities will not visit homes to pick up weapons.” Rather, the ramifications for not obeying the law would be meted out a charge at a time. She said, “A first offense for getting caught with prohibited firearms would be a misdemeanor offense.”

  4. Old enough to die for your country but not old enough to smoke, drink alcohol or posses a weapon. We need to change the age for military service to 21 as well then!!

  7. R E V O L T I O N.

First, 18-20 year olds will be given 90 days to surrender weapons or face prison time.
When no one says "F U. come and get them and bring a lot of help",
they will say, "hey, that was easy!!".
THEN, it will be EVERYONE has 90 days or face prison.
We're going to end up shooting a WHOLE LOT of politicians and their Nazi enforcers.
Like MILLIONS of other gun owners, I stand with the 18-20 years who didn't break any laws. And I say this, too -- I will defend them, too, and the ONLY way anyone is taking any gun from me is when it's red-hot and empty.
Taking guns from law abiding citizens because someone is AFRAID??
We're going to take your fear factor to levels you don't understand yet.
I suggest these sissy, wanna-be dictator Nazi's read the Constitution and read what Thomas Jefferson said about watering the Tree of liberty.
    Then run.

  8. A lot of people came out to the Bundy Ranch from all over the country armed and ready, and successfully stopped the Federales from taking over and having their way with them.

Illinois may become the next Bundy Ranch for our Militias.

  11. This is getting out of control way to fast. And, what are the liberals going to do next when this does not stop the mass murders?

  12. DON'T do it. If you give up your guns/rights, you will never get them back. It's time for these "manly men" to back up what they love to say online. Talk is cheap and easy to do with a keyboard. Do words, and actions, fail you when the SHTF?

  13. Talked to a veteran police officer today who said the younger cops will be the ones to come after the guns. They are product of the public school system and believe all the crap they've been fed.

    Obama's brown shirt army.

First place we need to start is with the people that orchestrated this constitutional abuse.

The tree of liberty has been thirsty for a while now. Time for a refreshing drink.

  16. And now you know why gun registration is an assault on the 2nd amendment. Once registered, they can pass just one more law to make guns illegal to own, and, like this law, they will use that registration to confiscate what was legally obtained. Gun registration has not solved or prevented ANY crimes, and is just a tool for the eventual outlawing and confiscation of all guns from law abiding citizens by the government. This proposed law is just the beginning if they pass it. If it is passed and gets past a constitutional muster, the 2nd amendment is dead, and the government will have totalitarian control over our citizens. That is the goal of most Democrats, and the government itself. Unregistered guns are the best. Always keep several that the government doesn't know about. They are valuable, and a legacy for your children.

  17. Don't think that is going to change the murders that seem to take place everyday in Chicago.
